Critical Compatibility

  • Designed for the 2019–2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, 2500, 3500, and 3500XD.
  • Use only the included sPOD battery cables on the positive and negative terminal studs of the BantamX board. Attaching any other cable to these terminals voids the warranty.
  • Connecting the battery cables with reversed polarity voids the warranty.
  • Do not connect an aftermarket brake controller, high-amp solenoid, or high-amp relay to the same positive battery post used by the BantamX system. Per manufacturer documentation, this will cause irreversible damage to the system and voids all warranties.
  • Do not cut, splice, or otherwise modify the supplied wiring, connectors, or switches, and do not remove actuators without the manufacturer's specific actuator removal tool. Any of these actions voids the warranty.

Installation Notes

  • Required tools: T20, T25, T27, and T30 Torx bits; Phillips head screwdriver; 10mm, 13mm, and 7/16" sockets; 1/4" and 5/8" drill bits or step bit; wire cutters or scissors; trim removal tool; M3 Allen key; 1/4" drill stop or marker; pliers.
  • Park the vehicle on level ground with the ignition off before beginning installation.
  • Installation requires removing the driver's side floor panel and battery cover, then disconnecting the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
  • After disconnecting the negative terminal, wait a full 15 minutes before continuing, to allow the vehicle's capacitors to discharge. This step is required to avoid accidentally deploying the SRS airbag system.
  • Installation involves removing the SRS airbag cover screw, the A-pillar trim, the sun visor, and the overhead console module to route the switch panel and ethernet cable.
  • A printed cutout template is used to drill a 1/4" mounting hole and a 5/8" ethernet cable hole into the overhead console module; hole sizes are increased incrementally with a step bit to avoid cracking the plastic cover.
  • The ethernet cable routes from the overhead switch panel through the A-pillar, along the top of the windshield, and down to the BantamX module, which mounts to a bracket at the firewall in the engine bay.
  • The battery cables route from the BantamX module through the firewall and dash into the battery compartment and connect to the vehicle's positive and negative battery terminals.
  • Route and secure all wiring away from sharp, hot, or rotating components.
  • Re-torque all fasteners after the first 100 miles of use.
  • Full manufacturer installation instructions for this application are available from sPOD/Baja Designs.

The Obsidian Take

The HD BantamX kit gives Sprinter 1500/2500/3500/3500XD (2019–2025) owners eight expandable, independently switched, 30-amp circuits with backlit HD panel switches, integrated low-voltage cutoff protection, and built-in Bluetooth control, installed using the vehicle's factory battery posts rather than cutting or tapping into the stock electrical system. Installation is more involved than a typical accessory switch panel: it requires removing interior trim and the overhead console, drilling mounting holes with a supplied template, and observing the manufacturer's airbag-safety disconnect procedure. It suits owners planning a larger accessory build-out — such as a camper or overland conversion — who want a single, vehicle-specific control point instead of wiring individual switches and relays for each add-on, and who are comfortable with (or plan to have a professional handle) a full interior teardown.

This Product Is For You If

  • You own a 2019–2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, 2500, 3500, or 3500XD.
  • You are adding aftermarket electrical accessories and need up to 8 independently switched, expandable, 30-amp circuits.
  • You want to operate accessories from the included HD panel or via Bluetooth rather than factory switches.
  • You want a no-cut, no-splice installation using the vehicle's existing battery posts.
  • You want integrated low-voltage cutoff protection on your accessory circuits.
  • You are prepared for an installation that includes interior trim removal, drilling into the overhead console with a supplied template, and following the manufacturer's SRS airbag disconnect procedure.

This Product Is Not For You If

  • Your vehicle is not a 2019–2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, 2500, 3500, or 3500XD.
  • You need more than 8 independently switched circuits.
  • You plan to attach an aftermarket brake controller, high-amp solenoid, or high-amp relay to the same positive battery post as the BantamX.
  • You intend to cut, splice, or otherwise modify the supplied wiring, switches, or connectors.
  • Connecting the battery cables with reversed polarity voids the warranty.
  • You are not prepared to disconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal and observe the required capacitor-discharge wait before working near the SRS airbag system.
