The Deluxe and Basic rack are identical except for the side configuration. If you need to access the bed from the sides frequently while gear is mounted on the rack, the flip-up sides of the Deluxe are the correct choice. If lateral bed access is not a regular requirement, the Basic saves the cost difference.

What does "flip-up" mean and why does it matter?
The flip-up sides hinge upward — when gear is mounted on the side panels, you can still swing the panels up to access the full width of the bed from the side without removing anything. Fixed sides on the Basic rack cannot be repositioned. If you regularly load gear from the side of the truck while items are already mounted on the rack, the flip-up configuration saves significant time.

Does this rack require any additional parts to install on a Tacoma?
No. The Tacoma rack bolts directly to the factory rail mounting system built into the 3rd gen Tacoma bed. No additional hardware required — unlike the Gladiator rack which requires Mopar Part #82215956.

Short bed or long bed — how do I confirm?
Measure your bed or check your window sticker. The Tacoma short bed is 5 feet and the long bed is 6 feet. This rack fits the 5-foot short bed only. If your Tacoma has the 6-foot long bed, order RK-104-TAC3 long bed extensions in addition to this rack.

Can I add accessories later?
Yes. Side rails (RK-103-TAC3) add additional gear mounting near the rear quarter panels and are sold separately. The modular design allows the rack to be expanded over time.
