Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Fox 2.0 Performance Series Rear Shock (SKU 980-24-664) is engineered for the 1999–2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD platform β€” covering Silverado/Sierra 2500, 2500HD, 3500, 3500HD, and 1500 HD/1500 HD Classic β€” running stock height or up to 2.5" of rear lift. Aluminum body construction improves heat dissipation over steel-bodied OEM shocks and resists rust. The IFP (Internal Floating Piston) mono-tube design separates oil and nitrogen gas, eliminating oil aeration to maintain consistent damping performance through heat cycles during towing, hauling, and rough-road use. Race-developed high-flow damping piston with application-specific valving tuned to this chassis generation. Sold as a single rear shock.

This part covers the pre-2020 GM HD chassis only. The 2020+ redesigned Silverado/Sierra 2500HD/3500HD requires a different Fox part number.

Critical Compatibility

Configuration Notes
2020+ Silverado/Sierra 2500HD/3500HD Does not fit β€” the redesigned chassis uses a different Fox rear shock part number
Rear lift exceeding 2.5" Requires a longer-travel Fox shock β€” confirm the correct part number for your lift height before ordering
Long-travel or coilover conversion suspension Not compatible
Mismatched left/right shocks Replace in pairs for handling balance β€” mismatched damping rates between sides causes instability under load
Lift height by vehicle Lift range varies by specific model (2.5" for 2500HD/3500HD pickups, 3" for Avalanche/Suburban, 1" for Yukon XL/H2) β€” confirm your exact vehicle's rated lift range above

Common Questions

Does this fit my 2021 Sierra 2500HD?
No. The 2020+ Silverado/Sierra 2500HD/3500HD uses a redesigned chassis and requires a different Fox part number. This shock is for the 1999–2019 generation.

What's the actual lift range β€” 1" or 2.5"?
For the Silverado/Sierra 2500/2500HD/3500/3500HD pickup applications, Fox's own fitment data confirms 0–2.5" of rear lift. Some retailers market this part under a "0-1" lift" label, but the manufacturer's fitment range extends to 2.5" for these specific models. Other vehicles sharing this part number (Yukon XL, Hummer H2) are rated to a narrower 0–1" range β€” confirm your specific vehicle above.

Does this fit a Suburban or Avalanche?
Yes β€” the Suburban 2500 (2000–2013) and Avalanche 2500 (2002–2006) are confirmed in Fox's own fitment data at a 0–3" rear lift range.

Do I need one or two?
This listing is for a single shock. Order quantity 2 for a complete rear pair, and replace both sides together for balanced handling.

The Obsidian Take

The 980-24-664 is for the 1999–2019 GM HD truck owner β€” Silverado or Sierra 2500/2500HD/3500/3500HD, and several related GM platforms sharing the same chassis β€” running stock height or up to 2.5" of rear lift who wants Fox's IFP damping and aluminum-body heat dissipation over the factory steel shock.

The check that matters most: confirm your truck is pre-2020. The redesigned current-generation 2500HD/3500HD uses an entirely different Fox part number, and this one will not fit that chassis regardless of how the lift height lines up.
