Description
β οΈ Required Supporting Modification: A CV front driveline is required on 4WD models running 4β6 inches of front lift if operating in 4WD above 20 mph. The factory front driveline U-joint operating angles exceed safe limits at this lift height in 4WD engagement above 20 mph. This is not optional β it is a required supporting modification for Cognito 4β6-inch lift kits on the T1 Silverado/Sierra 1500 4WD platform.
The Obsidian Vision
At 4 to 6 inches of front lift on the 2019β2026 T1 Silverado and Sierra 1500 4WD, the factory front driveline U-joint operating angles exceed the safe threshold for sustained 4WD operation above 20 mph β producing vibration, accelerated U-joint wear, and eventual driveline failure under normal use. The Cognito CV Front Driveline is the direct bolt-in solution: a 1310 series double cardan CV joint at the transfer case end eliminates the operating angle problem by centering the driveline's working angle at the CV, and a 1330 to 3R combo U-joint at the differential end handles the remaining angle change. Complete bolt-in replacement, made in the USA, engineered specifically for 4β6-inch Cognito lift applications on the T1 platform.

Engineering Breakdown
- Eliminates the excessive U-joint operating angles generated by 4β6 inches of front lift on the T1 Silverado/Sierra 1500 4WD platform β the factory front driveline is a straight U-joint design that cannot accommodate the increased driveline angle at the transfer case end without vibration, accelerated wear, and eventual joint failure when operated in 4WD above 20 mph at the elevated ride height.
- Corrects the transfer case end driveline angle through a 1310 series double cardan CV joint β a constant velocity joint design that splits the operating angle equally across two U-joints phased 180 degrees apart, canceling the velocity variation that a single U-joint produces at high operating angles and delivering smooth, vibration-free power transfer at the elevated front lift height.
- Delivers a complete bolt-in driveline replacement with a 1330 to 3R combo U-joint at the differential end β handling the differential-side angle change with a heavy-duty U-joint combination that matches the factory mounting interface for a direct, no-modification installation on the 2019β2026 T1 Silverado/Sierra 1500 4WD transfer case and front differential.
The 1310 series double cardan CV joint at the transfer case end is the critical component β it is the joint geometry that allows this driveline to operate smoothly at the 4β6-inch lift angles that the factory straight U-joint driveline cannot handle. The 1330 to 3R combo U-joint at the differential end provides the heavy-duty joint interface at the front differential flange. The complete driveline is engineered specifically for 4β6-inch Cognito lift applications on the T1 platform β it is not a universal driveline and is not designed for lift heights outside the 4β6-inch range or for non-Cognito lift configurations without verification. Made in the USA. At 22 lbs, this ships standard parcel.

β REQUIREMENTS & CRITICAL NOTICES:
β οΈ 4WD MODELS ONLY: This driveline is for 4WD models only. 2WD Silverado/Sierra 1500 do not have a front driveline and do not require this part.
β οΈ 4β6-INCH COGNITO LIFT APPLICATIONS ONLY: This driveline is engineered for 4β6-inch Cognito lift kits on the T1 platform. It is not designed for lift heights outside this range or for non-Cognito lift configurations without verification. Contact the OFAS team to confirm compatibility with your specific lift kit before ordering.
β οΈ T1 GENERATION ONLY (2019β2026): Engineered for the T1 generation Silverado/Sierra 1500 only. Not compatible with the previous K2 generation (2014β2018).
Install before operating the vehicle in 4WD above 20 mph after lift kit installation. Do not operate in 4WD above 20 mph with the factory driveline installed at 4β6 inches of front lift.
Installation & Technical Notes
Scope: Direct bolt-in replacement for the factory front driveline β remove the factory front driveline and install the Cognito CV driveline at the factory transfer case and front differential mounting points.
Install Sequence: Install the CV front driveline as part of the lift kit installation, before operating the vehicle in 4WD above 20 mph. Do not drive in 4WD above 20 mph with the factory driveline at 4β6 inches of front lift.
Driveline Phasing: Verify driveline phasing is correct after installation β incorrect phasing will produce vibration at speed. Refer to Cognito's included instruction sheet for phasing verification procedure.
Torque Specifications: Torque all driveline mounting fasteners to GM specification. Refer to Cognito's included instruction sheet for all torque values.
Re-Torque Interval: Re-torque all driveline fasteners after the first 500 miles of driving post-installation.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
This is a driveline component and does not affect wheel offset, tire clearance, or suspension lift height. Wheel and tire fitment is determined by your installed Cognito lift kit configuration. Contact the OFAS team to confirm your complete 4WD supporting modification list for your specific lift height and truck configuration.
Our team is standing by to verify your specific Cognito lift kit, 4WD configuration, and driveline angle requirements before you order. Purchase with confidence; we review every build.
