Description
β οΈ Torsion Keys Required: Due to the softer spring rate of these torsion bars, front ride height will sit lower than stock without torsion keys. Torsion keys are required to restore and maintain stock ride height after installation. They are not included in this kit β add them to your order before checkout or contact the OFAS team.
The Obsidian Vision
The factory torsion bars on the 2011β2019 K2 Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD are tuned for maximum load capacity and towing stability β which produces a characteristically stiff, punishing ride on unladen trucks over rough pavement and washboard. The Cognito Comfort Ride Torsion Bar Kit replaces both factory torsion bars with a reduced-rate direct OEM replacement pair, built to OEM standards, that delivers a measurably softer and more compliant front ride quality without altering the factory suspension geometry. Left and right bars included, 1-hour DIY install, made in the USA. Torsion keys are required to maintain stock ride height β see the requirements section.

Every order is manually reviewed by our technicians to ensure 100% compatibility with your build before we ship.
Engineering Breakdown
- Reduces the front torsion bar spring rate below the factory specification β delivering a softer, more compliant initial ride response on unladen and lightly loaded 2011β2019 K2 2500HD/3500HD trucks by decreasing the torsional stiffness that the factory bars use to support maximum payload and towing loads, absorbing road inputs that the OEM bars transmit directly to the chassis and cab.
- Replaces both factory torsion bars as a direct OEM-standard left and right pair β same mounting points, same installation procedure as the factory bars, no modification to the factory torsion bar adjuster bolts, crossmember, or suspension geometry required β a bolt-in ride quality upgrade that installs in approximately 1 hour with standard hand tools.
- Delivers improved front ride quality on the K2 2500HD/3500HD torsion bar front suspension platform β the same platform used across the 2011β2019 Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD β by targeting the spring rate as the primary variable, without requiring shock replacement, lift kit installation, or geometry modification to achieve the ride quality improvement.
The Cognito Comfort Ride Torsion Bars are built to OEM dimensional and material standards β correct bar diameter, correct spline count, correct length for the K2 2500HD/3500HD torsion bar crossmember β with a reduced torsional spring rate as the sole engineering change. Because the softer rate allows the front suspension to settle lower at the same adjuster bolt position, torsion keys are required after installation to crank the adjuster back up to stock ride height. Without torsion keys, the front of the truck will sit lower than stock. At 71 lbs, this kit ships standard parcel.

β REQUIREMENTS & CRITICAL NOTICES:
β οΈ TORSION KEYS REQUIRED β NOT INCLUDED: The softer spring rate of these torsion bars will cause the front of the truck to sit lower than stock at the factory adjuster bolt position. Torsion keys are required to restore and maintain stock ride height after installation. Torsion keys are not included in this kit. Contact the OFAS team to add compatible torsion keys to your order before shipping.
β οΈ K2 GENERATION ONLY (2011β2019): Engineered for the K2 generation Silverado/Sierra 2500HD/3500HD torsion bar front suspension only. Not compatible with the T1 generation (2020β2026), which does not use a torsion bar front suspension.
Front alignment check recommended after installation β verify caster and camber are within GM specification after setting ride height with torsion keys.
Re-torque torsion bar adjuster bolts after the first 500 miles post-installation.
Installation & Technical Notes
Estimated Install Time: 1-hour DIY install β with a floor jack, jack stands, basic hand tools, and a torque wrench.
Torsion Keys: Install torsion keys after installing the Comfort Ride torsion bars to restore stock ride height. Set the adjuster bolts to achieve the desired front ride height before performing a front alignment check.
Ride Height Setting: After installing torsion keys, set the front ride height to stock specification using the torsion bar adjuster bolts. Measure front ride height at the factory measurement points before and after adjustment.
Alignment Check: Verify front caster and camber are within GM specification after setting ride height. A full alignment is recommended if caster or camber are out of spec.
Torque Specifications: Torque all torsion bar mounting and adjuster fasteners to GM specification.
Re-Torque Interval: Re-torque torsion bar adjuster bolts after the first 500 miles of driving post-installation.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
These torsion bars are a direct OEM replacement at stock ride height (with torsion keys installed) and do not alter wheel offset requirements or tire clearance beyond the factory specification. If torsion keys are used to achieve a lift above stock height, verify wheel and tire clearance at the elevated ride height before finalizing wheel and tire selection. Contact the OFAS team for torsion key and wheel/tire fitment guidance for your specific build.
Our team is standing by to verify compatible torsion keys and confirm your front ride height target before you order β torsion keys are required and should ship with this kit. Purchase with confidence; we review every build.
