Description
Is This for You?
- You're running a Clayton Off Road suspension lift on your 1993–1998 Grand Cherokee ZJ and your transfer case is the last unprotected component under the chassis. This 1/4" flat skid is the purpose-built armor for Clayton's ZJ long arm architecture.
- You're building a ZJ for technical trail use and need a skid plate that integrates with Clayton's 3-piece cross member and laser-cut subframe rails. This is not a universal fit — it's engineered to Clayton's specific ZJ mounting geometry.
- You already have Clayton's ZJ long arm system and want to complete the undercarriage armor package. The skid bolts directly to the front 3-piece cross member via countersunk Allen head bolts once rails are positioned and welded.
The Result
- 1/4" flat laser-cut steel skid plate designed specifically for Clayton Off Road's ZJ suspension lift platform — not compatible with stock setups or old-style cross members.
- Bolts to the front 3-piece cross member via countersunk Allen head bolts — the skid plate itself serves as the alignment reference for positioning the subframe rails before tack welding.
- Subframe rail spacing locked at 36-13/16" — Clayton's laser-cut subframe rails (sold separately) have pre-cut holes that align with the skid plate, eliminating manual measurement error during installation.
The COR-4104110 is Clayton Off Road's 1/4" flat transfer case skid plate for the ZJ platform. It was designed as a direct addition to Clayton's ZJ suspension lift kits and requires the Clayton 3-piece cross member and unibody frame rails to install. The installation sequence matters: attach the skid plate to the pre-laser-cut holes in the cross member first, then slide the subframe rails into position using the skid plate as the alignment reference, tack weld to lock spacing at 36-13/16", then complete the weld. If you're not using Clayton's laser-cut subframe rails, the spacing must be manually set to exactly 36-13/16" — refer to Clayton's instructional drawing for dimensional details. Old-style cross members and 2" tall unibody rails are not compatible with this skid plate geometry. Ships bare metal — coat before installation.

Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Installation sequence: Attach skid plate to pre-laser-cut holes in the 3-piece cross member first — use the skid plate as the alignment reference before positioning subframe rails.
- Slide Clayton laser-cut subframe rails into position, tack weld to lock spacing, then complete full weld. If using non-Clayton rails, manually set spacing to exactly 36-13/16" — refer to Clayton's instructional drawing.
- Old-style cross members and 2" tall unibody rails are not compatible — Clayton's current-generation 3-piece cross member is required.
- Skid plate attaches via countersunk Allen head bolts — use a hex/Allen socket; do not substitute standard hex head bolts in countersunk locations.
- Verify exhaust routing clears the skid plate before final installation — some aftermarket exhaust systems may conflict.
- Bare metal finish: Apply primer and topcoat before installation. Surface rust or cosmetic marks from shipping are expected and do not affect structural performance. Contact OFAS for freight/pallet shipping if cosmetic condition is a priority.

Wheel & Tire Fitment
No direct wheel or tire fitment restriction for this skid plate. Verify that your lift height and tire size do not create undercarriage clearance conflicts with the skid plate profile. Consult Clayton Off Road fitment documentation for your specific ZJ long arm configuration.
Engineering Question: Are you running Clayton Off Road's current-generation 3-piece ZJ cross member and laser-cut subframe rails? This skid plate will not fit old-style cross members, 2" tall unibody rails, or any stock ZJ suspension configuration. Confirm your suspension build and rail generation before ordering.
