Fitment, Shipping & Product Support
Is This for You?
- You're building or repairing a control arm, link, or fabricated suspension component using 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" wall square tubing and need a threaded insert for a 1"x14 left-hand thread rod end or adjuster. This insert is CNC machined for a press fit into that specific tube size β not a universal weld bung.
- You want a press-fit insert that goes in square and stays put before welding. CNC machining ensures the insert fits the tube ID precisely β press in with a hydraulic ram or a 5 lb sledge, verify square, then fully weld.
- You're building to Clayton Off Road's control arm tube standards and need matching hardware. Clayton offers these inserts for both 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" wall and 2"x2" 1/4" wall square tubing β this SKU is the 1.5" version with 1"x14 LH thread.
The Result
- CNC-machined for precise press fit β machined to the ID of 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" wall square tubing; no filing, grinding, or gap-filling required before pressing in.
- 1"x14 left-hand thread β matches standard left-hand threaded rod ends and adjusters used in adjustable control arm fabrication; left-hand thread allows length adjustment by rotating the tube without removing the rod end.
- Press-fit installation, weld to finish β press in with a hydraulic ram or 5 lb sledge, verify square alignment, then fully weld the insert to the tube for a permanent, structural connection.
The COR-2300222 is Clayton Off Road's premium CNC-machined tube insert for 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" wall square tubing, threaded 1"x14 left-hand. These inserts are used in the fabrication and repair of adjustable control arms and suspension links where a threaded rod end adjuster needs to be installed into a square tube. The CNC machining ensures a precise press fit into the tube ID β the insert goes in straight and stays put before welding. Clayton presses these in with a hydraulic ram in production; a 5 lb sledge hammer is sufficient for field or shop installation. After pressing, verify the insert is square to the tube axis before welding β a cocked insert will cause thread misalignment and binding at the rod end. Fully weld the insert after confirming square. Left-hand thread is standard for the adjuster end of an adjustable control arm β it allows the arm length to be adjusted by rotating the tube (one end tightens, one end loosens) without removing either rod end from the vehicle.

Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
Compatible With:
- β 1.5"x1.5" square tubing β 1/8" wall thickness only
- β Any adjustable control arm or suspension link fabricated to this tube spec
- β 1"x14 left-hand threaded rod ends and adjusters (standard adjuster thread for Clayton Off Road control arm systems)
Does NOT Fit:
- β 2"x2" 1/4" wall square tubing β different tube ID; see COR-2300xxx (2" tube insert SKU)
- β Round DOM tubing β this insert is machined for square tube ID geometry only
- β 1"x14 right-hand (RH) applications β this is a left-hand thread insert; verify thread hand before ordering
- β 1.5" square tubing with wall thickness other than 1/8" β tube ID will differ and press fit will not be correct
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Confirm tube ID matches the insert OD before pressing β this insert is machined for 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" wall square tubing specifically.
- Press insert into tube using a hydraulic ram or 5 lb sledge hammer β drive evenly to avoid cocking the insert during installation.
- Verify the insert is square to the tube axis before welding β use a square or straight edge to confirm alignment. A cocked insert will cause thread misalignment and binding at the rod end under load.
- Fully weld the insert to the tube after confirming square β do not rely on press fit alone for structural use.
- Allow weld to cool fully before threading in rod end or adjuster β heat distortion can affect thread engagement.

Wheel & Tire Fitment
Not applicable β this is a fabrication component. Fitment is determined by tube size and thread spec, not vehicle wheel or tire selection.
Engineering Question: Are you working with 1.5"x1.5" 1/8" wall square tubing, and do you need left-hand thread at this position? Confirm your tube wall thickness (1/8" vs 1/4") and thread hand (LH vs RH) before ordering β both affect which insert SKU you need.
