Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

Is This for You?

  • You're building a long-arm suspension system on your WJ and need structural rails that tie the front 3-piece crossmember to the rear long-arm frame brackets into a unified chassis foundation.
  • You understand the WJ is a unibody platform and you're adding weld-in subframe rails underneath to handle the increased load of a long-arm 4-link conversion.
  • You're a fabricator comfortable with MIG/TIG welding on unibody chassis and want laser-cut, bare-metal components ready for your own finish.

The Result

  • Laser-cut and bent from 3/16" steel β€” significantly heavier than the factory unibody floor structure β€” to handle long-arm suspension loads without flex or fatigue.
  • Bridges the Clayton Off Road front 3-piece crossmember and rear long-arm frame brackets, creating a continuous load path under the unibody floor.
  • Sold as a pair (driver + passenger), shipped bare metal, weld-in installation required.

The WJ Grand Cherokee uses a unibody construction β€” there is no traditional frame rail running front to rear. When you install a long-arm suspension system, the increased leverage and articulation forces need a structural path to transfer loads between the front crossmember and rear bracket mounting points. These Clayton Off Road unibody frame rails weld directly under the floor pan to create that connection. Laser-cut from 3/16" steel plate and CNC-bent for precise fitment, they are not frame stiffeners β€” they are structural subframe rails that weld UNDER the unibody to span between the front 3-piece crossmember and the rear long-arm frame brackets. Do not confuse these with bolt-on or adhesive unibody stiffeners. Welding is required, and these are raw fabrication components shipped bare metal for your own primer and finish.

Installation & Fabrication Notes

  • ⚠️ These are NOT unibody frame stiffeners. They weld UNDER the unibody floor to connect the Clayton Off Road front 3-piece crossmember to the rear long-arm frame brackets.
  • Welding is required. MIG or TIG with ER70S-6 filler recommended.
  • Clean, degrease, and remove any undercoating or seam sealer from all weld contact surfaces before fitment.
  • Dry-fit and verify rail alignment with both the front crossmember and rear brackets before tacking.
  • Tack weld, verify geometry, then run final weld passes.
  • Apply primer and chassis paint or powder coat immediately after welding to protect bare metal.
  • After installation, perform a full alignment check and set pinion angle per your lift height and driveline spec.

Wheel & Tire Fitment

These are structural chassis components and do not directly dictate wheel or tire sizing. Consult your Clayton Off Road WJ long-arm kit documentation for lift height and tire clearance recommendations. Typical WJ long-arm builds run 33"–35" tires depending on fender clearance and lift configuration.

Engineering Question: Are you running the complete Clayton Off Road WJ long-arm system including the front 3-piece crossmember and rear frame brackets? These rails are engineered to interface with both endpoints of that system β€” confirm you have the correct crossmember and bracket part numbers before ordering.
