Plate-only and hardware-only options: If you need the plate without hardware, order COR-4106112 ($284.00). If you need replacement hardware only, order COR-4106111 ($15.00). The COR-4106110 is the complete kit for new installations.

What Is and Is NOT Included

Included NOT Included
COR-4106112 transfer case skid plate — 1/4" bare metal steel Redesigned unibody rails (COR-2206210 — required; sold separately)
COR-4106111 complete hardware kit — Grade 8 fasteners, washers, lock nuts 3-piece long arm crossmember (COR-2106110 — required; sold separately)
Primer, paint, or coating for bare metal surface treatment
Welding equipment and drill for required fabrication steps

No additional hardware purchase needed for a new installation. Everything required to mount the skid plate to the WJ is in this kit. The only remaining requirements are the prerequisite COR-2206210 rails and COR-2106110 crossmember, and the fabrication tools (drill and welder) for the rail work.

Critical Compatibility

Identical compatibility requirements to COR-4106112 (plate only) — same plate, same fabrication requirements, same prerequisite components. The only difference is that hardware is included.

All four conditions must be true before ordering this kit:

  1. COR-2206210 redesigned unibody rails are installed (or being installed simultaneously using the skid plate as alignment jig)
  2. COR-2106110 3-piece long arm crossmember is installed
  3. Drilling and rewelding capability is available (or a fabrication shop has been scheduled)
  4. Exhaust routing has been verified to clear the skid plate position

If any of these conditions is not met, resolve it before ordering. This kit does not function without all four.

Scenario Result
1999–2004 WJ — with COR-2206210 rails + COR-2106110 crossmember Confirmed fit — drilling + reweld required
1999–2004 WJ — stock suspension Does NOT fit
1999–2004 WJ — old-style rails or 2" tall unibody rails Does NOT fit — upgrade to COR-2206210 first
2005–2010 WK Grand Cherokee Does NOT fit
WJ with aftermarket exhaust Verify routing before ordering

Installation Notes

Identical to COR-4106112 installation — same plate, same fabrication sequence. The only procedural difference is that no separate hardware order is needed before installation begins.

Skill level: Advanced — drilling and welding of WJ unibody rails required. Professional fabrication shop installation strongly recommended without welding experience.

Tools required: Welder, drill with appropriate bit, tape measure or calipers for 39.25" rail spacing verification, Allen wrench or hex socket (for socket cap screws), socket set and torque wrench (for hex cap screws).

Torque specification: 35–40 ft-lb for 3/8"-16 Grade 8 fasteners in steel — confirm against Clayton's installation documentation.

Installation sequence:

  1. Confirm COR-2106110 crossmember is installed.
  2. Use the skid plate as the alignment jig — position COR-2206210 rails at 39.25" apart with the skid plate in place to confirm spacing before drilling.
  3. Drill rails at required locations per Clayton's installation instructions.
  4. Reweld rails at confirmed 39.25" spacing.
  5. Apply primer and preferred coating to all bare metal on the skid plate.
  6. Install skid plate with included Grade 8 hardware — socket cap screws at recessed mounting positions, hex cap screws at standard through-bolt positions. Install flat washers on both sides of all through-bolt locations.
  7. Torque all fasteners to 35–40 ft-lb.
  8. Verify exhaust routing clears the skid plate.
  9. Re-torque all fasteners after first trail run.

Nylon insert lock nuts — single-use: Do not reinstall removed lock nuts. Replace with new hardware (COR-4106111) at any re-assembly.

Common Questions

What's included in this kit vs. COR-4106112?
COR-4106110 includes both the skid plate (COR-4106112) and the hardware kit (COR-4106111). COR-4106112 is the plate only — no hardware. For a new installation, order COR-4106110. Order COR-4106112 only if you already have hardware.

Does this fit my stock WJ?
No — this kit is explicitly not for stock setups. The redesigned unibody rails (COR-2206210) and 3-piece long arm crossmember (COR-2106110) are required. Without them, the mounting geometry for this plate does not exist on the WJ.

Why does this require welding when most skid plates don't?
The WJ is a unibody vehicle. Unlike body-on-frame platforms where skid plates bolt to existing crossmembers or frame rails, the WJ requires the redesigned unibody rails to be drilled and rewelded at precise spacing to create the mounting geometry for this plate. This is an architectural requirement, not a fabrication preference.

The skid plate is the alignment jig — what does that mean?
Clayton's recommended procedure is to position the COR-2206210 unibody rails at the required 39.25" spacing using the skid plate itself as the reference. The plate physically sets the correct spacing before rails are drilled and welded into place. This is why Clayton recommends purchasing the plate and rails simultaneously — welding rails without the plate risks a spacing error that prevents the plate from fitting.

Do the nylon insert lock nuts need to be replaced every time I remove the skid plate?
Yes. Nylon insert lock nuts are single-use by design — the nylon collar deforms on first torque and does not provide reliable locking force after removal. Order COR-4106111 for replacement hardware at any re-assembly.

The Obsidian Take

The COR-4106110 is the correct single-order solution for WJ builders who are ready to close out their Clayton long arm build with transfer case armor. Plate and hardware together, one purchase, nothing left to source separately.

The $15.00 premium over the plate-only (COR-4106112) is a straightforward decision: the hardware is purpose-specified for the WJ skid plate's mounting geometry. Socket cap screws at recessed positions, hex caps at standard through-bolt locations, Grade 8 nylon insert lock nuts throughout — all in one kit, all correct specs, no individual sourcing required.

The fabrication requirements documented on the COR-4106112 page apply here identically. Drilling and welding of the WJ unibody rails are mandatory. The skid plate's alignment jig function is the most important installation detail to internalize before ordering — buy the plate and the COR-2206210 rails together, use the plate to set spacing, drill, reweld, then install. In that order.

This SKU is for: 1999–2004 WJ Grand Cherokee builders on the Clayton long arm system with redesigned COR-2206210 rails and COR-2106110 crossmember who want the complete transfer case skid assembly (plate + hardware) in one order, have confirmed exhaust routing compatibility, and have welding capability or a fabrication shop scheduled.

This SKU is NOT for: Stock WJ owners, WJ owners on old-style rails, 2005+ WK Grand Cherokee owners, anyone who already has COR-4106112 and COR-4106111 separately, or anyone without welding access or fabrication capability.
