392 vs. 392 XR β factory lift distinction:
- Standard Wrangler 392 (2021βpresent): Comes from the factory with approximately 2" of lift. This 1.5" kit adds approximately 0" of net lift over the factory suspension β the heavier V8 compresses the springs to nearly the factory ride height. The tire fitment benefit (35" tires) and geometry improvement are the primary reasons to install.
- Wrangler 392 XR (2024+): Comes from the factory with approximately 1.5" of lift. This kit adds approximately 1/2" of net lift over the factory suspension on the XR.

Why 392-specific springs matter: The 6.4L V8 in the Wrangler 392 is significantly heavier than the 3.6L V6. Using standard JL springs (COR-3009015 rate) on a 392 results in the springs compressing far below the advertised lift height. The COR-3009315 uses stiffer spring rates calibrated for the V8's weight to deliver the correct ride height and proper suspension geometry. Using the wrong spring rate for this platform is one of the most common JL 392 suspension mistakes.

Critical Compatibility
The net lift reality on the standard 392 is the most important spec on this page.
The standard Wrangler 392 comes from the factory with approximately 2" of lift from Jeep's own suspension tuning. Clayton's 1.5" springs, when installed on the 392's heavier V8 platform, compress to approximately the factory ride height β netting approximately 0" of additional lift over stock. This is not a defect. This is physics β the spring rate is calibrated to the 392's weight, and at 1.5" that weight compresses the spring to factory height.
The reason to install this kit at 1.5" on a standard 392 is not to gain significant additional lift β it's to replace the factory non-adjustable suspension with 8 fully adjustable GIIRO arms that allow proper alignment correction, improve on-road handling, and set the geometry foundation for a potential step to the 2.5" or 3.5" kit later. The tire fitment at 35" is also a benefit at this height.
For buyers who want net lift over the factory 392 suspension, the 2.5" kit (approximately 1" net gain) or the 3.5" kit (approximately 2" net gain) is the correct starting point.
The 392 XR is different. The XR starts with a factory 1.5" lift, not 2". The same 1.5" kit gains approximately 1/2" of net lift on the XR β more than on the standard 392.

Installation Notes
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced β 8 adjustable control arms, front and rear track bars, all requiring post-installation alignment. Professional 4-wheel alignment using a shop with lifted JL experience is mandatory after installation.
Tools required: Standard suspension hand tools, torque wrench, floor jack and rated stands, alignment shop access.

Why won't this kit give me more lift on my standard 392?
The standard 392 comes from Jeep with approximately 2" of factory lift already dialed in. The 6.4L V8 also weighs significantly more than the V6. The 1.5" springs in this kit, calibrated for the 392's weight, compress to approximately the factory ride height on the standard 392 β netting essentially 0" of additional lift. If net lift above factory is the goal, the 2.5" kit (COR-3009325) adds approximately 1" and the 3.5" kit (COR-3009335) adds approximately 2".
What's the difference between the standard JL Overland+ (COR-3009015) and this 392 kit (COR-3009315)?
Spring rate. The 392 kit uses heavier-rate springs calibrated for the 6.4L V8's weight. Using standard JL springs on a 392 will result in the springs over-compressing and the truck sitting lower than intended. The 392-specific spring rate is required for correct ride height and suspension geometry on the V8 platform.
What's the difference between a standard 392 and the 392 XR?
Both run the 6.4L V8. The standard 392 comes from the factory with approximately 2" of lift and 35" tires on the Rubicon. The 392 XR (launched 2024) comes with approximately 1.5" of factory lift and 37" tires from the factory on the Xtreme Recon package. The net lift from this 1.5" kit differs between them: approximately 0" on the standard 392, approximately 1/2" on the XR.
Are shocks included?
No β shocks are sold separately. Clayton's Overland+ kits are sold without shocks across all platforms and lift heights.
Do I need the HD rear springs?
Only if you're consistently carrying 300+ lb of gear. The standard springs in this kit accommodate typical trail and recreational loading. The HD rear springs become relevant for overlanding setups, heavy accessory installs (winch, bumper, spare tire carrier), or frequent heavy cargo loads.
Will 35" tires fit at this lift height on my 392?
Yes β Clayton confirms 35" tires as the fitment target for the Rubicon and XR configurations at the 1.5" height.

The COR-3009315 is the entry-level geometry correction for the Wrangler 392 β and the most important thing to understand before ordering is that "1.5 inch lift kit" means different things on the 392 than it does on a standard JL V6.
The standard 392 already comes with approximately 2" of factory lift from Jeep. The 6.4L V8 is heavy. These two facts combine to mean the 1.5" springs in this kit compress to approximately the factory ride height when installed β netting approximately 0" of visible height change over the stock suspension. Buyers who purchase this kit expecting to see their 392 visibly taller after installation will be disappointed.
That's not the point of this kit at the 1.5" height on a standard 392.
