OEM replacement path (without full skid system): If you need gas tank protection but are not installing the Clayton transfer case skid or Clayton crossmember, add COR-4108200 — a bracket that connects this gas tank skid plate to the stock JK crossmember. Critical Compatibility
4-door vs. 2-door is the primary return-generating mistake on this SKU. The JK and JK Unlimited have different wheelbases — the 4-door's gas tank is positioned differently, and the skid plate geometry reflects that. Bare metal surface prep — required before installation:
Wire brush any surface rust from shipping. Apply primer and preferred paint, powder coat, or undercoating to all bare metal surfaces before installation.
Long arm system cutting note: If installing in conjunction with Clayton's long arm system, one mount on the gas tank skid plate must be removed. Use an angle grinder and follow Clayton's installation instructions for the specific cut location. Do not skip this step — the uncut mount will create interference with the long arm geometry.
