Description
Is This for You?
- You're welding in Clayton Off Road long-arm frame brackets on your LJ and need a precise, bolt-in jig to locate them correctly before you strike an arc.
- You want to eliminate guesswork on bracket placement — both driver and passenger side — so your 4-link geometry is dead-on from the start.
- You're a fabricator who knows that tack-weld-and-check is the right process, and you want a tool that makes that workflow fast and repeatable.
The Result
- Bolt-in templates precisely locate driver and passenger side long-arm frame brackets on the 2004–2006 LJ frame rail — no measuring, no guessing.
- C-clamp the new frame brackets against the template edge, tack weld, verify, then fully weld — clean process with zero rework risk.
- Sold as a pair (driver + passenger) so both sides are set simultaneously for consistent geometry.
Bracket placement is the most critical step in any long-arm conversion — a mislocated frame bracket throws off your instant center, pinion angle, and driveline geometry for the life of the build. The Clayton Off Road LJ location templates eliminate that variable entirely. They bolt directly into existing frame holes, giving you a fixed reference edge that positions the new frame brackets exactly where the Clayton Off Road 4-link system requires. The process is straightforward: bolt in the template, C-clamp the bracket flush to the template edge, tack weld, pull the template, double-check alignment, then run your final weld passes. No layout tools, no transfer punches, no measuring tape. The templates are designed specifically for the extended-wheelbase LJ platform, which has different frame geometry than the standard TJ — do not use on TJ builds.

- 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU — incompatible frame rail
- Any build not using Clayton Off Road LJ long-arm frame brackets
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Bolt templates into existing LJ frame holes before positioning any brackets.
- C-clamp new frame brackets flush against the template reference edge — do not weld with template in place.
- Tack weld brackets, remove templates, then verify alignment and bracket position before running final weld passes.
- MIG or TIG with ER70S-6 filler recommended for frame bracket welds.
- After final welds, perform rear alignment check — set caster and pinion angle per your lift height and driveline spec.
- Apply primer or chassis paint to all bare metal weld areas immediately after completion.

Wheel & Tire Fitment
These are fabrication tooling templates and do not directly affect wheel or tire sizing. Refer to your Clayton Off Road 4-link kit documentation for lift height and tire clearance recommendations for the LJ platform. Typical LJ long-arm builds run 35"–37" tires depending on fender modification and lift height.
Engineering Question: Are you using these templates with the Clayton Off Road COR-2207020 rear frame brackets specifically? These templates are engineered to that bracket's geometry — confirm you have the correct bracket part number before ordering to ensure the template reference edge aligns with your hardware.
