Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Clayton Off Road Adjustable Front Track Bar (COR-4506200) is the heavy-duty front track bar for the 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ, designed for 3.5" to 6" of lift. When a WJ is lifted, the factory fixed-length front track bar pulls the front axle laterally off-center, causing steering pull and uneven tire clearance. This adjustable bar corrects that offset. Built from 1-3/8" x 5/16" wall DOM tubing with a bent design for maximum clearance around the front axle and differential cover. Forged Currie Johnny Joint at the frame end for high-articulation, low-friction adjustment; maintenance-free dual durometer GIIRO/Clevite joint bushing at the axle end, offset for spring perch clearance. 9/16"-18 Grade 8 hardware throughout for proper clamping force and correction of egg-shaped factory mount holes. Center-to-center adjustable from 33-1/16" to 33-3/4". Lifetime warranty. Made in the USA.

Drilling is required at both the frame-side and axle-side mounts to accept the 9/16" hardware. This is not a pure bolt-in part β€” budget for drilling time at both ends.

Critical Compatibility

Configuration Notes
Lift outside 3.5"–6" range Not recommended β€” bar is engineered specifically for this lift window
Factory mount holes Both frame-side and axle-side mounts must be drilled to 9/16" before installation β€” not a direct bolt-in
Old axle-side mount nut Requires a 6-point 18mm combination wrench for removal
Front-end alignment Required after installation β€” verify steering wheel centering and axle clearance before driving on public roads

Common Questions

Is this a bolt-in installation?
No, not entirely. Both the frame-side and axle-side factory mounts must be drilled out to 9/16" to accept the included Grade 8 hardware. This is a straightforward drill operation per Clayton's instructions, but it is not a simple bolt-swap.

What tool do I need to remove the old axle-side mounting nut?
A 6-point 18mm combination wrench.

Will this work with any lift kit?
Yes β€” Clayton designed this bar to be compatible with OEM and aftermarket lift kits in the 3.5" to 6" range, regardless of brand.

Do I need an alignment after installing this?
Yes. Set the track bar length at ride height with the front axle centered, then have the front-end alignment checked before driving at highway speeds.

What's the difference between the frame-end and axle-end joints?
The frame end uses a forged Currie Johnny Joint for high-articulation adjustment. The axle end uses a maintenance-free dual durometer GIIRO/Clevite bushing, offset specifically for spring perch clearance on the WJ axle.

The Obsidian Take

The COR-4506200 is for the WJ owner running 3.5"–6" of lift who needs to correct the lateral axle offset that a fixed-length factory track bar creates. Johnny Joint adjustability, DOM tubing, Grade 8 hardware throughout, lifetime warranty.

The honest install note: budget for drilling at both ends, not just one. This is a confirmed correction to industry-wide product copy for this part β€” Clayton's own description and every authorized retailer agree both mounts need drilling to 9/16". Plan your install time accordingly, and have the front alignment checked after setting the bar length.
