DOM tube vs. OEM: The factory Jeep track bar is stamped steel — lighter and significantly less rigid than this 1-3/8" x 5/16" wall DOM tube. The bent design replicates OEM geometry while providing clearance for lift kit hardware and aftermarket components that a straight replacement bar cannot achieve.
GIIRO dual-durometer bushing: The GIIRO bushing uses two durometer layers — a softer outer layer for NVH isolation and road noise absorption, and a stiffer inner core for lateral load resistance. It is self-centering and maintenance-free for the life of the bar. The 9/16" Grade 8 thru-bolt hardware is intentionally oversized to allow drilling out the factory axle bracket hole — upgrading from the factory pin diameter to a significantly stronger attachment point without bracket replacement.
Johnny Joint frame-end: The frame-end adjuster uses a greaseable Johnny Joint with high misalignment capability. The frame-side track bar mount generates the highest lateral loads in the front track bar system — the Johnny Joint's rebuildability is an operational advantage over fixed rubber bushings that cannot be serviced when worn.

Companion bracket guidance:
Clayton recommends pairing this bar with a track bar bracket for a complete front track bar upgrade. Bracket selection is lift-height and platform-specific:
- TJ/LJ at 4–5": Bar installs without a drop bracket
- TJ/LJ at 5–7": Requires COR-4500420 drop bracket; Clayton also recommends COR-2400100 drop pitman arm when running the drop bracket
- XJ/ZJ at 3–6": Recommended bracket is COR-4500400
- XJ/ZJ at 6–8": Requires COR-4500410 drop bracket; Clayton also recommends COR-2400200 drop pitman arm when running the drop bracket
Critical Compatibility
Platform year range matters more on this SKU than on most.
The 1984–2006 span in the title covers four different platforms with two different production end dates. The XJ Cherokee ended in 2001. The ZJ Grand Cherokee ended in 1998. If your Jeep is a 2002–2004 Grand Cherokee, you have a WJ — not a ZJ — and this bar does not fit. If your Jeep is a 2005–2006 Grand Cherokee, you have a WK — also not a fit. The only 2002–2006 Jeep this bar fits is the TJ Wrangler and LJ Wrangler.
Lift height is the second most critical variable. The adjustment range on this bar is center-to-center 31-1/8" to 32-3/16" — a 1-1/16" total adjustment window. At lift heights below the recommended range, the bar will be too long to center the axle, and no amount of threading adjustment will bring it into spec. At lift heights above the recommended range without the appropriate drop bracket, the opposite problem occurs. If your build is outside the specified range for your platform, text (469) 407-7538 before ordering.
Factory axle bracket hole modification is required. The GIIRO bushing and 9/16" Grade 8 thru-bolt are intentionally oversized relative to the factory bracket hole. Drilling out the factory axle bracket hole to 9/16" is mandatory — not optional. This is a non-reversible modification to the factory bracket. If preserving the factory bracket in unmodified form is a concern, address that before ordering this bar.

Installation Notes
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced — requires drilling the factory axle bracket, torqueing at ride height, and post-installation alignment verification. Not a bolt-on swap from the factory bar.
Tools required:
- Drill with 9/16" bit (for factory axle bracket hole modification)
- Torque wrench
- Jack stands and floor jack (for suspension at ride height during torque)
- Tape measure or digital caliper (for axle centering verification — equal fender-to-tire distance both sides)
- Grease gun (for Johnny Joint initial lube)
- Front alignment equipment or alignment shop access
Step-by-step sequence:
- Drill out the factory axle bracket hole to 9/16" — required before the GIIRO bushing and Grade 8 thru-bolt can be installed. Do not attempt to force the bushing into the unmodified factory hole.
- Install the bar with the Johnny Joint at the frame end and the GIIRO bushing at the axle end.
- Set adjustment length with the suspension at ride height — not at full droop, not at full compression. Ride height is the only valid setting position for track bar length.
- Grease the Johnny Joint at the zerk fitting before first use.
- Torque the 9/16" Grade 8 axle-end thru-bolt at ride height, not at droop.
- Verify axle centering by measuring from the tire sidewall to the fender on both sides — adjust bar length until measurements are equal.
- Schedule a front alignment for toe and caster verification after installation.
GIIRO bushing service note: The axle-end GIIRO bushing is maintenance-free — no grease fitting, no service interval. Do not attempt to add grease to the axle-end joint.
Johnny Joint service note: Grease at the zerk fitting before first use and at regular service intervals (recommended with every oil change or off-road trip).
Drop pitman arm: If running a drop track bar bracket (COR-4500420 for TJ/LJ or COR-4500410 for XJ/ZJ), Clayton explicitly recommends pairing with the appropriate drop pitman arm (COR-2400100 for TJ/LJ, COR-2400200 for XJ/ZJ) to maintain correct steering geometry. Running a drop bracket without the drop pitman arm creates bump steer.
Common Questions
Why is my axle walking left or right after a lift?
The factory track bar is a fixed length calibrated for stock ride height. When you add lift, the changed geometry means the fixed bar no longer holds the axle centered under the vehicle — it pulls the axle to one side under the new geometry. An adjustable bar lets you dial in the correct length for your specific lift height to re-center the axle.
Do I need a track bar bracket with this bar?
It depends on your lift height. TJ/LJ builds at 4–5" can run this bar without a drop bracket. TJ/LJ builds at 5–7" need the COR-4500420 drop bracket. XJ/ZJ builds at 3–6" should run the COR-4500400 bracket for a complete upgrade. XJ/ZJ builds at 6–8" need the COR-4500410 drop bracket. If you run a drop bracket, also run the matching drop pitman arm to avoid bump steer.
Why does this bar require drilling the factory bracket?
The factory axle bracket hole is sized for the OEM pin diameter. The GIIRO bushing and 9/16" Grade 8 thru-bolt on this bar are intentionally larger — providing a significantly stronger attachment point. Many factory holes are already damaged ("egged out") from years of load on an undersized OEM pin. Drilling to 9/16" accepts the HD bushing without bracket replacement and resolves the root cause of egged-out OEM holes.
What's the difference between the Johnny Joint and the GIIRO bushing — why use different joints at each end?
The frame end sees the highest lateral loads in the track bar system and benefits from the Johnny Joint's greaseable, rebuildable, high-misalignment design. The axle end operates in a different load environment where NVH isolation matters as much as strength — the GIIRO's dual-durometer construction provides that isolation and self-centering compliance without maintenance. Different engineering solutions for different load environments.
Will this fit my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
No. A 2003 Grand Cherokee is a WJ — not a ZJ. The ZJ Grand Cherokee ended production in 1998. The WJ uses different front track bar geometry and this bar is not confirmed for that platform. Clayton offers a separate WJ track bar system.
My TJ is at 3" of lift — will this work?
No. The COR-4500200 is optimized for TJ/LJ builds at 4–5" of lift. At 3" of lift, the adjustment range on this bar will not allow you to center the axle correctly. If you're planning a future lift to 4"+, hold the bar purchase until the lift is installed. Text (469) 407-7538 if you want to confirm what's right for your specific build.
The Obsidian Take
The COR-4500200 solves the most common post-lift symptom on TJ, LJ, XJ, and ZJ platforms: axle drift. A lifted Jeep running the factory fixed-length track bar will always pull the front axle off-center — it's a geometry consequence of raising the chassis without adjusting the lateral constraint on the axle. This bar eliminates that condition with an adjustable DOM tube that dials in exact center at your specific ride height.
The joint selection matters and is worth understanding before you buy. The Johnny Joint at the frame end is the correct choice for the higher lateral load environment at the chassis mount — greaseable, rebuildable, and high-misalignment tolerant. The GIIRO bushing at the axle end trades rebuildability for NVH isolation — the dual-durometer construction keeps road noise and minor compliance loads from transmitting into the chassis while still handling the lateral forces generated at the axle mount. These are not interchangeable choices.
The factory axle bracket drill-out is the one step that separates this installation from a simple bolt-swap. It's not difficult, but it's permanent and it requires a drill and the correct bit size. If your factory bracket is already egged out from years of OEM-pin wear — which is common on high-mileage TJs and XJs — this modification also resolves that problem at the same time.
On bracket selection: the bar alone is sufficient for TJ/LJ builds at 4–5" and XJ/ZJ builds at 3–6". Builds outside those ranges need the appropriate drop bracket, and any build running a drop bracket needs the matching drop pitman arm to avoid bump steer. Don't run one without the other.
This SKU is for: TJ and LJ Wrangler owners running 4–5" of front lift, and XJ Cherokee or ZJ Grand Cherokee owners running 3–6" of front lift, who need to center their front axle after a lift and want a rebuildable, adjustable bar with lifetime warranty backing.
This SKU is NOT for: JK or JL Wrangler owners (different geometry), WJ Grand Cherokee owners (different geometry — separate product required), anyone below the minimum lift range for their platform (adjustment range won't reach center), or anyone unwilling to drill the factory axle bracket.
