Description
Is This for You?
- You're running 6–8" of lift on your 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ or 1993–1998 Grand Cherokee ZJ and your steering drag link angle is steep enough to cause bump steer or binding. A drop pitman arm lowers the drag link attachment point to restore the correct steering geometry at lift height.
- You're using a drop track bar bracket and need the pitman arm to match — keeping your steering drag link and track bar as close to parallel as possible. Clayton specifically recommends pairing this pitman arm with their drop track bar bracket for this reason.
- You want a forged, zinc-plated pitman arm that fits OEM and aftermarket steering boxes without modification. This is a direct-fit replacement — exact fit on your existing steering box, no adapters required.
The Result
- Forged drop pitman arm — forged construction provides superior strength over cast alternatives; designed to minimize steering drag link angle on XJ and ZJ platforms running 6–8" of lift.
- Gold zinc plating for corrosion resistance — protects the arm in undercarriage environments exposed to water, mud, and road salt.
- Exact fit on OEM and aftermarket steering boxes — no modification required; direct bolt-on to your existing steering box output shaft.
The COR-2400200 is Clayton Off Road's forged drop pitman arm for the Jeep Cherokee XJ (1984–2001) and Grand Cherokee ZJ (1993–1998) platforms. At 6–8" of lift, the factory pitman arm creates a steep downward angle on the drag link — this introduces bump steer and can cause binding through the steering range. A drop pitman arm lowers the drag link attachment point to reduce that angle and restore proper steering geometry. The engineering goal is to keep the drag link and front track bar as close to parallel as possible — when both are parallel, bump steer is minimized and the steering behaves predictably through suspension travel. Clayton recommends pairing this pitman arm with their drop track bar bracket when running a dropped track bar setup, so both the drag link and track bar maintain parallel geometry simultaneously. At 4 lbs and $149, this is one of the highest-value geometry corrections available for a lifted XJ or ZJ build.

Does NOT Fit:
- ❌ 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ — different steering geometry; see WJ-specific pitman arm
- ❌ 2002–2007 Jeep Liberty KJ — different platform
- ❌ Jeep Wrangler TJ/JK/JL — different steering box and pitman arm geometry
- ❌ Lifts under 6" — drop pitman arm is intended for 6–8" of lift; at lower lift heights the factory pitman arm geometry may be acceptable
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Remove factory pitman arm using a pitman arm puller — do not use a hammer or pry bar on the steering box output shaft.
- Install COR-2400200 on the steering box output shaft and torque to OEM specification for your steering box.
- After installation, verify that the drag link and front track bar are as close to parallel as possible when viewed from the side — adjust track bar length or use a drop track bar bracket if needed to achieve parallel geometry.
- If running a drop track bar bracket, install it in conjunction with this pitman arm to ensure both the drag link and track bar maintain parallel geometry simultaneously.
- Full steering alignment check recommended after installation — verify bump steer is eliminated through the full suspension travel range.

Wheel & Tire Fitment
No direct wheel or tire fitment restriction for this pitman arm. Intended for XJ and ZJ builds running 6–8" of lift — verify your specific tire and wheel combination clears the drag link at full lock after installation.
Engineering Question: Are you running a drop track bar bracket on your XJ or ZJ? Clayton recommends pairing this pitman arm with their drop track bar bracket to keep both the drag link and track bar parallel simultaneously. Also confirm your lift height is in the 6–8" range — this arm is engineered for that lift window specifically.
