Description
Is This for You?
- You already have the Clayton Off Road 2-piece transfer case skid plate (COR-4105100) on your TJ or LJ and your oil pan is still exposed. This engine skid plate is the direct forward extension of that system — designed to mate to it, not work around it.
- You're running an inline-6 TJ or LJ on technical terrain where a rock strike to the oil pan ends your trail day. At 41 lbs of steel, this skid covers the engine from the front bracket back to the main skid plate without gaps.
- You want oil pan protection that you can drop in 7 bolts without disturbing the rest of the skid system. The oil pan section removes independently for oil changes — no need to pull the entire skid.
The Result
- Front bolt-in bracket + rear bolt-on bracket — the front holds the skid via countersunk Allen head bolts to a dedicated front bracket; the rear attaches directly to the Clayton 2-piece transfer case skid plate (COR-4105100).
- No oil drain hole cut into the skid — a drain hole weakens the plate and creates a snag point on rock. Clayton's solution: remove the oil pan skid section (7 bolts) for oil changes, or drill your own 3–4" access hole if preferred.
- Inline-6 fitment only — engineered around the 4.0L I-6 oil pan geometry. Not compatible with 4-cylinder TJ applications.
The COR-4100900 is Clayton Off Road's engine and oil pan skid plate for the TJ and LJ platform, designed exclusively as a companion to the COR-4105100 2-piece transfer case skid plate. It is not a standalone skid — the rear bracket attaches to the main skid plate, so COR-4105100 must be installed first. The front bracket bolts in using countersunk Allen head bolts, keeping the underside profile flat and snag-free. Clayton made a deliberate engineering decision to omit an oil drain hole: cutting a hole reduces plate rigidity and creates a potential hang-up point on rock. The recommended service procedure is to remove the 7 bolts holding the oil pan section and drop it clear — a straightforward process once the skid system is installed. Customers who prefer a drain access hole have drilled a 3–4" hole themselves; this is a field modification, not a factory option. Ships bare metal at 41 lbs — coat before installation.

Installation & Fabrication Notes
- COR-4105100 (Clayton Off Road TJ/LJ 2-piece transfer case skid plate) must be installed before this skid plate — the rear bracket attaches to the main skid, not the chassis directly.
- Front bracket bolts in using countersunk Allen head bolts — use a hex/Allen socket; do not substitute standard hex head bolts in countersunk locations.
- Oil pan section is held by 7 bolts — remove all 7 to drop the section for oil changes. No special tools required beyond standard hand tools.
- Optional field modification: drill a 3–4" hole in the skid for drain plug access. This is a customer-performed modification — not a factory option and not covered under warranty.
- Bare metal finish: Apply primer and topcoat before installation. Surface rust or cosmetic marks from shipping are expected and do not affect structural performance.
- California Prop 65 Warning: This product can expose you to chemicals including those known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. See P65Warnings.ca.gov.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
No direct wheel or tire fitment restriction for this skid plate. Verify that your lift height does not create clearance conflicts with the front bracket mounting position. Consult Clayton Off Road installation documentation for your specific TJ/LJ configuration.
Engineering Question: Do you have the Clayton Off Road COR-4105100 2-piece transfer case skid plate already installed on your TJ or LJ? This engine skid plate cannot be installed without it — the rear bracket mounts directly to the main skid. Also confirm you are running the inline-6 (4.0L) engine before ordering.
