Phase 1 — Preparation:

What is the difference between this and a complete long arm kit?
This is an add-on conversion only. A complete long arm kit replaces the factory crossmember, upper arms, and lower arms. This kit adds only the upper 3-link arm and its weld-on mounts, converting an existing 4-link long arm front to 3-link geometry. If you do not already have a front long arm system on your LJ, this kit is not a starting point — it is a final conversion step for a build that is already long-arm equipped.
Why convert from 4-link to 3-link on the front?
A 4-link front geometry is over-constrained at extreme articulation angles — the four control arms resist each other's movement at the limits of droop and compression, creating bind. A 3-link front uses a single upper arm at a specific angle to control axle rotation, with two lower arms providing fore-aft and lateral control.
