Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

Verified Fitment

This kit fits the 1997 through 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ (2-Door) and the 2004 through 2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ Unlimited (4-Door). It is a front 3-link conversion add-on for TJ and LJ builds already running a complete front long arm system — it adds only the upper 3-link arm and weld-on mounts to convert an existing 4-link long arm front to 3-link geometry.

Note on LJ-specific version: COR-4807015 is the LJ Unlimited-specific version of this kit. If your vehicle is a 2004–2006 LJ Unlimited and you want the LJ-designated SKU, either COR-4805015 or COR-4807015 covers the LJ platform. If your vehicle is a 1997–2003 TJ (2-door), COR-4805015 is the correct SKU.

Year Range Make Model Configuration Prerequisite
1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ 2-Door Existing front long arm system required
2004–2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ Unlimited 4-Door Existing front long arm system required

Before ordering — confirm all five:

  1. Vehicle is a 1997–2006 TJ or 2004–2006 LJ Unlimited — not a JK or JL
  2. A complete front long arm system is already installed on the TJ or LJ
  3. A certified welder is available for the weld-on frame and axle mounts
  4. A front CV-style driveshaft with SYE kit is sourced and ready
  5. A custom exhaust can be fabricated or sourced

Does NOT Fit

Exclusion Reason Correct SKU
TJ/LJ builds without an existing front long arm system This is a conversion add-on — not a complete long arm kit. An existing front long arm system with lower arms and frame brackets must already be installed. See COR-4805012 (TJ front long arm complete kit) or COR-4807013 (LJ complete front 3-link kit)
Jeep Wrangler JK (2007–2018) Different front suspension architecture COR-4808122 for JK front long arm; see JK 3-link conversion for JK-specific upper arm
Jeep Wrangler JL (2018–2026) Different front suspension architecture Not applicable
Jeep Gladiator JT Different front suspension architecture Not applicable
Buyers without a certified welder Weld-on frame and axle mounts — load-bearing suspension brackets cannot be run on tack welds Not applicable
Buyers without a front CV driveshaft and SYE kit sourced Required before driving after conversion Source separately
Trucks with aftermarket front axles without a compatible truss Clayton D30 front truss highly recommended for Dana 30 axles — must be installed before welding the axle mount. Aftermarket axles require a compatible truss. Source axle-specific truss before ordering

Critical Compatibility

Condition Interaction Action Required
Existing long arm system required This kit adds only the single upper 3-link arm and weld-on mounts. Without a front long arm system already providing lower arms and frame brackets, this kit cannot form a functional suspension. Confirm a complete front long arm system is already installed before ordering.
Front axle truss — install before axle mount weld The 1/4" axle mount welds to the front axle tube at the upper arm attachment point. A front axle truss must be installed at this location before welding to reinforce the tube. Installing the axle mount without the truss risks axle tube deformation under sustained long arm loads. Install D30 front truss (or axle-specific truss for aftermarket axles) before welding the axle mount.
Weld-on mounts — permanent Both the frame mount and axle mount weld permanently to the TJ/LJ frame and front axle. Full-penetration welds required on all contact surfaces. Engage a certified welder with off-road chassis fabrication experience.
Custom exhaust The 3-link upper arm and weld-on frame mount positions conflict with the factory TJ/LJ front exhaust routing. A custom exhaust is required before driving. Plan custom exhaust fabrication concurrently with this build.
Front CV driveshaft + SYE kit The 3-link front geometry changes the front driveshaft operating angle beyond what a standard U-joint driveshaft can accommodate. A CV-style driveshaft with SYE kit is required. Source and install simultaneously with this conversion.
LH/RH thread in-vehicle adjustment Arm length can be changed by rotating the arm body — one end loosens as the other tightens. No arm removal required for length adjustment. Set initial length per Clayton's specification. Fine-tune geometry at ride height after full installation.

Installation Notes

Skill level: Expert — professional fabrication required. Identical installation requirements to COR-4807015 (LJ version).

Phase 1 — Preparation:

  1. Confirm existing front long arm system is installed.
  2. Install Clayton D30 front truss (or axle-specific truss for aftermarket axles) at upper arm mount location on front axle tube before welding.
  3. Plan and initiate custom exhaust fabrication.
  4. Confirm front CV driveshaft with SYE kit is sourced.

Phase 2 — Weld-on mount installation:

  1. Position the 1/4" frame mount and 1/4" axle mount per Clayton's installation instructions — verify position and angle before welding.
  2. Full-penetration welds on all contact surfaces. No tack welds on load-bearing joints.
  3. Allow welds to cool. Apply weld-through primer and chassis paint to all bare metal at weld zones.

Phase 3 — Upper arm installation and geometry:

  1. Install the single upper 3-link arm with Currie Johnny Joint at the frame end and GIIRO bushing at the axle end.
  2. Set initial length using LH/RH thread adjustment per Clayton's geometry specification.
  3. Set caster and pinion angle at ride height.
  4. Torque all hardware at ride height.

Phase 4 — Exhaust, driveshaft, and alignment:

  1. Complete custom exhaust.
  2. Install front CV driveshaft with SYE kit.
  3. Verify front driveshaft operating angles.
  4. Complete full front alignment — caster and toe.

Common Questions

What is the difference between this and COR-4807015?
Platform coverage only. COR-4807015 is designated specifically for the LJ Unlimited (2004–2006). COR-4805015 covers both the TJ (1997–2006) and the LJ Unlimited (2004–2006). Kit contents, joint specifications, fabrication requirements, and installation sequence are identical. If your vehicle is a 1997–2003 TJ (2-door), COR-4805015 is the correct SKU — COR-4807015 does not cover the TJ. If your vehicle is a 2004–2006 LJ Unlimited, either SKU applies.

What is the difference between this and a complete front long arm kit?
This is an add-on only. A complete front long arm kit (such as COR-4807013 for the LJ) replaces the crossmember, both upper and lower control arms, and frame brackets. This kit adds only the upper 3-link arm and its weld-on mounts to an existing long arm system. If no long arm system is currently installed, this kit cannot be used alone.

Why is a front axle truss required before welding the axle mount?
The upper 3-link arm's axle mount welds to the front axle tube. The long arm loads applied through the upper arm — particularly fore-aft loads at the extremes of suspension travel — can deform the axle tube wall at this point without reinforcement. The D30 front truss reinforces the tube at the mount location, distributing those loads across a larger area. The truss must be in place before welding the mount so both are joined in a single unified weld zone.

What happens if I try to install this without an existing long arm system?
The upper 3-link arm and its weld-on mounts have no lower arms to work with — the front axle would be partially supported with no lower control arm geometry. The kit is specifically a conversion component for a build that already has front long arm lower arms, frame brackets, and a crossmember in place.

What is the warranty on the control arm?
Clayton Off Road provides a lifetime warranty on the upper control arm. Confirm full warranty terms at claytonoffroad.com/pages/warranty-policy.

The Obsidian Take

This kit is for the TJ or LJ Unlimited owner who has already built a front long arm system and wants to convert the upper arm arrangement from 4-link to 3-link for maximum front axle articulation. The distinction from COR-4807015 is one line: this SKU covers the TJ (1997–2003) in addition to the LJ Unlimited. Everything else — the Currie Johnny Joint, the GIIRO bushing, the LH/RH adjustable upper arm, the weld-on mounts, and all four fabrication requirements — is identical.

The four fabrication requirements that make this a build decision, not a parts decision: certified welder for the mounts, custom exhaust that clears the new upper arm position, front CV driveshaft with SYE kit for the increased operating angle, and D30 front truss installed before the axle mount is welded. All four must be resolved before the truck moves after this conversion.

It is not a complete long arm kit. It is not for any JK or JL. And it is not the right purchase for a TJ or LJ owner who does not already have front long arm lower arms and brackets in place.

Non-Returnable Notice

Suspension components are non-returnable once installed. This kit requires permanent welding to the TJ/LJ frame and front axle. Confirm vehicle identity (1997–2006 TJ or 2004–2006 LJ Unlimited — not JK or JL), that a complete front long arm system is already installed, that a certified welder is available, that a front CV driveshaft with SYE kit is sourced, and that a custom exhaust plan is in place before ordering.
