The COR-1130300 is a two-piece weld-on bracket kit that upgrades Clayton Off Road's pocket-style ZJ Grand Cherokee crossmember to a 3-link rear suspension configuration. The brackets weld to the top of the crossmember and provide the upper control arm mount point required for a triangulated 3-link setup. Each bracket features an angled back side with a return — a pre-formed geometry that aligns the bracket to the correct upper mount position relative to the crossmember without requiring the fabricator to lay out and fit a flat bracket from scratch. The opposite face of each bracket is designed to weld to the optional Clayton ZJ axle truss (COR-1130101), creating a complete upper mount assembly when the truss and brackets are used together. Critical installation note: the brackets must be welded to the top of the crossmember before the crossmember is installed in the vehicle — once the crossmember is in place, access to the upper mount weld area is restricted and a full-penetration weld cannot be completed. Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Critical sequence: weld brackets to the crossmember BEFORE installing the crossmember in the vehicle. Once the crossmember is installed, access to the upper mount weld area is blocked and a full-penetration weld cannot be completed.
- Clean the crossmember top surface to bare metal in the bracket contact zone before fitting — remove paint, primer, and mill scale for full-penetration welds.
- Dry-fit both brackets to the crossmember and verify alignment to the upper 3-link mount position before tacking — the angled back side and return must seat flush against the crossmember surface.
- Tack both brackets in position and verify symmetry and alignment before final welding.
- Full-penetration MIG or TIG welds on all bracket-to-crossmember contact surfaces — do not stitch weld only on load-bearing joints.
- If using the optional COR-1130101 truss, weld the truss-side face of each bracket to the truss before crossmember installation as well.
- After welding, coat all bare metal with weld-through primer and chassis paint to prevent corrosion at weld zones.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Suspension bracket kit — no direct wheel or tire fitment restriction. Upper control arm geometry and tire clearance are determined by your 3-link arm length, lift height, and axle position, not by these brackets alone.
Engineering Question: Have you confirmed you are using the Clayton Off Road pocket-style ZJ crossmember as your base structure? These brackets are dimensioned for Clayton's specific crossmember geometry — they will not align correctly on a non-Clayton or aftermarket crossmember. Also confirm whether you are using the optional COR-1130101 truss, as the truss-side weld face on each bracket must be welded before crossmember installation.
