Verified Fitment

This track bar fits the 2005 through 2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty with 4WD, and only trucks running 2.5 or 4.5 inches of suspension lift. It will not install or function correctly on a stock-height truck or on any truck using a track bar drop bracket. Lift height is a hard fitment gate — not a guideline.

Year Range Make Model Drivetrain Required Lift Notes
2005–2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4WD 2.5" or 4.5" suspension lift Will not work at stock height or with drop brackets
2005–2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty SRW 4WD 2.5" or 4.5" suspension lift Will not work at stock height or with drop brackets
2005–2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty DRW 4WD 2.5" or 4.5" suspension lift Will not work at stock height or with drop brackets

The bar is engineered to correct front axle centering for specifically 2.5" and 4.5" of lift. These are the two lift heights Carli develops and validates suspension systems for on this platform. If your lift is a non-Carli height outside these two specific values, confirm fitment before ordering.

Does NOT Fit

Exclusion Reason
Stock-height trucks This track bar will not function at factory ride height — it requires 2.5" or 4.5" of suspension lift for correct geometry. Carli states this explicitly on the product page.
Trucks using a track bar drop bracket Not compatible with drop bracket configurations. If your lift uses a track bar drop bracket as a geometry correction method, this bar will not work with your setup.
2017–2026 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty Different platform. The 2017+ Super Duty uses a redesigned front end that requires the CS-FATB-17.
Ford F-150 (all years) F-150 front suspension is not a straight-axle solid front axle setup — track bar geometry correction is not applicable.
Trucks with lift heights other than 2.5" or 4.5" The adjustable range is validated for Carli's 2.5" and 4.5" lift systems. Non-standard lift heights may not achieve correct axle centering.
2WD F-250 / F-350 4WD only — 2WD Super Duty trucks use a different front suspension design.
1999–2004 Ford F-250 / F-350 Prior Super Duty generation — CS-FEX-PRBDROP is referenced for Excursion/pre-2005 F250/F350 geometry. This bar does not fit that generation.

Track bar drop bracket Not included and not compatible — do not attempt to use a drop bracket with this bar.

Critical Compatibility

Condition Interaction Action Required
Stock-height truck This bar is physically incompatible with factory ride height. It requires 2.5" or 4.5" of suspension lift to achieve correct geometry. Installing on a stock truck will not produce correct axle centering. Confirm lift is installed before ordering.
Track bar drop bracket Not compatible. Carli explicitly states this bar will not work with drop bracket configurations. If your existing lift uses a drop bracket for track bar correction, this is not the right part. Confirm your lift system's geometry correction method before ordering.
2.5" lift specifically Bar must be adjusted to the 2.5" setting. Correct adjustment re-centers the axle and keeps the factory axle ball joint load angle correct. Incorrect adjustment leaves the axle off-center and stresses the ball joint. Set bar length to 2.5" specification per Carli's installation instructions.
4.5" lift specifically Same as 2.5" — bar must be adjusted to the 4.5" configuration. The two settings are different adjustments of the same bar. Set bar length to 4.5" specification per Carli's installation instructions.
Worn factory track bar bushings A worn factory track bar rubber bushing is a primary contributor to front-end instability and death wobble on lifted Super Duty trucks. This bar eliminates the rubber bushing entirely at the axle end, replacing it with a machined tapered rod end. The FK Heim joint eliminates the rubber bushing at the frame end. Worn factory bushings should not be retained — replace this bar in its entirety. Replace factory bar completely with this unit. Do not retain factory components.
Alignment After adjusting and installing the track bar, front-end alignment is mandatory. Track bar adjustment affects axle centering, which directly affects alignment geometry. Schedule alignment immediately after installation.

Installation Notes

Skill level: Intermediate to advanced. Track bar replacement on a lifted Super Duty involves removing and reinstalling the front axle track bar under vehicle weight. A shop with straight-axle Super Duty experience is recommended.

Post-install alignment: Full front-end alignment is mandatory after installation. Track bar adjustment changes axle centering, which changes wheel alignment. Do not return the truck to normal driving until alignment is confirmed.

Critical adjustment step: The track bar must be adjusted to the correct length for your specific lift height (2.5" or 4.5") before installation. Installing at the wrong length will leave the front axle off-center. Follow Carli's installation instructions for the correct adjustment procedure.

Do not use with drop brackets: If your current lift setup uses a track bar drop bracket, this bar is not compatible. Remove the drop bracket before installing this bar, or confirm your lift system does not use one.

Common Questions

Why does my lifted Super Duty need a new track bar?
When the front of a straight-axle truck is lifted, the front axle moves down relative to the frame while the factory track bar holds its original geometry. This pulls the axle laterally off-center and changes the angle at which the factory axle ball joint operates. A worn factory track bar rubber bushing compounds the problem — any flex or slop in the bushing translates directly into steering input, front-end float, and in lifted trucks, the conditions that cause death wobble. This adjustable bar re-centers the axle and eliminates rubber bushing flex at both ends.

Will this stop my death wobble?
A worn or inadequate track bar is a primary cause of death wobble on lifted straight-axle trucks. Replacing the factory rubber-bushed bar with this unit eliminates the bushing flex at the axle end and the heim joint slop at the frame end. If your death wobble is caused by track bar geometry — which it frequently is on lifted Super Duties — this bar addresses the root cause. Death wobble can also be caused by worn ball joints, tie rod ends, or wheel bearings. Confirm the complete front-end condition before concluding the track bar is the sole cause.

Why doesn't this work on a stock-height truck?
The bar is engineered to correct axle centering geometry for 2.5" and 4.5" of lift. At factory ride height, the track bar geometry is within acceptable factory parameters and the bar's adjustment range does not provide the correct geometry for a stock truck. Carli states explicitly that this bar will not work on stock-height trucks.

Can I use this with a track bar drop bracket?
No. Carli explicitly states this bar is not compatible with track bar drop brackets. Drop brackets are a different approach to the same geometry problem — they drop the frame mounting point of the track bar to correct the angle. This bar corrects the same geometry by adjusting bar length without a drop bracket. The two methods are not compatible with each other.

What is the difference between this and the 2017+ track bar (CS-FATB-17)?
Two things: platform and joint design. The CS-FPRB-05 uses a machined tapered rod end at the axle and a 7/8" FK Race Heim at the frame. The CS-FATB-17 for the 2017+ Super Duty uses Carli's encapsulated uniball in a fully welded and strap-gusseted housing, paired with a massive FK Bearing Heim at the frame — a more advanced joint design developed for the redesigned 2017+ platform. Neither bar is interchangeable between generations.

What is the warranty?
Carli provides a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects to the original purchaser, with proof of purchase at Carli's retail price required. Wear items — including heim joint seals and bearings — are excluded from warranty coverage.

The Obsidian Take

This track bar is for the 2005–2016 F-250 or F-350 Super Duty owner who has lifted the truck 2.5 or 4.5 inches and is experiencing the front-end instability — floating steering, death wobble, or excessive steering input — that a lifted straight-axle truck produces when the factory rubber-bushed track bar is left in place. The machined tapered rod end and FK Race Heim joint eliminate the rubber compliance that makes the factory bar a liability under lift, and the adjustable length corrects the axle centering that lifting disturbs.

It is not for the stock-height Super Duty owner — the geometry this bar corrects does not need correcting at factory ride height. It is not for any truck using a track bar drop bracket — those are fundamentally incompatible installation approaches. And it is not for the 2017-and-newer Super Duty — that platform uses the CS-FATB-17, which features a more advanced encapsulated uniball joint design developed for the redesigned 2017+ front end.

At $438 and 17 lb, this is the most cost-effective geometry correction in the Carli Super Duty lineup for the 2005–2016 platform. If the truck is lifted and the steering feels vague, this is where the diagnosis starts.
