Why this matters vs. the Classic: The HD tier doubles the Cam Follower bearing count from 2 to 4. These are the primary load-bearing elements — the bearings that carry the weight of your cargo as the slide moves. More Cam Follower bearings means the HD handles the same static load distributed across twice the contact surface. At maximum capacity, the HD's bearing system has a combined static rating of 13,128 lb — operating at roughly 15% of its static ceiling at the 2,000 lb rated capacity.

What Is and Is NOT Included

No-drill kit compatibility: Bedslide's no-drill factory mount kits (BSA-GM6878, BSA-F150-2017, BSA-GM5871, etc.) are confirmed for Classic Silver, Classic Black, and S-model Bedslides only. No no-drill kit is compatible with the HD tier. Standard bolt-in installation is the only confirmed method for this SKU. Drilling into the bed floor using standard hardware or rivnuts is required.

Aluminum bed install kit: For any F-150 2015 or newer, order BSA-HALUMKT alongside this SKU. Bedslide explicitly states this on the HD product page — steel hardware against aluminum bed rails creates galvanic corrosion. This requirement applies to the HD tier the same as the Classic.

Critical Compatibility

The HD tier is a different product, not just a higher-capacity Classic. The construction differences are real and affect installation and use.

2019+ Silverado/Sierra T1 — same trap as the Classic page.
The T1's nominal "6.5-foot" standard box actually measures approximately 78.9" interior — sizing with the 79x48 platform (20-7948-HDB), not this 75x48. If you have a 2019 or newer Silverado or Sierra 1500, verify before ordering.

Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty exclusion.
The Super Duty short bed is a 6.75-foot box (~78.8" interior). The 79x48 HD platform (20-7948-HDB) is the correct fitment for the Super Duty short bed. This 75x48 SKU does not fit the Super Duty.

F-150 2015+ aluminum bed — BSA-HALUMKT is mandatory.
Bedslide's own HD product page states this requirement explicitly. If you have a 2015 or newer F-150, order BSA-HALUMKT with this SKU.

No-drill installation is not available on the HD tier.
Every no-drill kit in Bedslide's catalog is confirmed for Classic Silver, Classic Black, and S-model only. If you were planning a no-drill installation and need the HD's 2,000 lb capacity, that combination does not exist. Standard bolt-in with drilling is required for the HD across all applications.

HD side rails are taller than Classic.
The Classic uses standard guardrails. The HD uses 8-inch perimeter rails — taller containment for dense, stacked, or top-heavy loads. This matters for cargo that shifts laterally during extension — welding machines, hydraulic equipment, generator setups, compressed gas cylinders. The taller rails are an engineering choice for the use case, not a cosmetic upgrade.

Installation Notes

Skill level: Intermediate — drilling into the bed floor is required across all applications. No-drill option does not exist for this tier.

Estimated time: 1–2 hours with two people.

Shipping: LTL freight. Residential delivery included. OFAS will contact you after order placement to coordinate delivery scheduling. Inspect for shipping damage before signing the delivery receipt — note any damage on the bill of lading.

Tools required: Drill and appropriate drill bit or rivnut tool for bed floor mounting, socket set, wrench, and torque wrench. For aluminum beds (F-150 2015+): BSA-HALUMKT and the tools specified in that kit's instructions.

No no-drill option: The HD tier does not accept any Bedslide-manufactured no-drill bracket kit. This is a confirmed limitation across all no-drill kit product pages. If no-drill installation is a hard requirement, the Classic tier (10-7548-CLB) is the only route for this bed size — at 1,000 lb capacity.

F-150 2015+ aluminum bed protocol: Order BSA-HALUMKT with this SKU before placing the order. Installing without it creates a galvanic corrosion path at mounting points — Bedslide explicitly warns against it on the HD product page.

Bed liner removal: Bedslide explicitly states installation over spray-in or drop-in liners is not recommended. Remove liner before installation.

Two-person installation is required: At 73 lb and 75 inches long, the HD platform cannot be safely positioned alone. The dual pin latch and 8-inch rail system add complexity to the initial seating — two people for this installation is not a suggestion.

Tonneau cover clearance: Confirm at least 4.5 inches of vertical clearance above the bed floor before ordering any cover.

Common Questions

What actually makes the HD different from the Classic or Contractor?

Does the slide extend past the tailgate?
No. The HD operates at 75% (¾) extension — same as Classic and Contractor. It extends far enough to reach all of your cargo from beside the tailgate without climbing in, but does not travel past the tailgate plane. Bedslide's MAX Extension line is a separate product with 100% extension capability.

Do I need 2,000 lb capacity or will the Contractor (1,500 lb) be enough?
If your regular loads stay under 1,200 lb evenly distributed, the Contractor handles it with margin. The HD becomes the right answer when loads push consistently into the 1,200–2,000 lb range, when weight concentrates unevenly (dense equipment at one end), or when the load type includes heavy, top-heavy items where the 8-inch rails provide meaningful containment advantage over the Contractor's standard guardrails.

The 20-7548-HDB is Bedslide's maximum-capacity platform for the 6.5-foot short bed segment — and the decision to step to this tier from the Contractor should be based on engineering math, not aspirational load planning.

The bearing upgrade is the meaningful structural difference. Four Cam Follower bearings vs. two changes how the slide distributes load during extension and how it performs over years of daily commercial use. Under 2,000 lb of evenly distributed load, each Cam Follower bearing on the HD carries approximately 500 lb of static load — operating at roughly 15% of its rated ceiling.
