Aluminum bed install kit — required for 2017+ Super Duty:
The Ford Super Duty shifted to an aluminum alloy bed construction for the 2017 model year. Standard steel mounting hardware in contact with aluminum bed rails creates a galvanic corrosion path that damages the bed over time. Bedslide explicitly requires BSA-HALUMKT for aluminum bed applications. If your Super Duty is a 2017 or newer model, order this kit alongside your Bedslide. This is mandatory, not optional.

No-drill kit:
The BSA-F150-2017 no-drill kit is confirmed compatible with this SKU per Bedslide. It uses factory bed bolts — zero holes in your bed. Requires a T50 Torx bit and ratchet (not included). Confirm your bed bolts can be loosened before ordering. This kit is designed for F-150 bed bolt geometry and is confirmed by Bedslide to transfer to the F-250/F-350 application.

Lift block kit (FPLB1):
Some Super Duty configurations experience tailgate clearance interference at full extension. The FPLB1 lift block kit raises the Bedslide slightly to provide additional clearance. If you are running a tonneau cover or hard top cap, measure your vertical clearance before installation.

Critical Compatibility

2017 is the most important year split on this SKU.

The Ford Super Duty underwent a significant platform update for 2017, including the transition to aluminum alloy beds. The 79x48 Bedslide platform fits the 6¾-foot short bed across all generations from 1999 to present — but 2017 and newer trucks require BSA-HALUMKT to prevent galvanic corrosion at mounting points. Ordering this SKU without BSA-HALUMKT for a 2017+ truck is an incomplete order.

Super Duty short bed vs. long bed — measure before ordering.

The Super Duty is available in two bed configurations: the 6¾-foot short bed (~78.8" interior) and the 8-foot long bed (~96" interior). This SKU is sized for the short bed. If your Super Duty has a long bed, stop here and order 10-9548-CLB. If you're unsure which bed you have, measure from the inside front bulkhead to the inside face of the closed tailgate. If the measurement is approximately 78–79 inches, you have the short bed. If it's approximately 96 inches, you have the long bed.

F-350 DRW — no fitment restriction.

Both the single-rear-wheel (SRW) and dual-rear-wheel (DRW) F-350 configurations share identical bed interior dimensions on the 6¾-foot short bed. The dually wheel flares are exterior features; they don't reduce bed interior width. Both configurations are confirmed for this SKU.

Scenario Result

F-350 DRW — 6¾-foot short bed Confirmed fit
Super Duty with 8-foot long bed Does NOT fit — order 10-9548-CLB
Ford F-150 (any year) Does NOT fit — different platform
Ford F-450 / F-550 Not confirmed — verify before ordering
Pre-1999 Ford F-250 (OBS) Does NOT fit — different chassis
Any truck with spray-in or drop-in bed liner Liner removal required
Tonneau cover or truck cap Confirm 4.5" minimum vertical clearance; consider FPLB1 lift block kit

Installation Notes

Skill level: Beginner to intermediate — manageable as a two-person installation.

Estimated time: 1 hour.

Shipping method: This SKU ships LTL freight. Residential delivery is included. OFAS will contact you after order placement to coordinate delivery scheduling. Inspect for shipping damage before signing the delivery receipt — note any damage on the bill of lading before accepting.

2017+ Super Duty — aluminum bed is mandatory:
Before installation, confirm your model year. If 2017 or newer, order BSA-HALUMKT alongside this SKU. Do not attempt installation with standard steel hardware against an aluminum bed without the aluminum bed kit — galvanic corrosion at mounting points is a confirmed risk, explicitly stated by Bedslide.

Tools required: Basic socket set and wrench. For the no-drill kit: T50 Torx bit and ratchet (not included). For BSA-HALUMKT: confirm what additional hardware is needed and have drill and appropriate bits available.

No-drill installation:
The BSA-F150-2017 kit uses factory bed bolts as anchor points. Confirm bed bolts can be loosened before ordering — rounded or seized bed bolts require penetrating oil or bolt extraction before this kit can be used. If bed bolts are inaccessible or seized, standard drill-in installation is the fallback.

Bed liner warning: Bedslide explicitly states installation over spray-in or drop-in liners is not recommended due to thickness variation affecting alignment. Remove liner before installation on any Super Duty application.

Lift block consideration: If you're running a hard bed cap or tonneau cover that sits low on the bed rails, pre-measure vertical clearance. The Bedslide deck sits 4.5 inches above the bed floor. If tailgate clearance is tight at 75% extension, order the FPLB1 lift block kit simultaneously.

Two-person recommendation: At 73 lb and 79 inches long, this platform benefits significantly from a second person during initial placement and mounting alignment in the Super Duty bed.

Common Questions

My F-250 is a 2019 — do I need anything extra?
Yes. The 2019 F-250 has an aluminum bed (2017 was the transition year). Order BSA-HALUMKT alongside this SKU to prevent galvanic corrosion at the mounting points. If you also want no-drill installation, order BSA-F150-2017.

Does this fit my F-350 dually?
Yes — the F-350 DRW shares identical bed interior dimensions with the SRW on the 6¾-foot short bed. The dually configuration does not reduce interior bed width.

What's the difference between this SKU and the Contractor tier (15-7948-CGB)?
Capacity and construction. The Classic is rated at 1,000 lb with two guide bearings. The Contractor is rated at 1,500 lb and uses a heavier bearing configuration. For standard tool, gear, and equipment loads under 1,000 lb evenly distributed, the Classic is the correct tier. For consistent commercial loads near or above that limit, the Contractor (15-7948-CGB) is the right move.

Does the slide pull all the way past the tailgate?
No. The Classic operates at 75% (¾) extension. On a 6¾-foot bed, that provides substantial pull-out distance — enough to reach everything from beside the tailgate without climbing in — but does not travel completely past the tailgate plane.

Can I install this over my spray-in bed liner?
No. Bedslide explicitly advises against installation over liners — liner thickness variation affects alignment and long-term mounting stability. Remove the liner before installation or plan the liner as a post-Bedslide add-on.

What's the difference between the black (this SKU) and the silver (10-7948-CLS)?
Finish only. All dimensions, capacity, bearings, and structural specifications are identical. Black uses a custom edge-to-edge dark finish; silver is the standard steel treatment. For a truck seeing daily commercial use outdoors, black holds up to surface wear with less visible degradation.

The Obsidian Take

The 10-7948-CLB is the go-to Classic-tier answer for F-250 and F-350 Super Duty owners running the 6¾-foot short bed. The Super Duty short bed is fundamentally a contractor configuration — crew cab or SuperCab with enough interior space for passengers plus a bed long enough for job-site use. The Bedslide converts that bed into a pull-out drawer system that eliminates the #1 productivity drain on the work truck: crawling in and out of the bed.

The tier decision is worth getting right before purchasing. The Classic at 1,000 lb handles the majority of Super Duty short-bed use cases — organized tool storage, landscaping equipment, general contractor supply runs, recreational towing support. If you're stacking heavy materials, loading skids, or running maximum commercial payloads where the bed routinely sees loads approaching or exceeding 1,000 lb, the Contractor tier (15-7948-CGB) is the correct choice and the extra cost is justified.

On black vs. silver: for a working Super Duty that lives outdoors and sees commercial use daily, black is the pragmatic choice. It handles surface contact, dust accumulation, and general working environment better aesthetically. The structural difference is zero.

The one non-negotiable item: if you have a 2017+ Super Duty, BSA-HALUMKT is part of this order. Not optional. Bedslide explicitly states it for aluminum beds. The cost of the kit is a fraction of the cost of bed rail corrosion.

This SKU is for: 1999–2026 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty owners with the 6¾-foot short bed who need a 1,000 lb cargo platform in black, are prepared to address the aluminum bed requirement if on a 2017+ truck, and want a no-nonsense LTL freight delivery with two-person installation.

This SKU is NOT for: Super Duty owners with an 8-foot long bed (order 10-9548-CLB), F-150 owners (wrong platform), anyone needing 1,500 lb or 2,000 lb capacity (step to Contractor or HD tier), anyone planning to install over a bed liner, or anyone on a 2017+ Super Duty who hasn't ordered BSA-HALUMKT.
