The most common ordering mistake on this SKU: Tacoma owners with a 2016 or newer truck ordering this platform instead of the 10-5841-CLS. The 39" width is narrower than the third-gen Tacoma's interior — it will seat, but the fit is not the intended application, and the 41" platform is the correct SKU for those years.

Width distinction: The 10-5839-CLS is two inches narrower than the 10-5841-CLS (39" vs. 41"). This is not a cosmetic or minor specification difference — these two SKUs are sized for different truck generations. The 39" platform targets the narrower interior width of first and second-gen Tacoma beds (2002–2015) and both generations of the Colorado/Canyon 5-foot bed (2004–2022). If you have a 2016+ Tacoma, you need the 10-5841-CLS.

These two platforms share identical length (58"), identical capacity (1,000 lb), and identical tier (Classic 1000). The only difference is two inches of width — and those two inches are what separates the correct SKU from the wrong one across three decades of mid-size truck production.
Toyota Tacoma — generation is everything here.
The first-gen Tacoma (1995–2004) and second-gen Tacoma (2005–2015) had a narrower bed interior width than the third-gen (2016–2023) redesign. The 10-5839-CLS at 39 inches is correctly sized for the first and second-gen beds. The third-gen and fourth-gen Tacoma use the 10-5841-CLS at 41 inches wide.
The second-gen Tacoma (2005–2015) is the highest-volume application on this SKU. If your Tacoma is a 2005–2015 Double Cab with the 5-foot short bed, this is your platform. If your Tacoma is a 2016 or newer, stop and go to the 10-5841-CLS listing.
Colorado / Canyon — first and second gen share this SKU.
The first-gen Colorado/Canyon (2004–2012) and second-gen Colorado/Canyon (2015–2022) both use the 5-foot bed and both fit this platform. The third-gen (2023+) Colorado/Canyon is a different architecture and is covered by the 10-5841-CLS.
Note on 2013–2014 Colorado/Canyon: These model years did not exist — GM discontinued the first-gen Colorado and Canyon after 2012 and did not relaunch the nameplate until 2015. There is no 2013 or 2014 Colorado or Canyon.

No-drill installation — Colorado / Canyon 2004–2022:
Bedslide offers a no-drill factory mount kit for the Colorado/Canyon 5-foot bed covering 2004–2022. This kit uses factory anchor points — zero holes drilled in your bed. Sold separately. Compatible with Classic Silver, Classic Black, and S-model Bedslides. Not compatible with the Contractor tier.
Tacoma installation (all years): Standard bolt-in. No Bedslide no-drill kit is confirmed for the 2002–2015 Tacoma on this SKU. Basic hand tool installation using existing bed hardware.
Bed liner warning: Bedslide does not recommend installation over spray-in or drop-in bed liners. Liner thickness varies and can compromise mounting alignment. Remove liner before installation.
Two-person installation: At 73 lb this is manageable, but significantly easier to position and align in a narrow first or second-gen Tacoma bed with a second person.

What's the difference between the 10-5839-CLS and the 10-5841-CLS?
Two inches of width — and the vehicle generation split that goes with it. The 10-5839-CLS at 39" is sized for the 2002–2015 Tacoma and 2004–2022 Colorado/Canyon. The 10-5841-CLS at 41" is sized for the 2016–2023 Tacoma, current Frontier, 2023+ Colorado/Canyon, and 2019–2025 Ranger. Everything else — length, capacity, tier, bearing specs, extension — is identical. If you have a 2016 or newer Tacoma, you need the 10-5841-CLS.
My Tacoma is a 2014 Access Cab with the 6-foot bed — does this fit?
No. The Access Cab pairs with the 6-foot long bed regardless of year. This SKU is for 5-foot short beds. A different Bedslide is required for the 6-foot Access Cab configuration.
Does this fit my 2008 Chevy Colorado?
Yes — the 2008 Colorado is first-gen and confirmed for this SKU with the 5-foot short bed.
What's the difference between this SKU and 10-5839-CLB?
Finish only. The 10-5839-CLS is silver. The 10-5839-CLB is black. All dimensions, capacity, bearings, and structural specifications are identical.
Does the slide go all the way past the tailgate?
No. The Classic operates at 75% (¾) extension. It extends far enough to access every part of your load from beside the tailgate without climbing in — but does not travel completely past the tailgate plane. Full-extension models are available in the Contractor and HD tiers.
Can I install this over my bed liner?
Bedslide advises against installation over spray-in or drop-in liners. Plan on removing the liner before installation, as liner thickness variation affects alignment and long-term mounting stability.

The 10-5839-CLS is a generation-locked platform. It exists specifically for two trucks: the first and second-gen Tacoma (2002–2015) and the first and second-gen Colorado/Canyon (2004–2022). Every other Bedslide in the mid-size lineup serves newer trucks. This SKU serves the trucks that defined the accessible mid-size segment for nearly two decades — and a significant number of those trucks are still in daily service, which is why this SKU still needs its own listing.
The two-inch width difference between the 10-5839 and the 10-5841 is real but rarely the deciding factor in load performance. What matters is that you're on the correct platform for your bed. A 39" platform in a 41" bed is not structurally dangerous, but it's not the intended fit and can create mounting alignment issues. Do not use this SKU on a 2016+ Tacoma.
For second-gen Tacoma Double Cab owners (2005–2015) and Colorado/Canyon owners through 2022, this is the right Classic-tier entry point. One capacity tier (1,000 lb), one functional extension (75%), one simple installation. If your workload stays under 1,000 lb distributed evenly, the Classic handles it cleanly for years.
