Tacoma generation guide:
- First gen (1995–2004): Not confirmed for this SKU — do not order without verification
- Second gen (2005–2015): Confirmed — 5-foot short bed, Double Cab configuration
- Third gen (2016–2023): Confirmed — 5-foot short bed, Double Cab configuration
- Fourth gen (2024+): Does NOT fit this SKU — a different Bedslide is required; text (469) 407-7538 for the correct SKU
Tacoma bed confirmation tip: Tacoma bed length is determined by cab style. Double Cab configurations pair with the 5-foot short bed. Access Cab configurations pair with the 6-foot long bed. If you have an Access Cab Tacoma, this is not your SKU.

Critical Compatibility
Two vehicles, two different compatibility considerations — read both before ordering.
Toyota Tacoma — generation cutoff is the single most important detail.
The Tacoma has been through four distinct generations. The 5-foot short bed dimensions stayed broadly consistent from 2005 through 2023 (second and third gen), making this a long-running confirmed fitment. The first-gen Tacoma (1995–2004) uses a different bed configuration and is not confirmed for this SKU. The fourth-gen Tacoma (2024+) underwent a redesign that changed bed rail geometry and anchor points — Bedslide produces a different platform for that truck. If you have a 2024 or newer Tacoma, this SKU will not work.
The other critical variable on the Tacoma is cab style. The 5-foot short bed is a Double Cab bed. If you have an Access Cab (2005–2023) or XtraCab (2024+), your bed is 6 feet long — different SKU required.
Dodge Dakota — bed length verification required.
The Dakota came in two bed lengths: a 5.4-foot short bed and a 6.6-foot long bed. This SKU is sized for the 5.4-foot configuration only. If you have the long bed Dakota, order 10-7543-CLS. If you're unsure which bed you have, measure from the inside front bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate.
| Scenario | Result |
|---|---|
| 2005–2023 Tacoma — Double Cab — 5-foot short bed | Confirmed fit |
| 2024+ Tacoma (fourth gen, any cab) | Does NOT fit — different SKU required |
| 2005–2023 Tacoma — Access Cab — 6-foot long bed | Does NOT fit — order 6-foot Tacoma SKU |
| 1995–2004 Tacoma (first gen) | Not confirmed — do not order without verification |
| 1997–2011 Dodge Dakota — 5.4-foot short bed | Confirmed fit |
| 1997–2011 Dodge Dakota — 6.6-foot long bed | Does NOT fit — order 10-7543-CLS |
| Any vehicle with spray-in or drop-in bed liner | Liner removal required; installation over liner not recommended |
| Tonneau cover or truck cap compatibility | Confirm 4.5" minimum clearance above bed floor |
Installation Notes
Skill level: Beginner to intermediate — manageable as a two-person installation.
Estimated time: 1 hour.
Shipping method: This SKU ships LTL freight. Residential delivery is included. OFAS will contact you after order placement to coordinate delivery scheduling. Inspect the unit for shipping damage before signing the delivery receipt — note any damage on the bill of lading before accepting.
Tools required: Basic hand tools (socket set and wrench). For the 2016–2019 Tacoma no-drill kit: T50 Torx bit and ratchet required (not included in the kit).
Tacoma no-drill option (2016–2019 only): Bedslide's factory no-drill mount kit for the 2016–2019 Tacoma 5-foot bed uses existing factory bed bolts — zero holes in your bed. Sold separately. Confirm your bed bolts can be loosened before ordering. Not available for 2005–2015 Tacoma or Dodge Dakota on this SKU.
Bed liner warning: Bedslide does not recommend installation over spray-in or drop-in liners. Liner thickness varies by brand and creates mounting inconsistency. Remove liner before installation.
Tacoma factory bed liner note: 2023 and newer Tacomas came standard with a composite factory spray-in liner from the factory. If your Tacoma has this installed, discuss removal or work-around options with your installer before ordering.
Two-person installation: At 73 lb, this platform is manageable but significantly easier to position and align with a second person, particularly in a narrow Tacoma bed.
Clearance check: Confirm at least 4.5 inches of vertical clearance if running a tonneau cover or truck cap. Measure before purchasing either product.
Common Questions
Does this fit my 2022 Tacoma Double Cab with the 5-foot bed?
Yes — the 2022 Tacoma is third generation and this SKU is confirmed for 2005–2023 second and third gen Tacoma Double Cab with the 5-foot short bed.
Does this fit my 2024 Tacoma?
No. The 2024 Tacoma is a fourth-generation redesign that requires a different Bedslide. Text (469) 407-7538 and we'll identify the correct SKU for your fourth-gen Tacoma.
Does this fit my Tacoma Access Cab?
No. The Access Cab pairs with the 6-foot long bed in all Tacoma generations. This SKU is sized for the 5-foot short bed, which is a Double Cab bed. If you have an Access Cab, a different Bedslide SKU is required.
What's the difference between 10-6243-CLS and 10-6243-CLB?
Finish only. The 10-6243-CLS is silver. The 10-6243-CLB is black. All dimensions, capacity, and specifications are identical.
My Dakota has a long bed — does this fit?
No. The 62" platform is sized for the 5.4-foot short bed. For the 6.6-foot Dakota long bed, order 10-7543-CLS.
Does the slide pull all the way past the tailgate?
No. The Classic operates at 75% (¾) extension. It extends far enough to reach everything from beside the tailgate without climbing in — but does not travel completely past the tailgate plane. For full-extension capability, the Contractor tier (15-6243-CG) is available in this size.
The Obsidian Take
The 10-6243-CLS is purpose-sized for the Toyota Tacoma Double Cab short bed (2005–2023) and the Dodge Dakota short bed (1997–2011). Both are mid-size trucks with narrower beds than full-size platforms — the 43" width here is engineered for those narrower interiors, and it shows in the fitment specificity.
For Tacoma owners, this SKU covers nearly two full decades of the same basic bed configuration. The second and third gen Tacoma short bed stayed consistent enough in interior dimensions that one platform covers both generations — that's a significant convenience for the aftermarket, and it means if you're on any 2005–2023 Double Cab short bed, the fit is known and confirmed. The first-gen and fourth-gen caveats are real, and they're why the year range on this page matters more than on most other SKUs in this catalog.
For Dakota owners, the truck is discontinued but still widely in service, particularly as a work and field truck in rural and agricultural markets. If you're still running a Dakota hard, this is one of the few properly-sized cargo access platforms still available at Classic-tier pricing.
The Classic vs. Contractor decision is the same here as everywhere else in the lineup. Sub-1,000 lb evenly distributed loads — tools, gear, camping equipment, moderate contractor runs — the Classic handles cleanly. Consistent heavy commercial loading near or above that limit calls for the Contractor tier (15-6243-CG) with its higher capacity rating.
This SKU is for: 2005–2023 Tacoma Double Cab owners with the 5-foot short bed, and 1997–2011 Dodge Dakota owners with the 5.4-foot short bed, who want a 1,000 lb silver cargo platform with LTL freight delivery.
This SKU is NOT for: 2024+ fourth-gen Tacoma owners (different bed — separate SKU required), first-gen Tacoma owners (1995–2004 — not confirmed), Tacoma Access Cab owners (6-foot bed — wrong SKU), long-bed Dakota owners (order 10-7543-CLS), anyone needing full-extension travel past the tailgate, or anyone planning to install over an existing bed liner.
