Critical Compatibility
| Condition | Interaction | Action Required |
|---|---|---|
| Rear leaf spring count — critical buyer decision | BDS confirms some F250/350 trucks have a 2-leaf main rear spring pack; trucks with top overload options have a 3-leaf main. The incorrect leaf spring selection will produce incorrect ride height and handling. | Check the factory rear leaf spring pack before ordering — count the number of main leafs and select the matching rear option at checkout. |
| T-Case indexing ring — manual shift transfer case | The indexing ring is not designed for manual shift T-case models. If your truck has a manual shift transfer case, modification of the shift cable mount is required before installation. | Confirm T-case type (manual or electronic shift) before ordering. |
| T-Case indexing ring — 6.2L gas / 6R100 | The indexing ring does not fit the 6.2L gas engine when paired with the 6R100 transmission. | Diesel-only application — confirmed. |
| Factory rear sway bar | If the truck has a factory rear sway bar, BDS part 123005 must be added. Not including this part with a factory rear sway bar-equipped truck results in incomplete installation. | Confirm factory rear sway bar presence and add BDS 123005 at checkout. |
| 2-piece rear driveshaft | BDS states a Carrier Bearing Drop Kit (BDS123402) may be required for trucks with a 2-piece rear driveshaft. At 6" of lift, the carrier bearing angle will be out of range without a drop kit. | Confirm driveshaft configuration — 1-piece or 2-piece — and add BDS123402 if needed. |
| F-350 Limited — All drivetrain / All fuel | BDS's own fitment table lists 2018 and 2019 F-350 Limited with "ALL" drive type and "ALL" fuel type — this may include AWD or gas configurations of the Limited trim. | If you have an F-350 Limited, text (469) 407-7538 to confirm your specific drivetrain and engine combination is compatible before ordering. |
| 38" × 13.5" tire fitment | BDS confirms fitment for 38" × 13.5" tires with 17×9, 17×10, or 20×10 wheels at 5" backspace. Minor trimming may be required on the 13.5"-wide tires. | Confirm wheel backspacing is 5" before ordering if running 38" tires. |
Installation Notes
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced. BDS rates this as a 100% bolt-on system — no cutting or welding required. However, the scope of this installation (4-Link control arm conversion, T-Case indexing, transmission crossmember, front coil springs, rear block, and four shocks) requires a qualified shop with Super Duty lift experience and the correct equipment.
T-Case indexing ring: The transfer case must be indexed to allow factory front driveshaft use at 6" of lift. The ARP-stud indexing ring clocks the transfer case for improved front driveline angle. This step requires transfer case removal or in-vehicle installation depending on shop capability. Manual shift T-case trucks require additional modification.
Front alignment: A full front-end alignment is mandatory after installation.
Post-install alignment torque check: BDS recommends a re-torque of all fasteners and an alignment check after 500–1,000 miles.
Required tools (professional shop):

Common Questions
What is a 4-Link conversion and why does this kit include one?
The factory 2017–2019 Super Duty uses stamped steel radius arms for front suspension geometry. At 6" of lift, the factory radius arm geometry creates axle positioning errors and caster change through the wheel travel arc. The BDS 4-Link conversion replaces the factory radius arm setup with HD upper and lower control arms on ¼" steel bolt-on brackets, correcting axle positioning and limiting caster change throughout wheel travel. The result is more predictable handling, better stability, and improved steering feel at 6" of lift compared to a coilover-only system using factory radius arms.
Why does this kit require transfer case indexing?
At 6" of front lift, the front driveshaft operating angle changes enough that the factory driveshaft will not function correctly without indexing the transfer case. The BDS ARP-stud indexing ring physically clocks the transfer case body to improve the front driveline angle, allowing the factory front driveshaft to be retained. If this step is skipped, the front driveshaft will operate outside its designed angle range and vibration or driveshaft damage will result.
How do I know if my truck has a 2-leaf or 3-leaf rear main spring pack?
Look at the rear leaf spring assembly from underneath the truck — count the number of main leaves (not the helper or overload leaves). Trucks with the overload/top load package have 3-leaf mains. Most standard F250/350s have 2-leaf mains. Selecting the wrong option will result in incorrect rear ride height. Text (469) 407-7538 if unsure.
Which shock option should I choose?
NX2 Nitro is the base option — correct for on-road and moderate trail use, included in the base price. FOX 2.0 Performance Series upgrades to an IFP monotube shock for better heat management and off-road control. FOX 2.5 Performance Elite adds an external reservoir and DSC adjuster — the correct choice for serious off-road use and maximum adjustability. All three options are custom-tuned for this specific BDS application.
Does this fit the F-350 DRW (Dually)?
No — BDS confirms in their Important Notes that this kit is SRW models only.
What is the warranty?
BDS Suspension provides a Limited Lifetime Warranty on their suspension components. Confirm warranty terms at bdssuspension.com. FOX shocks carry a 1-year manufacturer's warranty (FOX 2.5 Performance Elite Series confirmed).
The Obsidian Take
This kit is for the 2017–2019 F-250 or F-350 Super Duty Diesel SRW owner who wants 6 inches of front lift with a complete geometry correction — not a coilover-only system that leaves the factory radius arms in place. The 4-Link conversion is the defining feature of BDS1527FS: the ¼" bolt-on brackets and HD upper and lower arms correct the axle positioning error that factory radius arms produce at this lift height, and they limit caster change through wheel travel in a way that factory radius arms cannot. At 6", the difference between a proper 4-Link and a radius-arm-only setup is felt in every steering input on and off the road.
The T-Case indexing ring is the other component that separates a properly installed 6" Super Duty from a truck that vibrates. At this lift height, the front driveshaft angle requires the transfer case to be clocked — skipping this step produces front driveshaft vibration under load. The kit includes everything needed to do it correctly.
There are four things to confirm before ordering: SRW configuration, diesel engine, rear leaf spring count (2-leaf or 3-leaf main), and whether the truck has a factory rear sway bar or a 2-piece rear driveshaft. Each of these requires a different add-on or option selection. Getting them right before checkout prevents a partial installation.
It is not for DRW trucks. It is not for gas-powered Super Dutys, particularly the 6.2L with 6R100. And it is not a complete installation without the correct rear leaf spring selection, sway bar add-on if applicable, and carrier bearing drop if the truck has a 2-piece driveshaft.
