Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The BDS 6673FS is a 6-inch lift kit with FOX 2.0 Performance Series shocks for the 2009–2013 Ram 2500 4WD diesel. Front lift is delivered via diesel-tuned coil springs and geometry-correct radius arm correction brackets. Rear lift is matched via replacement leaf springs and 4-inch axle blocks. The complete front-to-rear system is engineered for the 2009–2013 Ram 2500 diesel platform — diesel engine weight, diesel towing loads, diesel geometry requirements throughout.

This kit has three hard fitment splits before it applies to your truck.

First — engine: the front coil springs in this kit are diesel-tuned. Ram 2500 gas has different front suspension weight requirements — a different kit is required.

Second — generation: the 2009–2013 Ram 2500 is a specific platform generation. The 2014 and newer Ram 2500 is a different platform — order 1660FS (FOX 2.0) or 1660FPE (FOX 2.5 PE). The 2008 Ram 2500 requires 680FS or 681FS. The 2003–2007 Ram 2500 requires 236FS or 266FS.

Third — drivetrain: 4WD only. Ram 2500 2WD is not compatible.

Confirm all three before ordering. Text (469) 407-7538 if you are unsure which Ram 2500 generation you have.

Tire Clearance

At 6 inches of lift on the 2009–2013 Ram 2500 diesel platform, typical fitment runs 37–40-inch tires depending on wheel offset and backspacing. Confirm maximum tire diameter and wheel specifications with your wheel and tire supplier before ordering — clearance varies based on offset, backspacing, and any additional trimming.

Installation Notes

Professional installation is required. A 6-inch lift with leaf spring replacement on a diesel platform requires a qualified suspension shop with experience on heavy-duty truck platforms. This is not a bolt-on leveling kit. Do not attempt DIY installation.

Full front-end alignment is mandatory after installation. Do not drive on public roads before alignment is completed. Running a lifted truck without post-installation alignment causes accelerated tire wear, steering pull, and handling instability at diesel platform weights.

Driveline inspection is mandatory at 6-inch lift. At 6 inches, inspect driveshaft angles and U-joint operating angles after installation. Driveshaft modification may be required depending on your specific truck's configuration — confirm with your installer before the job begins.

Rear axle block installation. 4-inch axle blocks must be installed per BDS specifications. Confirm U-bolt torque specs and axle centering after installation — improperly centered axle blocks cause driveline vibration and premature U-joint wear.

Torque all fasteners to BDS specification. Torque specs are included in the BDS installation instructions. Do not estimate torque values on a diesel-weight platform.

FOX shock break-in period. Allow FOX 2.0 shocks to complete the manufacturer-recommended break-in period before aggressive off-road or heavy towing use.

The Obsidian Take

The BDS 6673FS is the correct kit for the 2009–2013 Ram 2500 4WD diesel owner who wants 6 inches of front and matched rear lift with FOX 2.0 damping — diesel-tuned springs front, replacement leaf springs and 4-inch axle blocks rear, geometry-correct radius arm brackets throughout. This is a complete front-to-rear system engineered for the diesel engine weight and towing demands of this specific platform generation. The tire clearance jumps to 37–40 inches at this lift height — a meaningful step up from the 35–37-inch range at lower lift heights on lighter-duty platforms.

The 6-inch lift height and 4-inch rear axle block combination require a driveline inspection after installation — this is not optional on a diesel platform at this lift height. Budget for that inspection and any driveshaft modification your installer identifies before committing to the build.

If your Ram 2500 is a 2014 or newer, this kit does not apply — the platform changed and the geometry requirements changed with it. Order 1660FS for the 2014+ platform with FOX 2.0 shocks.

If your Ram 2500 is gas, the diesel-tuned springs in this kit are the wrong rate for the lighter front end — a gas-specific kit is required.

Diesel, 4WD, 2009–2013, and you want 6 inches with FOX 2.0 damping — the 6673FS is the complete, platform-correct solution.

Common Questions

Why does it matter if my Ram 2500 is gas or diesel for a lift kit?
The diesel engine is significantly heavier than the gas engine on the Ram 2500 platform. Front coil springs are rated and tuned for a specific front axle weight — diesel-tuned springs installed under a gas engine result in excessive spring rate and harsh ride. Gas springs installed under a diesel engine result in sag, incorrect ride height, and compromised geometry. The correct springs for your engine are not interchangeable.

What is the driveline inspection for and can I skip it?
At 6 inches of lift, the driveshaft angles change significantly from factory. U-joints operating outside their designed angle range wear rapidly and can fail under towing load. The driveline inspection confirms whether your driveshaft angles are within acceptable limits or require modification. On a diesel towing platform at 6-inch lift, this inspection is not optional — skip it and you risk driveline failure under load.

What are the 4-inch axle blocks and do they affect axle stability?
The 4-inch axle blocks are spacers that sit between the rear leaf springs and the rear axle to add rear lift height without replacing the leaf springs entirely. This kit includes both replacement leaf springs and 4-inch axle blocks — both must be installed per BDS specifications with correct U-bolt torque and axle centering confirmed after installation.

Does this kit fit the 2008 Ram 2500?
No. The 2008 Ram 2500 requires a different kit — order 680FS or 681FS. Confirm which variant is correct for your 2008 configuration before ordering.

What tire size fits at 6-inch lift?
Typical fitment on the 2009–2013 Ram 2500 diesel at 6-inch lift runs 37–40-inch tires depending on wheel offset and backspacing. Confirm maximum tire diameter and wheel specs with your wheel and tire supplier before ordering.

What warranty does this kit carry?
BDS suspension components carry the BDS No-Fine-Print Warranty. FOX 2.0 shocks carry a FOX 1-year limited warranty.
