Critical Compatibility

Configuration Compatibility
1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ ✅ Correct application
2004–2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ (Unlimited) ✅ Correct application
Jeep Wrangler JK (2007–2018) ❌ Different platform — kit does not apply
Jeep Wrangler JL (2018 and newer) ❌ Different platform — kit does not apply
Jeep Wrangler JT Gladiator ❌ Not compatible
Jeep CJ — any year Not compatible
Jeep Cherokee XJ — any year ❌ Not compatible
Jeep Grand Cherokee — any year ❌ Not compatible

Platform confirmation is mandatory before ordering. The TJ and JK share the Wrangler nameplate but are entirely different suspension platforms — a TJ kit does not apply to a JK and vice versa. Confirm your Wrangler is a 1997–2006 TJ or 2004–2006 LJ before placing your order. Text (469) 407-7538 if you need help confirming your platform year.

Installation Notes

Skill Level: Intermediate. Coil spring spacer installation on the TJ/LJ platform requires proper spring compression technique, correct torque sequences, and safe lifting equipment. This is more involved than a simple bolt-on accessory — if you have not worked with coil spring suspension before, professional installation is strongly recommended.

Required Tools:

  • Floor jack and rated jack stands
  • Spring compressor
  • Torque wrench
  • Full socket and wrench set

Alignment: An alignment check is recommended after installation. At 0.75 inches of front lift via spacers, geometry correction is not typically required — but confirming alignment after any suspension change is best practice and prevents accelerated tire wear.

Factory Shock Condition: NX2 Nitro shocks are included in this kit and replace the factory shock assembly. At 0.75 inches of spacer lift, the NX2 Nitro shocks are correctly valved for this application. Do not run the spacers over factory shocks without the included NX2 Nitros.

Torque Specs: Follow BDS-specified torque values included in the installation instructions. Do not substitute generic torque values on a Wrangler suspension application.

Tire Fitment: At 0.75 inches of front lift via coil spacers, tire fitment is minimally affected. Confirm any planned tire size changes with your wheel and tire supplier before ordering.

The Obsidian Take

SKU 415H is the correct kit for the 1997–2006 TJ or LJ owner who wants the mildest available BDS front lift — 0.75 inches via bolt-on coil spring spacers — paired with a shock upgrade over the factory units. This is not a leveling kit in the full sense, and it is not a geometry correction system. At 0.75 inches, you are adding a modest front lift and replacing factory shocks with NX2 Nitro units. That is the complete scope of this kit.

The NX2 Nitro is an entry-level shock — a functional improvement over worn factory units and appropriate for daily driving and mild trail use on a TJ/LJ that is not being pushed hard off-road. It is not a performance shock. If you trail ride with regularity, run larger tires, or want a more capable suspension upgrade on your TJ/LJ, SKU 416FS is the correct choice — full replacement front and rear coil springs, 1.75 inches of lift, and FOX 2.0 Performance Series shocks.

The coil spacer approach in 415H preserves the factory coil springs — the lift is achieved by spacing the existing spring up, not replacing it. At 0.75 inches this is an acceptable approach. The trade-off versus a full spring replacement is spring rate — the factory spring rate is maintained, not optimized for the lifted height. For 0.75 inches of lift on a TJ/LJ used primarily on road with light trail exposure, this trade-off is acceptable. For anything more demanding, the full spring replacement in 416FS is the better investment.

This kit is for you if: You own a 1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ or 2004–2006 LJ, you want the mildest available front lift with a shock upgrade at the entry price point, and your use case is primarily on-road or light trail — not sustained off-road use or aggressive wheeling.

This kit is not for you if: You want more than 0.75 inches of front lift — order SKU 416FS for 1.75 inches with full coil spring replacement and FOX 2.0 shocks. You trail ride aggressively or want a more complete suspension upgrade. You have a JK, JL, or any non-TJ/LJ Wrangler platform. The kit is non-returnable once installed.

Common Questions

What is the difference between SKU 415H and SKU 416FS?
SKU 415H delivers 0.75 inches of front lift via bolt-on coil spring spacers with NX2 Nitro shocks — the factory coil springs remain in place. SKU 416FS delivers 1.75 inches of lift via full front and rear coil spring replacement with FOX 2.0 Performance Series shocks. If you want more lift, a complete front-to-rear system, or FOX-tier damping, order 416FS. Text (469) 407-7538 to confirm which lift height and system type is correct for your build.

Does this fit my 2007 Jeep Wrangler?
No. The 2007 Wrangler is the JK platform — a completely different suspension architecture from the TJ. SKU 415H does not apply. Text (469) 407-7538 and we will identify the correct BDS kit for your JK model year.

Does this fit the Wrangler LJ Unlimited?
Yes — the 2004–2006 Wrangler LJ (Unlimited) is confirmed for this kit. Confirm your LJ is a 2004–2006 model year before ordering.

Will this affect my tire fitment?
At 0.75 inches of front lift, tire clearance change is minimal. Confirm any planned tire size changes with your wheel and tire supplier based on your specific TJ/LJ configuration before ordering tires.

Do I need an alignment after installing this kit?
An alignment check is recommended after any suspension modification. At 0.75 inches of spacer lift, geometry deviation is minimal — but confirming alignment prevents accelerated tire wear and maintains steering precision.

What warranty covers this kit?
BDS suspension components including the NX2 Nitro shocks are covered by the BDS No-Fine-Print Warranty. The NX2 Nitro does not carry a separate FOX warranty.
