Fitment, Shipping & Product Support
The Baja Designs LP9 Pro (SKU 320013) is a pair of extreme-output round LED light pods in the Driving/Combo optic pattern with amber lens. This is the same 8" round LP9 Pro body as the clear-lens version (SKU 320003) β not the rectangular LP4 Pro/LP6 Pro family, and not a separate 9" rectangular product. Each pod combines 9 forward-projecting LEDs (11,025 lumens, 105W/7.6A) with 6 Integrated Peripheral Technology (IPT) LEDs (2,280 lumens, 21W/1.52A) for a combined ~13,305 lumens per light and a 200Β° usable spread. The amber lens filters blue light wavelengths that scatter in dust, fog, sand, and rain β reducing glare and improving contrast in low-visibility conditions, at some reduction in raw output versus clear lens in clear conditions. Direct Ducted Cooling prevents thermal throttling on long, hot runs. Built-in amber daytime running/backlight function, with low and high power modes. uService lens swapping lets you change pattern or color later without voiding the warranty.

Critical Compatibility
| Configuration | Status |
|---|---|
| LP4 Pro / LP6 Pro rectangular mounts | Does NOT fit β LP9 is round, entirely different mounting geometry, no adapter exists |
| S2 Sport / Squadron Sport / XL Sport round-pod mounts | Does NOT fit without confirmation β LP9's 8" diameter substantially exceeds these smaller round pods |
| Wiring harness 640172 | Correct harness for this pair β required, not included |
| Upfitter Lock-Out Harness (sPOD / Switch-Pros / factory upfitter) | Available as an alternative to 640172 for switch-panel integration |
| Clear lens, Driving/Combo | Available under SKU 320003 β same body, same output, clear lens |
| Amber lens, Spot only | Available under SKU 320011 β narrower beam, longer throw, less peripheral spread |
| Racer Edition | Distinct configuration β same power draw, tighter beam, less side spread than standard |
Installation Notes
This is a moderate-skill install β a dedicated 12V wiring run, a compatible harness, and a mount rated for an 8" pod under vibration load. Mounting hardware (stainless bolts/fasteners) ships with the light; the bracket itself is a separate confirmation β do not assume a bracket you already own will fit.
Wiring harness PN 640172 includes plug-and-play Deutsch connectors, a built-in splitter for two LP9 or LP6 lights, large ring terminals, a 3-position 30A DC-rated DPDT switch for independent high/low beam control, a spliced extra lead for the amber DRL function, a 20A/40A relay, a 30A inline fuse, 12 ft of wire from battery to instrument cluster, and 15 ft from instrument cluster to the light.
If you're running sPOD, Switch-Pros, or a factory Upfitter switch panel, use the Upfitter Lock-Out Harness variant instead of 640172 β it's built to integrate with those systems.
Common Questions
Is there a clear lens version?
Yes β SKU 320003 is the same round LP9 Pro body with a clear lens, delivering the same 11,025 forward lumens plus 2,280 IPT lumens.
Will amber cost me output in clear conditions?
Yes, somewhat β amber lens reduces raw output compared to clear when there's no dust or fog to cut through. If you mostly run in clear conditions, the clear-lens version (320003) gets you more total light.
Will this overheat and dim under sustained high-speed use?
No β Direct Ducted Cooling actively channels airflow front-to-rear through the housing to prevent thermal throttling on long desert runs.
Am I locked into this exact beam pattern forever?
No β uService lens swapping lets you change pattern or color later without voiding the warranty.
How is LP9 Pro different from LP4 Pro or LP6 Pro?
LP9 Pro is round and 8" in diameter; LP4 Pro and LP6 Pro are a separate rectangular product line with their own independent mounting hardware.
The Obsidian Take
The LP9 Pro Amber is for the builder running dust, fog, or low-visibility conditions who wants the same maximum round-pod output as the clear version β ~13,300 combined lumens per light β with the amber lens's glare reduction and improved contrast layered on top.
It is not the right pick if you mostly drive in clear conditions and want maximum raw output β the clear-lens version (320003) gives you more total light with no downside in that use case. It's also not the right pick if you're trying to match an existing LP4/LP6 rectangular setup β the mounting systems are entirely incompatible.
Between standard and Racer Edition, choose standard for genuine all-around trail and desert use where you want both distance and peripheral light. Choose Racer Edition instead if you're strictly running high speed and want every lumen thrown further down the trail rather than spread to the sides.
