Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Apex Chassis KIT385-STL is the complete ProLock DOM steel steering master kit for the 2014–2026 Ram 2500 and 2013–2026 Ram 3500 4WD — 2" DOM tie rod and 1.75" DOM drag link in matte black powdercoat, both in one session with one alignment fee. SAE 1045 CNC-machined forged steel housings, SAE 4140 hot-forged induction heat-treated chromoly ball studs, ProLock™ machined keyway washers, jam nuts with 3 wrench-flat set screws, Flopper Stoppers (27° left/right, 2° front/back). Gas, 5.7L HEMI, 6.4L HEMI, and 6.7L Cummins diesel. 2–6" lift range. Full front-end alignment required post-install.

For rock crawling builds with direct steering bar contact. For daily drivers, highway tow rigs, and trail builds without regular rock contact, the KIT385-POL or KIT385-BLK aluminum kits deliver better ride dynamics at reduced weight. 2013 Ram 2500 does NOT fit.

Critical Compatibility

Configuration Notes
2013 Ram 2500 Does not fit — radius-arm update came in 2014 on the 2500
2013 Ram 3500 Confirm radius-arm platform before ordering — text VIN to (469) 407-7538
BDS Adjustable Trackbar Not compatible
Rough Country Dual Stabilizer Not compatible
Carli High Mount Stabilizer Must use 2019+ Carli high mount regardless of truck year
Performance shocks Strongly recommended alongside this kit — factory shocks are not optimally valved for 63.4 lbs of front axle assembly
Minimum engagement mark visible Indicates unsafe thread engagement — redistribute sleeve or may require flip kit
Lifts exceeding 4" Verify drag link angle relative to track bar; relocation bracket or dropped pitman arm may be required
Daily drivers / highway tow rigs Consider KIT385-POL or KIT385-BLK instead — DOM steel is overkill for applications without direct rock contact

Common Questions

Why choose DOM steel over the aluminum kit?
For rock crawling builds where the tie rod will make direct contact with boulders and rock faces — DOM steel takes the hit, stays straight, and has zero flex memory. Aluminum's flex memory is an asset for highway, towing, and trail use where impacts are indirect. For anything other than regular hard rock contact, the aluminum KIT385-POL or KIT385-BLK delivers better ride dynamics at lower unsprung weight.

Does this fit a Ram 3500 Dually?
Yes. F-350 SRW and DRW share the same front axle geometry on this platform. Both are confirmed.

Will this fix death wobble?
It eliminates the factory compliance that allows the front-end tracking to oscillate. Pair with healthy ball joints, a solid track bar, and a proper alignment for a complete fix. At 63.4 lbs, plan for a performance steering stabilizer upgrade alongside this kit.

Does camber get adjusted during alignment?
No. The solid front axle has fixed camber — not adjustable without aftermarket offset ball joints. Inform your alignment tech before the appointment. Post-install alignment corrects toe and centers the steering wheel only.

The Obsidian Take

The KIT385-STL is for one specific Ram HD owner — the one whose truck goes where the linkage will take direct hits. Rock crawlers. Commercial haulers pulling heavy loads over rough terrain. Builds where the tie rod contacts hard surfaces regularly enough that aluminum's flex memory becomes a structural concern rather than an asset. At 63.4 lbs, this is the heaviest assembly in the Apex Ram HD lineup — plan for performance-valved shocks and an upgraded stabilizer alongside it.

For daily drivers, tow rigs, and trail trucks that don't regularly put the linkage in contact with rocks — KIT385-POL or KIT385-BLK is the correct call. Same ProLock geometry, better ride dynamics, lower unsprung weight.
