Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Apex Chassis ProLock Drag Link (KIT371-POL) is a direct-replacement extreme-duty drag link for the 2005–2016 Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty 4WD (excludes wide track). 2" polished 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum adjusting rod with raw mirror polish finish, SAE 1045 CNC-machined forged steel housings, SAE 4140 hot-forged induction heat-treated chromoly ball studs, ProLockβ„’ machined keyway washers, jam nuts with 3 wrench-flat set screws, reversible stainless steel taper sleeve for drag link flip applications. 2–6" lift range. Full front-end alignment required post-install.

Mechanically identical to KIT371-BLK β€” same 2" 7075-T6 rod, same ProLock system, same 22 lbs. The only difference is finish. Drag link only β€” tie rod sold separately as KIT372-POL. Complete master kit KIT374-POL bundles both for one installation and one alignment fee.

No polished aluminum version exists for the 2017+ P558/P702 platform. If your truck is 2017 or newer, KIT373-BLK is the correct and only drag link available from Apex.

Drag Link Only vs. Complete Master Kit

SKU Contents Best For
KIT371-POL (this listing) Drag link only Tie rod already upgraded or confirmed in good condition
KIT372-POL Tie rod only Drag link already upgraded or confirmed in good condition
KIT374-POL Drag link + tie rod bundled Both components need replacement β€” one install, one alignment

2005–2016 P221 vs. 2017+ P558/P702 β€” Why No Polished Option for the Newer Trucks

Ford completely redesigned the Super Duty steering geometry between 2016 and 2017. The P558/P702 platform has significantly tighter clearance tolerances that required Apex to engineer a slim-profile solid chromoly steel construction β€” making a polished aluminum version geometrically incompatible for that generation. KIT373-BLK in black powdercoat chromoly steel is the only drag link Apex makes for the 2017+ platform. If your truck is 2017 or newer, stop here and see KIT373-BLK.

Critical Compatibility

2005–2007 model years Fits, but requires lower steering stabilizer mount or dual stabilizer kit
BDS Adjustable Trackbar Not compatible β€” adjuster sleeve contacts drag link during steering cycling
Fox ATS / Fox TS stabilizers Not compatible β€” use OE-style Fox (985-24-001) or Carli instead
Dual steering stabilizer kits May require modification to tie rod end brackets due to 1/8" larger OE diameter
2017+ Super Duty Does not fit β€” completely different steering geometry; no polished Apex option exists for this platform
Lifts exceeding 4" Track bar relocation bracket strongly recommended; verify pitman arm drop compatibility

Common Questions

What's the difference between KIT371-POL and KIT371-BLK?
Finish only. Same 2" 7075-T6 aluminum rod, same ProLock system, same high-misalignment joints, same reversible taper sleeve, same 22 lbs. POL is raw mirror-polished aluminum β€” show-quality finish that develops a natural patina and restores with standard aluminum polish. BLK is black anodized β€” zero maintenance, better corrosion protection for year-round road-salt environments.

Does a polished version exist for the 2017–2026 Super Duty?
No. The tighter clearance tolerances on the P558/P702 platform required a slim-profile solid chromoly steel construction. The wall thickness required for an equivalent aluminum bar is geometrically incompatible on this platform. KIT373-BLK in black powdercoat chromoly is the only option for 2017+ trucks.

My truck is a 2006 β€” is there anything extra I need?
Yes. 2005–2007 trucks require either a lower steering stabilizer mount or a dual stabilizer kit β€” stabilizer mounting position differs from the 2008+ trucks this drag link was primarily engineered around.

Can I flip this drag link on a high-clearance lift setup?
Yes. The straight-bored stabilizer hole and included reversible stainless steel taper sleeve allow you to flip the link geometry at the pitman arm without losing the stabilizer mounting point. No fabrication required.

The Obsidian Take

The KIT371-POL is for the P221 Super Duty owner who built the truck to a standard and wants every component to reflect it. Mechanically identical to the KIT371-BLK β€” same 2" 7075-T6 construction, same ProLock adjustment retention, same reversible taper sleeve for flip applications. The polished finish is raw buffed aluminum that retains its luster and restores with a pass of polish when needed.

If zero maintenance matters more than mirror finish, the KIT371-BLK is the call. For 2017+ Super Duty owners, no polished option from Apex exists β€” KIT373-BLK is the only path. If your tie rod is also OEM, the KIT374-POL complete master kit corrects both in one session with one alignment fee.
