Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Apex Chassis ProLock Drag Link (KIT371-BLK) is a direct-replacement extreme-duty drag link for the 2005–2016 Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty 4WD (excludes wide track). 2" solid 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum adjusting rod, oversized drag link ends, ProLockβ„’ machined keyway washers, proprietary jam nuts with 3 wrench-flat set screws for adjustment retention under vibration and load. Black powdercoat finish. Built specifically for 2–6" lifted applications to correct the bump steer and steering vagueness the OEM drag link introduces beyond stock ride height. Full front-end alignment required post-install.

Drag link only β€” tie rod sold separately as KIT372-BLK. The complete master kit (KIT374-BLK) bundles both for a single installation and alignment.

Critical Compatibility

Configuration Notes
Wide track Super Duty Not compatible β€” confirm your truck is not a wide track configuration before ordering
2005–2007 model years Fits, but requires a lower steering stabilizer mount or a dual stabilizer kit β€” budget for this additional component
BDS Adjustable Trackbar Not compatible β€” the BDS adjuster sleeve contacts the Apex drag link during steering cycling. Text (469) 407-7538 before ordering if you run this trackbar.
Through-shaft steering stabilizers (e.g., Fox ATS) Not recommended β€” stabilizer must mount in OE position at the taper hole on the pitman arm side drag link end. Use OE-style stabilizers (Fox 985-24-001, Carli) instead.
2017+ Super Duty (P558/P702) Does not fit β€” completely different steering geometry, order KIT373-BLK
Lifts exceeding 4" Track bar relocation bracket strongly recommended; verify pitman arm drop compatibility

Common Questions

Will this fix the bump steer on my lifted F-250 or F-350?
On 2–6" lifted applications, yes in most cases. The high-misalignment joints and corrected geometry address the primary cause of bump steer introduced when the OEM drag link operates beyond its designed range. A full alignment after installation is required to realize the full correction.

Do I need a dropped pitman arm with this?
Depends on lift height. For lifts under 4" with a stock pitman arm, this typically installs without one. For lifts 4" and above, verify OEM pitman arm drop compatibility or plan for an aftermarket dropped unit.

Do I have a wide track Super Duty?
Wide track Super Duty trucks have a wider front axle track than standard configurations. If you're unsure, check your build sheet or contact us with your VIN before ordering β€” this kit does not fit wide track trucks.

My truck is a 2006 β€” is there anything extra I need?
Yes. 2005–2007 model years fit this drag link but require either a lower steering stabilizer mount or a dual stabilizer kit, since the stabilizer mounting position differs slightly from the 2008+ trucks this kit was primarily designed around.

Do I need a track bar relocation bracket too?
For lifts under 4", not necessarily. For lifts 4" and above, a track bar relocation bracket is strongly recommended alongside this drag link to maintain proper front axle centering.

The Obsidian Take

The KIT371-BLK is the right call for the P221 Super Duty owner who has already addressed or verified the tie rod and needs the drag link corrected to finish the geometry fix β€” or who is phasing the steering overhaul one component at a time. The 2" solid 7075-T6 construction eliminates the flex and deflection that makes a lifted Super Duty wander and fight the wheel under load. The ProLock system locks adjustment settings against trail vibration and sustained towing loads.

If your tie rod is also OEM or showing wear, the KIT374-BLK complete master kit is the smarter purchase β€” both components corrected in one session with one alignment fee instead of two. Confirm three things before ordering this drag link alone: your truck is not wide track, you're not running a BDS adjustable trackbar, and if your truck is a 2005-2007, you've budgeted for the stabilizer mount modification.

Non-Returnable Notice: Steering components that have been installed are non-returnable. Confirm wide track status, trackbar compatibility, and model year before ordering.
