Description
The stealth build gets the same engineering as the show build.
Not every JK is built to be looked at. Some are built to work — to trail, to rock crawl light, to daily drive lifted without announcing themselves. The factory tie rod and drag link don't belong on a JK at lift height with real tires regardless of what the build looks like from the outside.
The Apex Chassis KIT150-BLK fixes that. Heavy-duty 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum, 1-ton Ninja Joints, integrated double-adjuster, hard anodized surface that doesn't chip, doesn't patina, and doesn't need maintenance. Both components. One kit. Built for the JK that earns its miles.

Why hard anodized over powdercoat: Powdercoat is a coating applied over the aluminum surface — it can chip or peel under trail impact, exposing bare metal underneath. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the outer layer of the aluminum itself into aluminum oxide. It penetrates into the surface rather than sitting on top. A chip in powdercoat exposes bare aluminum. A chip in anodized surface exposes hardened oxide. For a JK that sees trail use, mud, and real weather, anodizing provides more durable long-term protection without any maintenance schedule.
How KIT150-BLK compares across the JK no-flip aluminum lineup: Same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry and 1-ton Ninja Joints across all three variants. The KIT150-BLK is hard black anodized — zero maintenance, electrochemical surface protection, the trail and daily use choice. The KIT150-POL is the identical aluminum in polished mirror finish — same performance, show-quality aesthetic that requires occasional polish. The KIT130-NoFlip is solid high-strength steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum direct impact resistance for dedicated rock crawling where the bar takes hits. Same geometry, different materials and surfaces for different build priorities.

❌ This kit does NOT fit — read before ordering
| Vehicle / Configuration | Reason | Correct Unit |
|---|---|---|
| 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU | Different steering geometry | KIT125 series |
| Jeep Gladiator JT | JL platform — different geometry | KIT125 series |
| High-steer knuckle conversions | Incorrect drag link angle — unsafe steering geometry | Flip kit variant |
| Factory JK 16" wheels | Ninja Joint housings contact inner wheel barrel | — |
| Factory JK 17" wheels (~6.25" backspacing) | Inner barrel contacts joint housings — 4.75" max backspacing required | — |
| 2006 and earlier TJ / LJ | Different platform entirely | — |
2018 model year — critical: 2018 produced both JK and JL Wranglers. This kit fits 2018 JK and JKU only — NOT the 2018 JL or JLU. The JL uses completely different steering geometry. Confirm your 2018 is a JK/JKU body style before ordering.
⚠️ High-steer knuckle incompatibility: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will produce incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you are running Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, or any high-steer conversion — the flip kit variant is required, no exceptions.
⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the 1-ton Ninja Joint housings at full steering lock. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers. Text (469) 407-7538 with your wheel specs and we'll confirm clearance.
Supporting mod requirements:
- Lifts 2–3": Direct bolt-on beyond wheel backspacing requirement.
- Lifts exceeding 3": Adjustable control arms or caster correction kit recommended to restore factory caster angle.
Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked
Q: What's the difference between KIT150-BLK, KIT150-POL, and KIT130-NoFlip?
Same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry and 1-ton Ninja Joints across all three. The KIT150-BLK is hard black anodized 7075-T6 aluminum at 25.6 lbs — zero maintenance, electrochemical surface protection that penetrates into the aluminum rather than coating it, the trail and daily use choice. The KIT150-POL is the identical aluminum in polished mirror finish — same weight, same performance, show-quality aesthetic that occasional polish maintains. The KIT130-NoFlip is solid high-strength steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum direct impact resistance for dedicated rock crawling where the bar takes direct hits against boulders. Choose based on your use case and finish preference.
Q: What's the difference between black anodized and black powdercoat?
Powdercoat sits on top of the aluminum and can chip under trail impact, exposing bare metal. Anodizing converts the outer layer of the aluminum itself into aluminum oxide — it penetrates into the surface. A chip in powdercoat exposes bare aluminum. A chip in anodized surface exposes hardened oxide. For trail use and real-world conditions, anodizing provides more durable long-term surface protection without any upkeep.
Q: Will this clear my factory 17" JK wheels?
No. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the 1-ton Ninja Joint housings at full steering lock. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers. Text us your wheel specs and we'll confirm clearance.
Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?
Intermediate difficulty. Standard hand tools, a torque wrench, and a floor jack are required. A full front-end alignment immediately after is mandatory. Fully torque all jam nuts and lock nuts to Apex specifications to secure the hex double-adjuster sleeve after alignment is finalized. Budget one garage session and one same-day alignment appointment.
The Obsidian Take
The KIT150-BLK is for the JK and JKU owner whose truck earns its miles on the trail and doesn't need the undercarriage to announce itself. The 1.5" solid 7075-T6 construction at 25.6 lbs delivers 1-ton Ninja Joint strength at 23.8 lbs less than the steel version — faster suspension response on heavy tire packages, improved highway tracking compliance, and natural flex memory that absorbs trail vibration without permanent deformation. The hard anodized surface is not a coating — it is a conversion of the aluminum surface itself into aluminum oxide that cannot chip, peel, or require a maintenance schedule. The Ninja Joints handle extreme articulation angles without binding and rebuild when they wear rather than requiring full replacement. The integrated double-adjuster cuts alignment shop labor without disconnecting joints.
This kit is not for 2018 JL or JLU owners — the steering geometry changed completely with the JL platform redesign, see the KIT125 series. It is not for builders running high-steer knuckle conversions — the flip kit variant is required with no exceptions. It is not for dedicated rock crawlers who will take direct boulder impacts against the linkage — the KIT130-NoFlip in solid steel is the correct tool for that application. If the mirror finish matters more than zero maintenance, the mechanically identical KIT150-POL in polished aluminum is the right call. And factory JK 17" wheels will not clear the joint housings — verify your wheel backspacing is 4.75" or less before ordering.
