Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

Every component on this JK was chosen with intent. The steering should be no different.

You built this JK because you believed in the platform. The lift, the tires, the bumper, the lights — nothing chosen without a distinct reason. The factory tie rod and drag link are thin stamped steel engineered for stock tire sizes. At 2–6" of lift with real tires, that factory linkage flexes, deflects, and introduces the front-end wander and bump steer that makes a well-built Wrangler feel unfinished. It doesn't belong on a build that's come this far.

The Apex Chassis KIT140-NoFlip is the correction — and the choice you make when the build standard applies underneath as much as it does on top. Premium 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, proprietary 1-ton Ninja Joints, and the full ProLock double-adjuster system — engineered for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU at 2–6" of lift. At 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter than the steel version — mirror-finish aluminum that doesn't compromise performance for aesthetics.

Why polished aluminum over steel on a trail-capable JK: At 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter than the steel version — the unsprung weight savings are substantial and directly measurable. Less unsprung mass means suspension dampers respond faster to road inputs, improving highway tracking and steering compliance under the lateral load of 35" or 37" tire packages. 7075-T6 features natural flex memory — the bar absorbs harsh trail vibration and springs back to its original profile without bending permanently.

The double-adjuster detail most listings miss: On a factory JK, adjusting toe or centering the steering wheel requires physically disconnecting the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. The Apex integrated Heavy-Duty Double-Adjuster Sleeve lets your alignment tech make micro-adjustments directly on the vehicle link while it sits on the alignment rack — without ever disconnecting a joint. Alignment labor time cut in half.

KIT140-NoFlip vs KIT130-NoFlip — which one: Same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry and 1-ton Ninja Joints. The KIT140 is 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum at 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter, polished mirror finish, natural flex memory, the right call for highway, trail, and show builds. The KIT130 is solid high-strength steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum localized impact resistance for dedicated rock crawling where the linkage takes direct hits against boulders. If your JK goes rock crawling and the linkage contacts rocks — KIT130. If it doesn't — KIT140-NoFlip.

KIT140-NoFlip vs KIT150-NoFlip: Identical 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum construction, identical weight, identical Ninja Joints and double-adjuster system. The only difference is finish — KIT140 is raw polished mirror aluminum, KIT150 is black powdercoat. Same performance. Choose based on your build aesthetic.

❌ This kit does NOT fit — read before ordering
Vehicle / Configuration Reason Correct Unit
2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU / Gladiator JT Completely different front-axle geometry KIT125 series
High-steer knuckle conversions Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, all high-steer — incorrect drag link angle Flip kit variant
Factory JK 16" wheels 1-ton Ninja Joint housings contact inner wheel barrel
Factory JK 17" wheels (~6.25" backspacing) Inner barrel contacts joint housings — 4.75" max backspacing required
1997–2006 TJ / LJ Different platform entirely
YJ, CJ Wranglers Different platforms entirely

2018 model year — critical: 2018 produced both JK and JL Wranglers. This kit fits 2018 JK and JKU only — NOT the 2018 JL or JLU. The JL uses completely different steering geometry. Confirm your 2018 is a JK/JKU body style before ordering.

⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the 1-ton Ninja Joint housings at full steering lock. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers. Text (469) 407-7538 with your wheel brand, model, and backspacing and we'll confirm clearance before you order.

⚠️ High-steer knuckle incompatibility: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will produce incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you are running Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, or any high-steer conversion — the flip kit variant is required, no exceptions.

Supporting mod requirements:

  • Lifts 2–3": Direct bolt-on beyond wheel backspacing requirement.
  • Lifts exceeding 3": Adjustable control arms or caster correction kit recommended to restore factory caster angle.

Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked

Q: What's the difference between KIT140-NoFlip, KIT130-NoFlip, and KIT150-NoFlip?

All three share the same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry and 1-ton Ninja Joints. The KIT140 is 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum in polished mirror finish at 25.6 lbs — the show-quality choice with 23.8 lbs of unsprung weight savings over steel. The KIT150 is the identical aluminum bar in black powdercoat — same weight, same performance, zero-maintenance finish for working JKs that see road salt and weather. The KIT130 is solid high-strength steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum localized impact resistance for dedicated rock crawling where the linkage takes direct hits against boulders. Same geometry, same joints, different materials and finishes for different applications.

Q: Will this clear my factory 17" JK wheels?

No. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the 1-ton Ninja Joint housings at full steering lock. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers. Text us your wheel setup and we'll confirm clearance before you order.

Q: Does the polished finish require maintenance?

Raw 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum — not chrome plating, not a coating. It will not rust, chip, or peel. Over time it develops a natural aluminum patina. A quick pass with standard aluminum polish restores the mirror shine instantly. For a working JK that sees road salt and weather year-round, the KIT150-NoFlip in black powdercoat is the zero-maintenance call.

Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?

Intermediate difficulty. Standard hand tools, a torque wrench, and a floor jack are required. Replacing both steering components simultaneously — professional alignment immediately after is mandatory. Failure to center the steering wheel will trip the JK's ESC traction warning light. On lifts exceeding 3", have caster correction planned before the alignment appointment. Budget one garage session and one same-day alignment appointment.

The Obsidian Take

The KIT140-NoFlip is for the JK and JKU owner who built the truck to a standard and wants every component underneath to reflect it. The 1.5" solid 7075-T6 construction delivers 1-ton strength at 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter than the steel version, with faster suspension response, improved pavement tracking on heavy tire packages, and the natural flex memory that absorbs trail vibration without permanent deformation. The 1-ton Ninja Joints handle extreme articulation angles at full droop without binding, and they're rebuildable when they wear. The integrated double-adjuster sleeve makes alignment precise without disconnecting joints. The raw mirror-polished finish is not chrome that flakes or paint that chips — it restores instantly with a pass of aluminum polish and reflects the standard of the build every time someone gets underneath.

This kit is not for 2018 JL or JLU owners — the steering geometry changed completely with the JL platform redesign, see the KIT125 series. It is not for builders running high-steer knuckle conversions — the flip kit variant is required with no exceptions. It is not for dedicated rock crawlers who will take direct boulder impacts against the linkage — the KIT130-NoFlip in solid steel is the correct tool for that application. If zero maintenance matters more than mirror finish, the mechanically identical KIT150-NoFlip in black powdercoat is the right call. And factory JK 17" wheels will not clear the joint housings — verify your wheel backspacing is 4.75" or less before ordering.
