Description
Some builds don't compromise. Neither does this kit.
There are two versions of the Apex JK steering kit. One is built from aluminum — lighter, better for street-biased builds, the right choice when reduced unsprung weight matters. The KIT130-NoFlip is the other one. Maximum-duty solid steel construction. 49.4 lbs. Built for the JK owner whose front axle is going to hit rocks, boulders, stumps, and debris — and needs a steering kit that comes out the other side of that impact straight.
The Apex Chassis KIT130-NoFlip is the complete heavy-duty fix. A 1.5" solid high-strength steel tie rod and drag link assembly with proprietary 1-ton Ninja Joints and an integrated double-adjuster system — engineered for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU at 2–6" of lift with OEM or mild aftermarket knuckles. Two components. One kit. No compromises.

Why solid steel instead of aluminum on a rock crawler: Solid high-strength steel is the right material when the tie rod and drag link are going to take direct, violent hits — sliding over boulders, catching stumps, and dragging through rock gardens at full articulation. A sharp crushing strike against a rock shelf can gouge an aluminum bar body. The 1.5" solid steel bar has no hollow center — it physically cannot dent, crimp, or buckle under a direct hit. Ensures your front-end tracking stays straight so you drive home off the trail.
KIT130-NoFlip vs KIT150-NoFlip — which one: Same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry, same Ninja Joints, same double-adjuster system. The KIT130 is 1.5" solid steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum impact resistance for rock crawling and trail use where the linkage takes direct hits. The KIT150 is solid aluminum at 25.6 lbs — reduced unsprung weight for street-biased and daily-driven lifted JKs where ride quality matters more than boulder resistance. If your JK goes rock crawling and takes direct hits on the linkage — KIT130. If your JK is primarily street and light trail — KIT150.
The double-adjuster advantage: On a factory JK, setting toe or centering the steering wheel requires physically unbolting the tie rod from the steering knuckle. The Apex double-adjuster sleeve allows your alignment tech to make micro-adjustments directly on the vehicle link without ever disconnecting a joint. Alignment shop labor time cut in half. Clean, precise, repeatable.

| 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU / Gladiator JT | Completely different steering geometry | KIT115-Dana44-NoFlip |

| Factory JK 17" wheels (~6.25" backspacing) | Inner barrel contacts joint housings — 4.75" max backspacing required | — |
| 1997–2006 TJ / LJ | Different platform entirely | — |
| YJ, CJ Wranglers | Different platforms entirely | — |
2018 model year — critical: 2018 produced both JK and JL Wranglers. The KIT130-NoFlip fits 2018 JK and JKU only — NOT the 2018 JL or JLU. Confirm your 2018 is a JK/JKU body style before ordering.
⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: The oversized 1-ton Ninja Joint housings require a minimum 17" wheel with 4.75" or less backspacing. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the joint housings. Aftermarket wheels or quality wheel spacers are required. Text (469) 407-7538 with your wheel brand, model, and backspacing and we'll confirm clearance before you order.
⚠️ High-steer knuckle incompatibility: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will produce incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you are running Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, or any high-steer conversion — the flip kit variant is required, no exceptions.
Supporting mod requirements:
- Lifts 2–3": Direct bolt-on beyond wheel backspacing requirement.
- Lifts exceeding 3": Adjustable control arms or caster correction kit recommended to restore factory caster angle.
Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked
Q: What's the difference between KIT130-NoFlip and KIT150-NoFlip?
Same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry, same 1-ton Ninja Joints, same integrated double-adjuster system. The KIT130-NoFlip is 1.5" solid steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum impact resistance for rock crawling and serious trail use where the linkage takes direct hits against boulders and stumps. The KIT150-NoFlip is solid aluminum at 25.6 lbs — reduced unsprung weight for street-biased and daily-driven lifted JKs where ride dynamics matter more than boulder resistance. If your JK goes rock crawling and the linkage takes hits — KIT130. If it's primarily street and light trail — KIT150.
Q: Will this work with my factory JK 17" wheels?
No — not without quality wheel spacers. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing, pulling the inner barrel too close to the axle. The 1-ton Ninja Joint housings will contact the inner wheel lip. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing. Text (469) 407-7538 with your wheel specs and we'll confirm clearance before you order.
Q: What are the Ninja Joints and why do they matter?
Apex's proprietary 1-ton rod end system — deep internal metal-to-metal bearing channels, extreme articulation without binding at full droop, serviceable and rebuildable design. When the wear components need replacement, you rebuild them — you don't replace the entire assembly. For a Jeep that gets used hard on the trail, rebuildable joints are the only specification that makes sense long-term.
Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?
Intermediate difficulty. Standard hand tools, a torque wrench, and a floor jack are required. Replacing both steering components simultaneously — professional alignment immediately after is mandatory. Failure to center the steering wheel will trip the JK's electronic stability control dash warning light. On lifts exceeding 3", have caster correction planned before the alignment appointment. Budget one garage session and one same-day alignment appointment.
The Obsidian Take
The KIT130-NoFlip is the right kit for the JK and JKU owner building a genuine trail rig or rock crawler — someone whose steering linkage is going to take direct hits against boulders and rock faces and needs to stay straight when it does. The 1.5" solid high-strength steel bars have no hollow center and physically cannot dent, crimp, or buckle on impact — when the bar slides over a rock shelf under full axle droop it stays on tracking and you drive home. The 1-ton Ninja Joints handle the extreme articulation angles a heavily lifted JK produces at full compression without binding, and they're rebuildable when they wear. The integrated double-adjuster sleeve makes alignment precise and repeatable without disconnecting joints. At 49.4 lbs it is a seriously heavy-duty assembly — and a JK that earns its miles on real terrain requires exactly that.
This kit is not for JK owners who primarily street drive or light trail — the KIT150-NoFlip aluminum version delivers better ride dynamics at 23.8 lbs less weight and is the right call for that application. It is not for 2018 JL or JLU owners — the steering geometry changed completely with the JL platform redesign, see KIT115-Dana44-NoFlip. It is not for builders running high-steer knuckle conversions — the flip kit variant is required with no exceptions. And it will not clear factory JK 17" wheels — verify your wheel backspacing is 4.75" or less before ordering, or text us your wheel specs and we'll confirm before we ship.
