Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

You flipped your Dana 30 knuckles. Now finish the build.

A high-steer knuckle conversion on a Dana 30 Sport or Sport S JL, JLU, or Gladiator JT completely changes the geometry of the front steering track. Moving the drag link mounting point above the knuckle eliminates the bump steer that standard geometry introduces at aggressive lift heights — but only if the steering linkage is built to work with that flipped geometry from the ground up.

The Apex Chassis KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip is the polished aluminum complete solution for standard-track Dana 30 builds running high-steer knuckle conversions at 3.5–6"+ of lift. Uniform 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum on both tie rod and drag link — engineered for the tight clearance envelope of the narrow Dana 30 axle — over-knuckle flip geometry, Internal Flopper Stoppers, integrated double-adjuster, and a mirror finish. 32.8 lbs. The Dana 30 flip kit for the builder who went all the way.

Why 1.5" on both bars — the clearance engineering behind it: Unlike the Dana 44 flip kit which uses a 2.0" tie rod paired with a 1.75" drag link, the Dana 30 version uses a uniform 1.5" diameter solid 7075-T6 rod on both components. The operational clearance envelope around the steering stabilizer brackets and lower frame rails on the narrow standard-track M186 axle is significantly tighter than on wide-track Dana 44 axles. A 1.75" or 2.0" bar would physically bind against those chassis mounts during hard suspension compression. The solid 1.5" cross-section delivers elite structural yield strength while clearing the narrow axle architecture exactly as the flip geometry requires.

Why polished aluminum on a high-lift trail build: At 32.8 lbs combined — significantly lighter than steel equivalents — the unsprung weight savings are directly measurable. Less front axle mass means suspension dampers respond faster, improving highway tracking and ride quality on 35" or 37" tires. The lighter rotational load also protects the factory EHPS steering motor from heat fatigue that heavy steel linkage causes over time. 7075-T6 features native flex memory — absorbs harsh trail impacts and springs back to the original profile.

3.5" minimum lift — non-negotiable: Below 3.5" of suspension lift, the flipped drag link will contact the passenger-side frame rail during suspension compression. This is a hard physical clearance limit. Do not order this kit for any build running less than 3.5" of lift.

⚠️ High-steer conversion required — no exceptions: Installing on OEM or standard knuckles without a high-steer conversion will result in incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you have standard knuckles — order KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip.

⚠️ Taper sleeve and knuckle drilling: This kit includes a custom tapered flip sleeve. If your aftermarket high-steer knuckle is not pre-machined for an over-knuckle taper, you must drill the drag link mount to a straight 7/8" diameter before installation. Verify with your knuckle manufacturer before ordering — text us your knuckle brand and we'll confirm.

⚠️ 2024–2026 Willys and Gladiator Max-Tow lockout: Both run the wide-track Dana 44 from the factory. This kit will not fit. See KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip.

⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: Factory Sport 17" wheels run approximately 6.0" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the joint housings at full steering lock. Aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers required.

Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked

Q: Why does the Dana 30 flip kit use 1.5" on both bars instead of the 2"x1.75" split on the Dana 44 kit?

The narrow standard-track M186 axle has significantly tighter clearances near the lower frame rails and sway bar brackets than wide-track Dana 44 axles. A 1.75" or 2.0" drag link would bind against those chassis mounts during suspension compression. The uniform 1.5" solid 7075-T6 profile delivers elite structural yield strength while clearing the narrow axle architecture exactly as required. Same alloy, different diameter — both correct for their respective platforms.

Q: What's the difference between KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip and KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip?

Same polished 7075-T6 aluminum, same ProLock system, same Flopper Stoppers, same 3.5" minimum lift. The Dana 30 version uses uniform 1.5" bars on both components — fit for the narrow M186 clearance envelope. The Dana 44 version uses a 2.0" tie rod and 1.75" drag link — correct for the wider M210 geometry. Confirm your axle before ordering — text us your VIN and we'll verify in minutes.

Q: What's the difference between KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip and KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip?

Identical 1.5" 7075-T6 flip geometry, identical weight. The KIT125 is raw polished mirror aluminum — show-quality finish, occasional polish required to maintain over time. The KIT120 is black powdercoat — same performance, zero-maintenance finish for builds that see road salt and weather year-round. Same kit, different surface.

Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?

Advanced difficulty — not a standard intermediate install. High-steer flip geometry requires understanding of how the drag link interfaces with the top-mounted knuckle position. Professional installation and alignment are not optional. Verify your lift height is a true 3.5" or more. Review your knuckle manufacturer's data sheet for required machining. Full front-end alignment immediately after is mandatory — failure to center the steering wheel will trip the JL/JT's ESC traction warning light.

The Obsidian Take

The KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip is for the JL Sport and Gladiator JT owner who went all the way with a high-steer conversion on their Dana 30 and wants the steering linkage to complete the build at the same standard. The uniform 1.5" solid 7075-T6 construction is the correct engineering decision for the narrow M186 clearance envelope — larger diameters bind against the chassis mounts on this axle, and Apex engineered exactly to what the platform allows. At 32.8 lbs it is significantly lighter than steel equivalents — faster suspension response, improved highway tracking on heavy tire packages, and meaningful EHPS motor protection over time. The Internal Flopper Stoppers eliminate the steering dead zone that comes standard with generic aftermarket linkage on lifted Jeeps. The ProLock system locks alignment against trail vibration and highway loads. The mirror-polished finish reflects the standard of the rest of the build.

This kit is not for builds under 3.5" of lift — frame contact under compression is a hard physical limitation with no exceptions. It is not for standard knuckle builds — if you haven't done a high-steer conversion, order KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip. It is not for Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, Mojave, 2024+ Willys, or Max-Tow Gladiator owners — those trims run the Dana 44, see KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip. It is not for dedicated rock crawlers who will drag the linkage over boulder faces — the KIT115-Dana30-YesFlip in DOM steel is the correct tool for that application. If zero maintenance matters more than mirror finish, the mechanically identical KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip in black powdercoat is the right call.
