Description
You flipped your Dana 44 knuckles. The steering kit has to match the geometry.
A high-steer knuckle conversion on a Dana 44 JL, JLU, or Gladiator JT changes the geometry of the entire front steering track. Moving the drag link mounting point above the knuckle eliminates the bump steer that standard geometry introduces at aggressive lift heights — but only if the steering linkage is built to work with that flipped geometry from the ground up.
The Apex Chassis KIT120-Dana44-YesFlip is the complete black anodized aluminum solution for wide-track Dana 44 builds running high-steer knuckle conversions at 3.5–6"+ of lift. 2.5-ton solid 7075-T6 aluminum — 2.0" tie rod, 1.75" drag link — over-knuckle flip geometry, Internal Flopper Stoppers, integrated double-adjuster, and a hard anodized finish that requires zero maintenance. The stealth version of the Dana 44 high-steer flip kit.

Why 3.5" minimum lift — no exceptions: When the drag link is flipped above the knuckle, it sits higher on the axle. At less than 3.5" of lift the drag link doesn't have enough vertical clearance and contacts the underside of the frame rail when the suspension compresses. This is a hard physical limitation — not a conservative buffer. Do not order this kit for any build running less than 3.5" of lift.
Why hard anodized over polished for a trail-committed high-steer build: Hard anodizing converts the outer layer of the aluminum itself into aluminum oxide — not a coating on top, but a conversion of the surface material. It cannot chip, peel, or flake under trail contact. For a Jeep running a high-steer conversion at aggressive lift heights in demanding trail environments, the anodized surface provides maintenance-free longevity that polished aluminum cannot match without upkeep.
The Internal Flopper Stoppers advantage: Standard aftermarket steering on lifted Jeeps suffers from tie-rod roll — the bars rotate forward and backward on their ball studs before the tires respond to input, creating a vague dead spot. The Internal Flopper Stoppers are built inside the forged joint housings — not external rubber stops. They physically block forward and aft deflection to 2 degrees while leaving a full 27 degrees of lateral stud swing for suspension articulation. Immediate response. No dead zone.

❌ This kit does NOT fit — read before ordering
| Vehicle / Configuration | Reason | Correct Unit |
|---|---|---|
| OEM or standard knuckles without high-steer conversion | Incorrect drag link angle — unsafe steering geometry | KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip |
| Any build under 3.5" of suspension lift | Frame rail contact under compression — hard physical limitation | KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip |
| Dana 30 Sport / Sport S trims | Different axle geometry | KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip |
| Factory stock wheels / Factory Rubicon 17" wheels | ~6.0" backspacing contacts joint housings | — |
| 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK / JKU | Different steering geometry | KIT130 / KIT150 series |
3.5" minimum lift — non-negotiable: Below 3.5" of lift, the flipped drag link contacts the underside of the frame rail during suspension compression. This is a hard physical clearance limit. Do not order this kit for any build running less than 3.5" of lift.
⚠️ High-steer conversion required — no exceptions: Installing this flip kit on OEM or standard knuckles without a high-steer conversion will produce incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you have standard knuckles — order KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip.
⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: Factory Rubicon and Sahara wheels run approximately 6.0" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the joint housings at full steering lock. Aftermarket wheels at 4.5" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers required.
⚠️ Knuckle compatibility verification: Confirm your high-steer knuckle brand and model is compatible with this kit's flip taper geometry before ordering. Text (469) 407-7538 with your knuckle brand and we'll confirm before we ship.
Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked
Q: What's the difference between KIT120-Dana44-YesFlip and KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip?
Mechanically and dimensionally identical — same 2.0" x 1.75" solid 7075-T6 bars, same Flopper Stoppers and double-adjuster, same 3.5" minimum lift and high-steer requirements, same 44.0 lbs. The KIT120 is hard black anodized — zero maintenance, corrosion protection fused into the surface that cannot chip or peel. The KIT125 is raw polished mirror aluminum — show-quality finish, occasional polish required. Same performance. Choose based on build aesthetic.
Q: What's the difference between KIT120-Dana44-YesFlip and KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip?
Same black anodized 7075-T6 construction, same Dana 44 platform, same weight. The NoFlip mounts under the knuckle for standard geometry without a high-steer conversion — for OEM knuckles at any lift height. The YesFlip mounts over the knuckle for high-steer conversions at 3.5"+ lift — requires both the high-steer conversion and minimum 3.5" of lift. Installing the wrong geometry for your knuckle setup produces unsafe steering.
Q: Does this fit my 2024 Willys?
Yes — the 2024+ Willys upgraded to the wide-track Dana 44 and is confirmed compatible with this kit, provided you have a high-steer conversion installed and minimum 3.5" of lift.
Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?
Advanced difficulty — not a standard intermediate install. High-steer flip geometry requires understanding of how the drag link interfaces with the over-knuckle position. Professional installation and alignment are not optional. Verify your lift height is a true 3.5" or more before installing. Confirm your high-steer knuckle brand compatibility before ordering. Full front-end alignment immediately after is mandatory — failure to center the steering wheel will trip the JL/JT's ESC traction warning light.
The Obsidian Take
The KIT120-Dana44-YesFlip is for the Rubicon, Sahara, 4xe, Mojave, or Gladiator JT owner who has already committed to a high-steer conversion on their wide-track Dana 44 and wants the steering kit to complete the geometry correction with zero maintenance overhead. The 2.0" x 1.75" split-diameter 7075-T6 construction delivers 2.5-ton joint capacity at 44.0 lbs — 8.5 lbs lighter than steel equivalents — with faster suspension response on heavy tire packages and meaningful EHPS motor protection over time. The Internal Flopper Stoppers permanently eliminate the steering dead zone that comes with generic aftermarket linkage on lifted Jeeps. The hard anodized finish is a conversion of the aluminum surface itself — it cannot chip or peel under trail contact. The integrated double-adjuster cuts alignment shop labor in half. One advanced install session, one alignment appointment, geometry corrected.
This kit is not for builds under 3.5" of lift — frame contact under compression is a hard physical limitation with no exceptions. It is not for standard knuckle builds — if you haven't done a high-steer conversion, order KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip. It is not for Dana 30 Sport or Sport S owners — see KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip. Factory Rubicon and Sahara wheels will not clear the joint housings — verify your wheel backspacing is 4.5" or less before ordering. If the mirror finish matters more than zero maintenance, the mechanically identical KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip in polished aluminum is the right call. Text (469) 407-7538 with your year, knuckle brand, lift height, and wheel specs and we'll verify geometry compatibility before we ship.
