Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Sport build doesn't need a Rubicon to run a serious steering kit.

The Sport and Sport S JL, JLU, and Gladiator JT run the Dana 30 front axle from the factory. Lift it 2–6 inches, put 35s or 37s under it, and the OEM linkage flexes and deflects under load — introducing the bump steer and vague front-end response that tells you the factory parts aren't keeping up.

The Apex Chassis KIT120-Dana30-NoFlip is the complete black anodized aluminum correction. 2.5-ton capacity, 1.5" solid 7075-T6 construction, Internal Flopper Stoppers, integrated double-adjuster, and a hard anodized surface that cannot chip, peel, or require maintenance. The Sport build gets the same engineering as the Rubicon build. Zero compromise on performance, zero maintenance on finish.

Why 1.5" on both bars — the clearance engineering behind it: The Dana 30 axle has tighter clearances near the steering stabilizer brackets and lower frame rails than the wide-track Dana 44. A 1.75" or 2.0" bar physically contacts the chassis mounts during tight steering lock cycles on this platform. The solid 1.5" 7075-T6 profile delivers elite structural yield strength while clearing the narrow axle architecture exactly as the geometry requires.

Why hard anodized over powdercoat or polished: Hard anodizing converts the outer layer of the aluminum itself into aluminum oxide — not a coating on top, but a conversion of the surface material. It cannot chip, peel, or flake under trail contact. For a Sport JL or Gladiator that sees trail use, mud, and real weather, the anodized surface stays intact without polish or upkeep. The polished version (KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip) requires occasional polish to maintain the mirror shine. The black anodized version requires nothing.

The Internal Flopper Stoppers advantage: Standard aftermarket steering on lifted Jeeps suffers from tie-rod roll — the steering box sector shaft force causes the bars to rotate forward and backward on their ball studs before actually turning the tires, creating the vague dead spot lifted Wrangler owners know too well. The Internal Flopper Stoppers are built inside the forged joint housings — 27 degrees of lateral stud swing for full suspension articulation, 2 degrees of forward and aft deflection. No dead spot. Immediate response.

2024–2026 Willys lockout: Jeep upgraded the Willys trim to the wide-track Dana 44 starting in 2024. If your Willys is 2024, 2025, or 2026 — this kit will not fit. Order KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip instead.

⚠️ Gladiator Max-Tow lockout: Gladiator Sport models with the factory Max-Tow package run the wide-track Dana 44. Check your build sheet or text us your VIN to confirm before ordering.

⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: Factory Sport 17" wheels run approximately 6.0" backspacing — the joint housings will contact the inner barrel at full steering lock. Low-offset aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers required.

⚠️ High-steer knuckle incompatibility: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will produce incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you have a high-steer conversion — order KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip.

Supporting mod requirements:

  • Lifts 2–3": Direct bolt-on beyond wheel backspacing requirement.
  • Lifts exceeding 3": Adjustable control arms or caster correction kit recommended to restore factory caster angle.

Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked

Q: What's the difference between KIT120-Dana30-NoFlip and KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip?

Same black anodized 7075-T6 aluminum construction, same Flopper Stoppers, same double-adjuster, same no-flip geometry. The Dana 30 version fits standard-track M186 axles — Sport and Sport S trims with the narrower axle, using 1.5" bars on both components. The Dana 44 version fits wide-track M210 axles — Rubicon, Sahara, 4xe, Mojave, 2024+ Willys, and Gladiator Dana 44 trims — and uses larger 2.0" x 1.75" bar diameters for the wider clearance envelope. Confirm your axle before ordering.

Q: What's the difference between KIT120-Dana30-NoFlip and KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip?

Same 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum construction, same Flopper Stoppers and double-adjuster system, same weight. The KIT120 is hard black anodized — zero maintenance, corrosion protection fused into the aluminum surface that cannot chip or peel. The KIT125 is raw polished mirror aluminum — show-quality finish, occasional polish required to maintain the shine. Same performance. Choose based on your build aesthetic and maintenance preference.

Q: Does this fit my 2025 Willys?

No. Jeep upgraded the Willys trim to the wide-track Dana 44 starting in 2024. Your 2025 Willys has a Dana 44 — order KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip instead.

Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?

Intermediate difficulty. Standard hand tools, a torque wrench, and a floor jack are required. A full front-end alignment immediately after is mandatory — failure to center the steering wheel will trip the JL/JT's ESC traction warning light. On lifts exceeding 3", have caster correction planned before the alignment appointment. Budget one garage session and one same-day alignment appointment.

The Obsidian Take

The KIT120-Dana30-NoFlip is for the JL Sport and Gladiator JT owner who built the truck to trail-ready standard and wants a steering kit that matches — with zero maintenance overhead. The 1.5" solid 7075-T6 construction is the correct diameter for the Dana 30 clearance envelope — larger bars bind against the chassis mounts on this narrow platform. The hard anodized surface cannot chip, peel, or flake under trail contact the way powdercoat eventually does — it is a conversion of the aluminum surface itself, not a layer on top. The Internal Flopper Stoppers eliminate the steering dead zone that comes standard with generic aftermarket linkage on lifted Jeeps. The ProLock adjustment system locks alignment against washboard vibration and trail loads. At 44 lbs it is a substantial upgrade that installs in one garage session with one alignment appointment.

This kit is not for Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, or Mojave owners — those trims run the Dana 44, see KIT120-Dana44-NoFlip. It is not for 2024 or newer Willys owners — Jeep upgraded the Willys to the Dana 44 in 2024. It is not for Gladiator Sport owners with the factory Max-Tow package — that package includes the Dana 44. It is not for builders running high-steer knuckle conversions on the Dana 30 — use KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip instead. And factory Sport 17" wheels will not clear the joint housings — verify your wheel backspacing is 4.75" or less before ordering. If the mirror finish matters more than zero maintenance, the mechanically identical KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip in polished aluminum is the right call.
