Description
The sPOD HD BantamX Kit (SKU 870110) is the vehicle-specific 8-circuit solid-state power management system engineered for the 2019–2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, 2500, and 3500 (VS30 platform). The HD switch panel mounts on the upper center console via a custom-angle vehicle-specific plate. The BantamX power module installs in the engine bay. A single Ethernet cable connects both — no wires cut, no factory circuits tapped, no cab penetration beyond the single cable run. Expandable to 32 channels. Operates on 12V or 24V DC.
⚠️ Critical warranty note for van builders: Any aftermarket brake controller, high-amp solenoid, or high-amp relay connected to the same positive battery post as the BantamX will cause irreversible damage to the system and void the warranty. If your Sprinter build includes a dual battery isolator solenoid, inverter relay, or shore power system sharing the main battery post, consult with sPOD or your installer before connecting the BantamX battery cables. Text (469) 407-7538 before ordering if this applies to your build.

Sprinter Build Circuit Applications
| Application | Notes |
|---|---|
| Interior LED lighting — strips, panels, scene lights | Well within 30A per circuit; typically 5–10A per zone |
| Exterior work lights and emergency lighting | Confirm draw per fixture — most LED work lights 10–20A |
| Air compressors — onboard air, air suspension | Single compressor typically 20–30A — confirm at peak draw |
| 12V refrigerators and coolers | Typically 5–15A; confirm surge current at startup |
| Cameras, dash cams, communication systems | Low-draw accessories — 1–5A per circuit |
| Inverters | DO NOT run inverter load through sPOD circuits — inverters draw far beyond 30A. Use sPOD only for inverter on/off trigger signal, not inverter power |
| Dual battery isolator solenoids, shore power relays | See critical warning above — high-amp solenoids on the same battery post void warranty and damage the system |
Critical Compatibility — Does NOT Fit
FITMENT: VS30 platform only. 2018 and earlier NCV3 Sprinters do not fit. Questions? Text (469) 407-7538.
| Configuration | Reason |
|---|---|
| 2018 and earlier Mercedes Sprinter (2nd Gen NCV3) | Different platform and electrical architecture. NCV3 and VS30 are not interchangeable. |
| 2024–2026 Mercedes Sprinter | VS30 platform continuity into 2024+ has not been confirmed by sPOD. Verify before ordering. Text (469) 407-7538. |
| Ford Transit — all years | Different platform. Not compatible with this SKU. |
| Ram ProMaster — all years | Different platform. Not compatible with this SKU. |
| Mercedes Metris | Different platform. Not compatible with this SKU. |
| High-amp solenoids or brake controllers on the same battery post | Irreversible damage to the BantamX system — warranty voided. Isolate the BantamX battery connection from any high-amp relay or solenoid on the same positive post. |
| Inverter loads run through sPOD circuits | Inverters draw far beyond 30A. Use the sPOD circuit only to trigger the inverter — not to power it. |
| Winches and high-draw recovery motors | 30A max per circuit. Winches draw 250–400A under load. Wire winches direct to battery through a dedicated relay. |
Common Questions
Where does the HD switch panel mount in the Sprinter? The HD panel mounts on the upper center console via the included custom-angle vehicle-specific mounting plate. The plate is designed at the optimal angle for easy switch access from the driver position without obstructing sight lines or center console function. The BantamX module mounts in the engine bay, connected to the HD panel via the single 10-ft Ethernet cable.
I'm running a dual battery system with an isolator solenoid. Can I still use this kit? Yes — but the BantamX battery cables must NOT share the same positive battery post as the isolator solenoid or any other high-amp relay. sPOD's installation documentation explicitly states that any high-amp solenoid or relay on the same positive post will cause irreversible damage and void the warranty. Connect the BantamX cables to a dedicated battery terminal or an isolated bus bar away from the solenoid. Text (469) 407-7538 before ordering to confirm your dual battery setup is compatible.
Can I run my inverter through the sPOD circuits? No. Inverters draw far beyond the 30A per circuit maximum — a 1000W inverter at 12V draws approximately 83A under load. Do not run inverter load through any sPOD circuit. Use one sPOD circuit to trigger the inverter's remote on/off signal only. The inverter itself must be wired directly to the battery with appropriate fusing.
Van builds run multiple circuits simultaneously — does that affect the system? Yes, and this is the most important capacity calculation to run before finalizing your circuit map. The BantamX's total system capacity is 100A across all 8 circuits simultaneously. If you are running a compressor at 25A, interior lighting at 15A, a refrigerator at 10A, and a camera system at 5A simultaneously, your aggregate draw is 55A — well within the 100A total. Map your peak simultaneous draw before wiring and ensure it stays below 100A total.
Does the 2018 Sprinter fit this kit? No. The 2018 Sprinter is an NCV3 platform (2nd gen). This kit is built for the VS30 platform (3rd gen) which launched in 2019. The platforms are not interchangeable.
What does installation actually take — time, tools, and skill level? Advanced DIY or professional level for van builds. The vehicle-specific brackets and hardware eliminate custom fabrication for the console mount and module placement. Plan for 3–4 hours for a clean finished install in a bare van; longer if working around existing build components. Van conversion specialists familiar with the VS30 platform are the recommended installers for complex builds. Text (469) 407-7538 with pre-install questions.
The Obsidian Take
The HD BantamX (870110) is for the VS30 Sprinter builder who wants 8 circuits of clean, fuse-free accessory power managed from a dedicated HD switch panel on the upper center console — with Bluetooth app control in parallel, vehicle-specific hardware for both the console and module positions, and the ability to expand to 32 channels as the build grows.
The single most important pre-installation step for a Sprinter build is confirming your battery post configuration. If you are running a dual battery isolator, shore power relay, or any high-amp solenoid on the same positive post, isolate the BantamX connection before installing. That is the one technical mistake on this platform that cannot be undone.
Eight circuits. One cable into the cab. Upper console placement. Built for the build — not bolted on afterward.
Non-Returnable Notice: Electrical systems that have been powered and connected to a vehicle are non-returnable. Inspect the kit and confirm fitment before connecting to the battery.
