HSLA (High Strength Low Alloy) steel achieves higher yield and tensile strength than standard mild steel through the addition of small quantities of alloying elements — typically vanadium, niobium, or titanium — without the weight increase of heavier alloy steels. For rocker protection applications, this means the Deluxe Rock Rail can absorb and distribute impact loads from rock strikes and trail obstacles at a weight appropriate for the JL platform. The no-drill mounting system uses the Wrangler JL's factory body mounting holes, preserving the factory corrosion protection applied at those locations during manufacturing. The rail is designed for mild to moderate off-road use — rock crawling at extreme angles or sustained high-impact trail use may exceed the design parameters of the Deluxe series.
