The Rock Slide Engineering Removable Drop Step (SKU SL-304-SP) is the 4-inch drop step accessory for the Rock Slide Deluxe Rock Rail (SL-300-JL4) on the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL. HSLA High Strength Low Alloy steel internal structure with aluminum exterior. Grip tape step surface. Two-bolt installation per step using the OEM Mopar JL tool kit. Comes with 4 steps — sufficient for a 4-door JL Unlimited application. Steps mount directly to the installed SL-300-JL4 rail and are removable independently without modifying the rail.

The SL-300-JL4 Deluxe Rock Rail is required for installation and is NOT included. This step kit does not mount without it.

This step kit mounts exclusively to the Rock Slide Engineering Deluxe Rock Rail (SL-300-JL4). It does not mount to the vehicle body, frame, or any other Rock Slide Engineering rail series directly. Install the SL-300-JL4 rail before ordering this step kit.

Choose the 4-inch drop for a stock or mildly lifted JL. Choose the 7-inch drop (SL-307-SP) for JL builds with significant lift where more drop is needed for comfortable step height.

Do I need anything besides this kit to install the steps? Yes — two things. First, the SL-300-JL4 Deluxe Rock Rail must already be installed on your JL. This step kit mounts to the rail, not directly to the vehicle. Second, the OEM Mopar JL tool kit is required for the 2-bolt installation per step. Confirm you have both before ordering.

4-inch drop vs. 7-inch drop — which is right for my JL? On a stock or mildly lifted JL (1–2 inches), the 4-inch drop (SL-304-SP) provides a comfortable step height for most door sill heights. On a significantly lifted JL (3 inches or more), the 7-inch drop (SL-307-SP) brings the step closer to a natural stride distance from the ground. If you are unsure, measure from the installed rail to the ground and compare against a comfortable step height for your build.

Can I remove the steps for trail use and reinstall for daily driving? Yes. The steps are independently removable without modifying or removing the SL-300-JL4 rail. This is the core benefit of the Deluxe Rock Rail system — trail clearance when the steps are off, daily-use accessibility when they are on.

Does this kit include steps for both driver and passenger sides? Yes — 4 steps are included, providing coverage for a 4-door JL Unlimited application (2 per side).
