Fitment, Shipping & Product Support

The Rock Slide Engineering Deluxe Rock Rail (SKU SL-300-JT4) is the HSLA alloy steel rocker protection system for the 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT. No-drill installation onto factory body mounting holes — no cutting, no bare metal exposure, no compromised corrosion protection. HSLA steel delivers the yield and tensile strength required for mild to moderate trail use at 85 lbs per pair, appropriate for the Gladiator's wheelbase and suspension geometry. Compatible with the Rock Slide 4-inch drop step (SL-304-SP) and 7-inch drop step (SL-307-SP). Sold as a pair — driver and passenger side included.

Why HSLA Steel for Rocker Protection

HSLA (High Strength Low Alloy) steel achieves higher yield and tensile strength than standard mild steel through small quantities of alloying elements — typically vanadium, niobium, or titanium — without the weight penalty of heavier alloy steels. For rocker protection this means the Deluxe Rock Rail absorbs and distributes rock strike and trail obstacle impact loads at 85 lbs per pair — appropriate for the JT's wheelbase and suspension geometry without additional weight management considerations.

Why No-Drill Installation Matters

The factory-hole mounting system uses the Gladiator's existing body mounting points, preserving the factory corrosion protection applied at those locations during manufacturing. Drilling new holes in the rocker area exposes bare metal to moisture and accelerates corrosion at every penetration point. The no-drill system eliminates that risk entirely.

Drop Step Compatibility

Step SKU Drop Height Mount Method Notes
SL-304-SP 4 inches Mounts directly to installed rail Adds daily-use step access without modifying rail's trail clearance profile
SL-307-SP 7 inches Mounts directly to installed rail Greater step-down for lifted applications

Drop steps are sold separately. Either step can be added or removed independently of the rail — daily-use accessibility and trail clearance are managed separately.

Deluxe Rock Rail vs. Step Slider — Use Case Selector

Series Rail Construction Off-Road Rating Step Integrated Best For
Deluxe Rock Rail — SL-300-JT4 (this listing) HSLA alloy steel Mild to moderate Optional add-on Daily driver with mild to moderate trail exposure; clean factory-hole install
Step Slider Tube slider construction Moderate to aggressive Typically integrated More aggressive trail use, sustained rock contact, extreme angle crawling

If your Gladiator sees extreme rock crawling angles or sustained high-impact trail use, the Step Slider series provides additional protection. The Deluxe Rock Rail is engineered for the daily-to-trail crossover build — not dedicated rock crawling rigs.

Critical Compatibility

Configuration Notes
Jeep Wrangler JK / JL Does not fit — JT Gladiator-specific mounting geometry. Wrangler body mounting points differ from the Gladiator.
Vehicles with aftermarket body lifts Factory-hole mounting geometry may be affected. Verify before ordering.
Frame or rocker modifications Confirm factory mounting points are undamaged and in stock location before ordering.
Aggressive rock crawling or sustained high-impact trail use This rail is rated for mild to moderate use. Evaluate Rock Slide Step Slider series for more aggressive applications.
Drop steps SL-304-SP and SL-307-SP are not included — sold separately. Install the rail first; steps mount to the installed rail.

Common Questions

Does no-drill installation mean I need to remove any factory hardware? The installation uses existing factory body mounting holes. Factory mounting hardware at those locations will be removed and replaced with the Rock Slide mounting hardware during installation. No new holes are drilled, and no cutting to the body or frame is required. Verify factory mounting points are undamaged and free of corrosion before installing.

My Gladiator has a 2-inch body lift. Will this still fit? Possibly not with factory-hole alignment. A body lift changes the relationship between the body mounting points and the frame, which can affect the mounting geometry of products designed for factory-hole installation. Confirm with Rock Slide Engineering before ordering if your JT has any body lift installed.

Can I add steps later without removing the rail? Yes. The SL-304-SP (4-inch) and SL-307-SP (7-inch) drop steps mount directly to the installed rail and can be added or removed independently. Install the rail on day one and add steps when needed — no rail removal required.

Is this rail strong enough for the Rubicon Trail or similar terrain? The Deluxe Rock Rail is rated for mild to moderate trail use. Sustained high-impact rock contact, extreme approach or departure angle crawling, and dedicated rock crawling applications may exceed the Deluxe series design parameters. For Rubicon-level or more aggressive use, evaluate the Rock Slide Step Slider series.

The Obsidian Take

The Rock Slide Engineering Deluxe Rock Rail (SL-300-JT4) is for the Gladiator owner who daily drives the truck and takes it onto mild to moderate trails — someone who wants legitimate rocker protection without the weight, cost, or installation complexity of a full tube slider. HSLA steel, factory-hole mount, no bare metal exposure, 85 lbs per pair, and optional step compatibility that installs directly onto the rail when daily-use accessibility matters.

This is not the rail for a dedicated rock crawling build. If the Gladiator sees extreme terrain regularly, the Step Slider series is the correct platform. If it splits time between highway and moderate trail with occasional rock exposure, the Deluxe Rail is the right call at the right weight.
