Description
Apex Chassis 1-Ton Steering Kit | Tie Rod + Drag Link | 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK / JKU (Standard Geometry)
The Apex Chassis KIT150-NoFlip is a complete 1-ton heavy-duty steering kit replacing the factory tie rod and drag link on the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU. Constructed from black-anodized aluminum with phosphate-coated rod ends, this system eliminates the flex and deflection inherent in OEM JK steering linkage under larger tire loads, lifted geometry, and repeated off-road impact. Standard (no-flip) geometry — designed for builds running OEM or mild aftermarket knuckles without high-steer conversion. Oversized serviceable joints extend service life and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
- Jeep Wrangler JK (2-door): 2007–2018
- Jeep Wrangler JKU (4-door Unlimited): 2007–2018
Does NOT fit: 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU (different steering geometry and knuckle configuration). Does not fit high-steer knuckle conversions — a flip kit variant is required for high-steer applications. Does not fit Jeep Gladiator JT.
Technical Specifications
- Part Number: KIT150-NoFlip-JJSP
- Configuration: 1-ton tie rod + drag link assembly
- Material: Black-anodized aluminum
- Rod Ends: Phosphate-coated high-misalignment ends
- Geometry: Standard (no-flip) — OEM and mild aftermarket knuckle compatible
- Weight: 25.6 lbs
- Application: Lifted JK/JKU builds — 2–6" lift range
Installation Notes
- Alignment required: Full front-end alignment (caster, camber, toe) mandatory after installation. Tie rod and drag link replacement directly affects toe and caster settings — do not drive until aligned.
- Torque specs: Tie rod and drag link end jam nuts — torque to manufacturer specification (verify in Apex install sheet). Castellated nuts at knuckle and pitman arm — torque to 55–75 ft-lbs and install cotter pin.
- Lift requirement: Designed for 2–6" lifted applications. Verify drag link angle on stock-height JKs before installation to avoid bump steer.
- High-steer caveat: This is the standard no-flip kit. If running high-steer knuckles (e.g., Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy), a flip kit variant is required — do not substitute.
- Caster correction: On lifts exceeding 3", adjustable control arms or a caster correction kit is recommended to restore factory caster angle after installation.
Installation Warning
Steering kit replacement directly affects steering geometry, scrub radius, bump steer, and caster settings. Do not drive the vehicle until a full front-end alignment has been completed by a qualified alignment technician. Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will result in incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. Once installed, the unit is non-returnable.
What is your current lift height, tire size, and are you running OEM knuckles or a high-steer conversion that would require the flip kit variant instead?
