Description
Is This for You?
- You're running your JL on rocky terrain and the rear shock mounts and lower control arm brackets are exposed to rock strikes that can bend or damage the factory components — this pair of bolt-on skid plates wraps around the rear shock bracket and lower control arm mount locations, creating a 1/4" steel base plate with 3/16" side bracing barrier between the factory components and trail obstacles. No cutting or welding required. Sold as a pair — covers both driver and passenger sides.
- You want skid plates that include Grade 8 hardware (9/16-18" and M12) that replaces the factory lower control arm and shock mount bolts, eliminating factory bolt slop and improving suspension stability — the included Grade 8 hardware replaces the factory lower control arm and shock mount bolts with a tighter, no-play upgrade that improves overall suspension stability. The skid plates are designed with optimized clearance for large aftermarket shocks — compatible with oversized shock bodies without modification.
- You want a bolt-on skid plate with a drain hole to prevent water accumulation, built from 1/4" steel base with 3/16" side bracing — made in the USA — the composite construction uses a 1/4" steel base plate for impact resistance and 3/16" side bracing for lateral rigidity. A strategically placed drain hole prevents water buildup inside the skid. Bolt-on installation, no cutting or welding required.
The Result
- Rear shock bracket and lower control arm skid plates — sold as a pair (driver and passenger). 1/4" steel base plate with 3/16" side bracing. Bolt-on, no cutting or welding. Protects rear shock mounts and lower control arm brackets from rock strikes and trail debris.
- Includes Grade 8 hardware (9/16-18" and M12) that replaces factory lower control arm and shock mount bolts — tighter, no-play upgrade improves suspension stability. Optimized clearance for large aftermarket shocks. Drain hole prevents water accumulation.
- Fits 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL (2-Door and 4-Door). Made in the USA.
The COR-4109030 is Clayton Off Road's rear shock bracket and lower control arm skid plates for the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL, sold as a pair covering both driver and passenger sides. The rear shock mount and lower control arm bracket locations on the JL are exposed to rock strikes and trail debris during off-road use. These skid plates are constructed from a 1/4" steel base plate with 3/16" side bracing and bolt to the existing mount locations using the included Grade 8 hardware. The Grade 8 hardware (9/16-18" and M12) replaces the factory lower control arm and shock mount bolts, providing a tighter, no-play fit that improves overall suspension stability in addition to the protective function of the skid plates. The skid plates are designed with optimized clearance for large aftermarket shock bodies — compatible with oversized shocks without modification. A strategically placed drain hole prevents water accumulation inside the skid. No cutting or welding required. Made in the USA.

Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
✅ Fits 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL (2-Door and 4-Door) — All Trims — Rear Shock Bracket and Control Arm Skid Plates
❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Gladiator JT (2020–2026) — different rear shock and control arm bracket geometry; see COR-4110010 for JT control arm bracket skids
❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Wrangler JK (2007–2018) — different rear suspension architecture
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- No cutting or welding required — 100% bolt-on installation.
- Remove the factory lower control arm and shock mount bolts at the rear shock bracket and lower control arm mount locations on both sides.
- Position the skid plates over the OEM bracket locations.
- Install the included Grade 8 hardware (9/16-18" and M12) in place of the factory bolts per Clayton's installation instructions.
- Torque all hardware to specification.
- Verify full suspension articulation after installation — confirm no contact between the skid plates and the shock bodies or control arms at full droop and full compression.
- Verify the drain hole is unobstructed after installation.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Compatible with standard JL wheel and tire combinations. These skid plates protect the rear shock mounts and lower control arm brackets and do not affect wheel or tire fitment directly. Optimized clearance accommodates large aftermarket shock bodies — verify clearance with your specific shock if running an oversized body diameter.
Engineering Question: Confirm your vehicle is a 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL. If you have a Gladiator JT, see COR-4110010 for the JT rear lower control arm bracket skid plates. Also confirm your rear shock body diameter if running large aftermarket shocks — the skid plates are designed with optimized clearance for oversized shock bodies, but verify clearance with your specific shock before installation.
