This is a rear-half fabrication kit — it includes weld-on rear frame brackets, double-adjustable control arms, a 4-link axle truss, and all hardware. The 3-link rear geometry provides maximum axle articulation by eliminating the factory 4-link rear geometry's binding characteristics at extreme suspension travel. The frame-end joints are Currie Johnny Joints — a 3-piece design with a steel ball, Tough 88 urethane casing, and housing that provides 40° of unrestricted movement with the shock absorption and NVH isolation that heim joints cannot provide. The axle-end joints are GIIRO dual-durometer bushings — maintenance-free and self-centering. Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Welding required. The rear frame brackets are weld-on — professional fabrication capability or access to a certified welder is required. Do not attempt to run this kit with brackets only tack-welded or bolted temporarily.
- Custom exhaust required. The long arm rear geometry requires a custom exhaust to clear the new suspension layout. Plan and fabricate the exhaust before final installation of the rear suspension.
- Install the 4-link axle truss to the rear axle before installing the control arms — the truss reinforces the axle tube at the control arm mount locations.
- Weld the rear frame brackets to the LJ frame at the correct locations per Clayton's installation instructions — verify bracket position and angle before final weld-out.
- Install the double-adjustable control arms and set initial length per Clayton's geometry specifications for your lift height.
- Set pinion angle and anti-squat geometry with the vehicle at ride height after full installation.
- Rear alignment (toe, thrust angle) must be verified after installation.
- Torque all control arm hardware at ride height, not at full droop or compression.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Compatible with standard LJ wheel and tire combinations. Long arm rear geometry affects suspension travel and tire clearance — verify clearance at full droop and full compression with your specific tire size after installation.
Engineering Question: Do you have access to a certified welder and the ability to fabricate a custom exhaust? This kit requires both — the rear frame brackets are weld-on and the factory exhaust will not clear the long arm rear geometry. Also confirm your vehicle is a 2004–2006 LJ Unlimited (4-door, long wheelbase) — this kit does not fit the standard 2-door TJ or any JK/JL platform.
