Description
⚠️ IMPORTANT: This skid plate requires removal of the stock steering stabilizer bracket before installation. Clayton's high-clearance over-the-tie-rod steering stabilizer conversion bracket (COR-5209011) is required as a replacement. Order COR-5209011 before or with this skid plate.
Is This for You?
- You're running your JL or JT off-road and the front axle disconnect (FAD) unit — including its plastic and aluminum disconnector motor — is exposed to rock strikes and trail debris that can crack or destroy the factory components — this 1/4" skid plate bolts over the FAD unit using 6 mounting points, protecting both the front and rear of the FAD mount and the plastic and aluminum disconnector motor. The rear section is made slightly taller specifically to provide maximum coverage over the disconnector motor housing.
- You want a 6-point bolt-on FAD skid plate with countersunk lower bolts for clearance and factory hardware reused at the top 4 locations — the skid plate uses 6 mounting points total. The lower 2 mounting locations use new countersunk bolts (included) for clearance. The top 4 mounting locations reuse the factory hardware. No cutting or welding required.
- You understand that the stock steering stabilizer bracket must be removed before this skid plate can be installed, and that Clayton's COR-5209011 high-clearance steering stabilizer conversion bracket is required as a replacement — the stock steering stabilizer bracket occupies space that this skid plate requires. The stock bracket must be removed. Clayton's COR-5209011 high-clearance, over-the-tie-rod steering stabilizer conversion bracket is the correct replacement. Order COR-5209011 before or with this skid plate.
The Result
- Front axle disconnect (FAD) skid plate for 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT — 1/4" steel, 6-point bolt-on. Protects the FAD unit front and rear, including the plastic and aluminum disconnector motor.
- Taller rear section for maximum disconnector motor coverage. Countersunk lower bolts included for clearance. Top 4 locations reuse factory hardware. No cutting or welding required.
- Requires removal of stock steering stabilizer bracket. COR-5209011 high-clearance steering stabilizer conversion bracket required as replacement.
The COR-4109010 is Clayton Off Road's front axle disconnect (FAD) skid plate for the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT. The FAD unit on the JL and JT — including its plastic and aluminum disconnector motor — is mounted in a vulnerable position on the front axle and is exposed to rock strikes and trail debris during off-road use. A direct hit to the disconnector motor can crack or destroy the plastic and aluminum housing, disabling the front axle disconnect system. This 1/4" skid plate bolts over the FAD unit using 6 mounting points, protecting both the front and rear of the FAD mount. The rear section is made slightly taller than the front to provide maximum coverage over the disconnector motor housing. The lower 2 mounting locations use new countersunk bolts (included) for clearance. The top 4 mounting locations reuse the factory hardware. The stock steering stabilizer bracket must be removed before this skid plate can be installed — the stock bracket occupies space required by the skid plate. Clayton's COR-5209011 high-clearance, over-the-tie-rod steering stabilizer conversion bracket is the correct replacement and must be ordered separately. No cutting or welding required for the skid plate installation itself.

Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Step 1 — Required prerequisite: Remove the stock steering stabilizer bracket before installing this skid plate. The stock bracket must be replaced with Clayton's COR-5209011 high-clearance, over-the-tie-rod steering stabilizer conversion bracket. Install COR-5209011 per its installation instructions before proceeding.
- No cutting or welding required for the skid plate installation.
- Position the FAD skid plate over the front axle disconnect unit.
- Install the included countersunk bolts at the lower 2 mounting locations for clearance.
- Reuse the factory hardware at the top 4 mounting locations.
- Torque all hardware to specification.
- Verify no contact between the skid plate and adjacent components through the full steering range before trail use.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Compatible with standard JL and JT wheel and tire combinations. This skid plate protects the front axle disconnect unit and does not affect wheel or tire fitment directly. Verify no contact with steering components through the full steering range after installation.
Engineering Question: Have you ordered or do you have the COR-5209011 high-clearance steering stabilizer conversion bracket? The stock steering stabilizer bracket must be removed before this FAD skid plate can be installed — COR-5209011 is the required replacement. Do not order this skid plate without also ordering COR-5209011 if you do not already have it.
