Description
Is This for You?
- You're building a tie rod flip on your WJ and need the tapered knuckle bushing that allows an OE-style WJ tie rod end to mount on top of the knuckle — this CNC-machined tapered bushing presses into the knuckle after drilling to 3/4", converting the knuckle to accept an OE-style WJ tie rod end in the top-mount (flip) position.
- You need a precision-machined, corrosion-resistant bushing that seats correctly in the 3/4" drilled knuckle bore — CNC machined with a tapered profile for a secure press fit, gold zinc plated for corrosion resistance. Sold individually — order the quantity needed for your specific flip kit configuration.
- You're sourcing individual components for a custom WJ steering flip build — this bushing is the knuckle interface component; you will also need the appropriate WJ tie rod end and flip kit hardware to complete the system.
The Result
- CNC-machined tapered bushing, gold zinc plated — presses into the 3/4" drilled knuckle bore to provide the correct seat geometry for an OE-style WJ tie rod end in the top-mount flip position.
- Tapered profile — seats securely in the drilled bore without movement under steering load; taper geometry matches the OE-style WJ tie rod end taper for correct seating and retention.
- Sold each — order the quantity required for your specific flip kit configuration.
The COR-5200950 is Clayton Off Road's flip kit tie rod knuckle bushing for the 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. The bushing is CNC machined with a tapered profile and gold zinc plated for corrosion resistance. Installation requires drilling the WJ knuckle to 3/4" at the tie rod mount location — the tapered bushing is then pressed into the drilled bore, providing the correct seat geometry for an OE-style WJ tie rod end to mount on top of the knuckle in the flip position. The tapered profile matches the taper of the OE-style WJ tie rod end for correct seating and retention under steering load. This bushing is the knuckle interface component of a WJ tie rod flip build — the appropriate WJ tie rod end and flip kit hardware are required to complete the system. Sold individually. Made in the USA.

Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
✅ Fits 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ — Flip Kit Tie Rod Knuckle Bushing, 3/4" Drill Required
❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ (1993–1998) — different knuckle geometry and tie rod end spec
❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Grand Cherokee WK (2005–2010) — different front knuckle architecture
❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Wrangler JK — JK flip kit uses COR-5208210 (7/8" drill, different bushing spec)
❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Cherokee XJ — different front knuckle geometry
❌ This bushing alone does not complete the flip kit — OE-style WJ tie rod end and flip kit hardware required
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Drill the WJ knuckle to exactly 3/4" at the tie rod mount location before pressing in the bushing. An undersized bore will prevent the bushing from seating; an oversized bore will result in a loose fit and bushing movement under steering load.
- Use a drill press or step drill with a guide for a straight, on-axis bore — an angled bore will misalign the tie rod end taper and cause binding or improper seating.
- Press the tapered bushing into the drilled bore using a press or appropriate driver — do not hammer without a driver; uneven force will distort the bushing taper.
- Verify the bushing is fully seated and the taper is flush with the knuckle surface before installing the tie rod end.
- Install the OE-style WJ tie rod end into the bushing taper and torque the retaining nut to specification.
- Sold each — verify the quantity required for your specific flip kit configuration before ordering.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Steering component — no direct wheel or tire fitment restriction. Tie rod flip geometry affects steering feel and tire wear — verify front alignment after installation with your specific tire size and lift height.
Engineering Question: Have you confirmed your knuckle is a 1999–2004 WJ knuckle and that your flip kit requires a 3/4" tapered bushing? The JK flip kit uses a different bushing (COR-5208210, 7/8" bore, non-tapered) — verify your platform and drill size before ordering. Also confirm the quantity needed — this bushing is sold individually.
