Description
Is This for You?
- You want a complete bolt-in WJ tie rod upgrade with OE-style end links already installed — open the box, unbolt the factory tie rod, and bolt this in — unlike the bar-only COR-5206921, this complete system includes the 7075-T651 aluminum tie rod bar with OE-style end links pre-installed, so there's nothing to source or thread separately.
- You're upgrading your WJ steering system at stock height or with a lift and want a heavy-duty tie rod that works with both — this system is compatible with stock-height and lifted WJ builds, and pairs with the Clayton WJ aluminum drag link bar (COR-5206911) for a complete heavy-duty bolt-in steering upgrade.
- You already have upgraded end links and want just the bars and hardware without paying for new ends — if you've already upgraded your end links, check out the Clayton WJ Upgrade Steering System, which provides the aluminum tie rod, drag link, jam nuts, and stabilizer mount and allows you to reuse your existing end links.
The Result
- Complete bolt-in tie rod system — 1-3/8" solid 7075-T651 aluminum bar with OE-style end links pre-installed. Unbolt the factory tie rod, bolt this in, done. No separate end link sourcing required.
- Compatible with stock height and lifted WJ builds — pairs with COR-5206911 drag link bar for a complete heavy-duty bolt-in WJ steering upgrade.
- Factory steering stabilizer NOT compatible — upgraded tie rod stabilizer mount and Fox or Bilstein steering stabilizer required (see related items). Right knuckle tie rod end (CRO-5208870AA) is non-greaseable.
The COR-5206906 is Clayton Off Road's complete 7075 aluminum tie rod system for the 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. The system includes the 1-3/8" solid 7075-T651 aluminum tie rod bar with OE-style end links pre-installed — the complete assembly is ready to bolt in as a direct replacement for the factory WJ tie rod without any additional parts sourcing. The 7075-T651 alloy provides significantly higher tensile strength than the factory stamped steel tie rod, resisting the bending and flex that causes factory WJ tie rods to deform under trail load and high-steer inputs. Installation is 100% bolt-in at stock height or with a lift: remove the factory tie rod and install this assembly in its place. Note: the factory WJ steering stabilizer is not compatible with this system — an upgraded tie rod stabilizer mount and a Fox or Bilstein steering stabilizer are required before driving. The right knuckle tie rod end (CRO-5208870AA) included in this system is non-greaseable — it is a sealed, maintenance-free end. If you have already upgraded your WJ end links and want to reuse them, the Clayton WJ Upgrade Steering System is the appropriate option as it includes the aluminum bars, jam nuts, and stabilizer mount without new end links. Pairs with COR-5206911 (drag link bar) for a complete heavy-duty bolt-in WJ steering upgrade. Made in the USA.

❌ Does NOT fit Jeep Grand Cherokee WK (2005–2010) — different front steering architecture

❌ Factory WJ steering stabilizer NOT compatible — upgraded stabilizer mount and Fox or Bilstein stabilizer required before driving
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Remove the factory WJ tie rod assembly — this complete system replaces it as a direct bolt-in.
- Install this assembly in the factory tie rod position — no cutting, welding, or bracket modification required.
- Do not reinstall the factory steering stabilizer — it is not compatible with this system. Install an upgraded tie rod stabilizer mount and a Fox or Bilstein steering stabilizer before driving.
- The right knuckle tie rod end (CRO-5208870AA) is non-greaseable — do not attempt to install a grease fitting; it is a sealed, maintenance-free end.
- Torque all end link hardware to OE specification at ride height.
- Front alignment (toe) must be verified after installation — adjust via end link thread engagement as needed.
- If pairing with COR-5206911 drag link bar, install both before setting final alignment.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Compatible with standard WJ wheel and tire combinations at stock height and with a lift. Verify toe alignment after installation with your specific tire size.
Engineering Question: Have you already upgraded your WJ end links? If so, the Clayton WJ Upgrade Steering System is the better option — it includes the aluminum bars, jam nuts, and stabilizer mount and lets you reuse your existing end links without paying for new ones. Also confirm you have an upgraded steering stabilizer and tie rod mount ready — the factory WJ stabilizer is not compatible and the vehicle should not be driven without a steering stabilizer installed.
