Description
Is This for You?
- You're running a 6-cylinder TJ or LJ on stock suspension, a short arm lift, or a Clayton Off Road long arm kit and your transfer case and transmission have zero armor underneath. At 86 lbs of laser-cut steel, this skid ends that exposure permanently.
- You want a bolt-on skid plate that doesn't require pulling the entire assembly to service your drivetrain. The 2-piece cradle-and-skid design lets you drop the flat skid independently — transmission and t-case stay accessible.
- You're building a TJ or LJ for technical trail use and need a skid that gains real ground clearance, not just coverage. 1997–2002 models gain approximately 1.25", 2003–2006 models gain approximately 1.5" over stock.
The Result
- 2-piece construction: 3/16" laser-cut steel cradle + 1/4" laser-cut flat skid — the cradle bolts into OEM locations and picks up the transmission mount; the skid attaches to the cradle via countersunk Allen head bolts.
- Bolt-on fitment for any 6-cylinder TJ/LJ — compatible with stock, short arm lift, and Clayton Off Road long arm configurations without modification (Rubicon and 4-cylinder exceptions noted below).
- Approximate ground clearance gain: 1.25" on 1997–2002 models, 1.5" on 2003–2006 models — a measurable improvement over the factory skid geometry.
The COR-4105100 is a purpose-built 2-piece skid plate system for the TJ and LJ platform. The cradle is laser-cut from 3/16" steel and bolts directly into OEM mounting locations while also picking up the transmission mount — this dual-attachment approach adds structural rigidity to the entire skid system rather than relying on a single mounting plane. The flat skid is laser-cut from 1/4" steel and attaches to the cradle via countersunk Allen head bolts, keeping the underside profile as flat and snag-free as possible on rock. The 2-piece design is the key serviceability advantage: you can remove the flat skid to access the transmission and transfer case without disturbing the cradle or its mounting points. At 86 lbs total, this is a heavy-duty assembly — plan your installation with a second set of hands or a floor jack for support during fitment. Ships bare metal; coat before installation to prevent surface oxidation.

- ❌ Rubicon models without a 1" body lift — body lift required for proper clearance
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Cradle bolts into OEM mounting locations and picks up the transmission mount — no drilling required on standard 6-cylinder applications.
- 1997–2002 Auto 999 transmission: Cradle may require trimming for clearance — verify transmission type before ordering.
- Rubicon models: 1" body lift required. Clayton Off Road optional compressor mount recommended to maintain compressor clearance.
- Flat skid attaches to cradle via countersunk Allen head bolts — use a hex/Allen socket for proper seating; do not substitute standard hex head bolts.
- Torque all fasteners to Grade 8 spec for your fastener diameter — verify against Clayton Off Road installation documentation.
- Install with a second person or floor jack support — 86 lbs overhead is a two-person job.
- Bare metal finish: Apply primer and topcoat before installation. Surface rust or cosmetic marks from shipping are expected and do not affect structural performance. Contact OFAS for freight/pallet shipping if cosmetic condition is a priority.
- California Prop 65 Warning: This product can expose you to chemicals including those known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. See P65Warnings.ca.gov.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
No direct wheel or tire fitment restriction for this skid plate. Verify that your lift height and tire size do not create undercarriage clearance conflicts with the skid plate profile. Ground clearance gain varies by model year — see specs above.
Engineering Question: What year is your TJ or LJ, and what transmission are you running — automatic or manual? 1997–2002 Auto 999 transmissions may require cradle trimming, and Rubicon models require a 1" body lift. Confirm your configuration before ordering.
