Description
Axiom Zinc Plated Spindle Bolt | 2001–2010 Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra 1500, 2500HD & 3500HD | Front Hub Retention
The Axiom Zinc Plated Spindle Bolt (SKU: AXGM1571) is a direct-fit replacement spindle bolt for the front hub assembly on 2001–2010 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500HD, and 3500HD trucks (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms). The spindle bolt retains the spindle and hub assembly — a worn, corroded, stripped, or undertorqued spindle bolt compromises front-end stability, causes premature bearing wear, and in severe cases can result in hub separation. Zinc-plated steel construction resists corrosion. OEM-style direct-fit replacement. Replace during any hub or bearing service, and torque to OEM specification — do not estimate.
Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
- Chevy Silverado 1500 (Front Hub): 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900)
- Chevy Silverado 2500HD (Front Hub): 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900)
- Chevy Silverado 3500HD (Front Hub): 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900)
- GMC Sierra 1500 (Front Hub): 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900)

When to Replace the Spindle Bolt
- During any front wheel bearing replacement or hub assembly service
- When the bolt shows visible corrosion, thread damage, or deformation
- When the bolt cannot be torqued to OEM specification due to thread wear or stripping
- As a preventive replacement on high-mileage or rust-belt trucks during front-end rebuilds
Installation Notes
- Torque to OEM specification — mandatory: Torque the spindle bolt to OEM specification for 2001–2010 GM 1500/2500HD/3500HD (verify in GM service manual). Do not estimate torque — undertorque allows hub movement and bearing wear; overtorque can strip threads or crack the spindle.
- Thread inspection: Inspect the spindle threads before installation. Damaged or corroded spindle threads must be chased with a thread chaser or tap before installing the new bolt. Do not force a bolt onto damaged threads.
- Replace during hub service: Replace the spindle bolt any time the hub assembly is removed. Reusing a previously torqued bolt on a high-mileage truck risks thread fatigue and undertorque.
- Hub bore inspection: Inspect the hub assembly and spindle for wear or damage before reinstalling. A worn hub bore will not retain the assembly correctly regardless of bolt torque.
Installation Warning
Do not install on 2011 or newer GM trucks — front hub assembly is incompatible. Do not estimate torque — undertorqued spindle bolts allow hub movement that causes bearing failure and potential wheel separation. Do not force a bolt onto damaged threads — chase threads first. Inspect the spindle and hub for wear before reinstalling. Once installed, the bolt is non-returnable.
Have you confirmed your truck is 2001–2010 GMT800/GMT900 (not 2011+ K2XX), and do you have a torque wrench to torque the spindle bolt to OEM specification?
