The Axiom Zinc Plated Dust Cap (SKU: AXGMCP10) is a direct-fit replacement dust cap for the front hub assembly on 2001–2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms). The dust cap seals the outer face of the hub assembly, preventing dirt, moisture, and road debris from contaminating the wheel bearing. A damaged, cracked, or missing dust cap exposes the bearing to contamination, causing premature bearing wear and hub failure. Zinc-plated metal construction resists corrosion. Secure press-fit design. Replace immediately if the cap is damaged, dented, or missing.

Installation Notes

• Hub condition inspection: Before installing the new dust cap, inspect the hub bore for deformation, corrosion, or damage. A damaged hub bore will not retain the press-fit cap correctly and will allow it to dislodge under load.
• Press-fit installation: Drive the dust cap squarely into the hub bore using a soft-face mallet or a flat block and hammer. Do not strike the cap off-center — uneven seating will deform the cap and compromise the seal.
• Inspect bearing: If the dust cap was missing or damaged, inspect the wheel bearing for contamination or wear before reinstalling. A contaminated bearing should be replaced, not resealed.
• Replace immediately: Do not operate the vehicle with a missing or damaged dust cap — bearing contamination begins immediately and accelerates under wet or muddy conditions.

Installation Warning

Do not install on 2011 or newer GM HD trucks — hub assembly is incompatible. Do not install on Silverado/Sierra 1500 — different hub diameter. Do not drive with a missing or damaged dust cap — bearing contamination will cause premature hub failure. Inspect the bearing for contamination if the cap was previously missing. Once installed, the cap is non-returnable.
